  1. Thanks for the useful response. Seriously though - an open sourced btsync -- especially with decent crypto built in -- with a dropbox-like backup/cloud payment model would be an absolute win in the world; with a business/profit model to boot. Just sayin.
  2. I also am a PPC Synology user of Sync, and without Sync running on my NAS, it barely makes sense to run it at all. Some questions: What is the final version of Sync available for the PPC architecture? Where can it be downloaded from? For that final PPC build, what more recent Sync versions are still compatible? (I remember in the early days, even a small peer version mismatch would wreak havoc) Please consider open sourcing this to (a) allow broad platform support without further investment, ( improve the security of the software and enable it to be used in high risk environments as an alternative to centralized cloud systems and © be awesome
  3. This seems to have caused a very odd regression around UTF in the 1.4.x series. My Linux and Mac computers sync fine, but my Synology NAS cannot figure out any file or folder structure with extended characters. While most were already synced, the NAS is convinced that they are not, and is constantly trying to sync them. All devices are running 1.4.93. I can provide logs if that would be of any use.
  4. It's worth noting that kh0110's method works perfectly, but the package manager won't update the version info. On the btsync interface, however, it will display the current version. Anyone know what happened to SynoCommunity? I was really excited by the early appearance of btsync over there, but it hasn't been updated since.
  5. It's frustrating that after early adoption over at SynoCommunity, it's been stuck at the 1.0 release for so long. Anyone know who's maintaining the package over there? Anyhow, this thread: http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/21406-how-to-update-btsync-from-10134-to-1127-on-synology/page__hl__synocommunity has not-too-difficult instructions on upgrading btsync on a synology (the package manager won't update the version number, but the sync app will sync!)
  6. I see very high CPU usage on my ubuntu 12.04 64bit box, and my debug.txt file is not gathering any logging data.
  7. LaVir, how did you update? Did you originally install from the synocommunity, or via the package path?
  8. The SynoCommunity package is still 116, any ideas when it'll move up to 134?
  9. Add Synology 413 to the working list, using simply the http://www.synocommunity.com/packages package (still at 116 though)
  10. I also have this problem, but have not found that restarting btsync does anything to fix it. My debug log similarly seems stuck at the initial FFFF....
  11. I've been using btsync for a week or three now, and though I turned on debugging the first day, none of my clients[1] have ever written anything to the file. Similarly, my sync.logs were expanding into the tens-of-gigabytes territory, and redo that every time I restart the client. I've moved the ubuntu version up to 134, but am waiting on the update mechanism(s) for the other two. I love the concept and architecture, and would love to be filing more useful bug reports for my cross-platform setup, but my email server doesn't seem to like 20G attachments... [1] Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, Mac OSX 10.6, and a Synology 413j/PPA
  12. I do think that it'd be nice (probably with a sanity-check warning) to use btsync to sync to a folder that appears to be on the same computer - even though it may be a mapped drive to a system where, for whatever reason, btsync cannot be installed (I'm thinking things like remote web directory over mounted over ssh on a server you don't control, or even a NAS drive on a NAS that can't run btsync, but can be mapped to a local computer)
  13. Another wishlist item (consider a uservoice voting tool for stuff like this?) (not the wish): GUI/Web access to manage .SyncIgnore, and have btsync either monitor that file and update its behavior or enable a re-read of it via the gui/web.
  14. I'd love to see Synology's @eaDir directories/files automatically in .SyncIgnore !
