  1. While this is true to varying degrees, you'll note that I said discreet. An intrinsically anonymised version of this would basically allow people to more or less openly distribute read-only keys. Torrenting can be used for much dodgy stuff, but if you want to catch large amounts of people distributing this stuff, all you need to do is connect to a swarm and start writing down IP addresses. The difference between this and distributing pirate copies of Game of Thrones is that while governments around the world have wildly varying degrees of how seriously to take copying GoT (That are normally in the lower spectrum of serious) the response to CP is pretty much unanimous the world round. While people could do this same thing in other, more manual ways, it's less than ideal for than something that will automatically always be there, because manual processes make for mistakes, and one mistake and you've got a good chance of being on somebody's list.
  2. I'd be a bit concerned about this as it would make this an ideal platform for discreetly mass distributing paedophilia.
  3. Oh so it will only update what's been changed? Sweet.
  4. I believe that's on their to-do list. But yeah, given that this is an alpha, I'd imagine a lot is on their to do list.
  5. I'm actually not sure. I hadn't tried it. From the name, you'd assume so, but it's best to test first. All I can really say for certain is that it won't work after 24 hours. It's probably worth having a look at. Edit: "For security reasons, you may not want to share a master secret. In this case you can create a one-time key that can be used only once and expires after 24 hours. This can either be a full access or a read-only key that is created on the base of the master secret. After the one-time secret is entered, the device will receive a permanent full access or read-only secret for the sync network."
  6. One time secrets aren't "You'll only be able to sync for 24 hours" but "You'll only be able to use this to join our mesh for 24 hours"
  7. The key is to both identify which folder on which device needs sharing, and to act as a security key. To share a folder that you've already entered into BTSync on another computer, get that other computer to specify which folder they'll receive your data in, then instead of generating a key, paste the key from your original computer.
  8. Attempting to replace Dropbox entirely. Between this, owncloud, a backup-only Linux VPS that's charging $7 a month and the owncloud app, I'm getting roughly 5x the storage DB provides for about 30% less. It works well. Do wish I'd had this at my last workplace. It would have saved so, so many hours when transferring large updates to a couple of remote networks.
