  1. Have you tried "mapping" the network path to a drive letter in Windows?

    1) From any Windows folder select Tools → Map network drive

    2) Select a free drive letter, for example Z:

    3) Enter your network path in the "Folder" field, i.e. "\\SHOWME"

    4) Select "Reconnect at logon"

    5) Click "Finish"

    Does this work?

    Unfortunately, that does not work with a boxcryptor mount.

  2. The mount can be reached and is not corrupt, because I am working on it/have been working on it all day.

    Could it be something with the config file? The debug says "Loading config file version 1.1.22". I tried to locate it in the bittorrent folder under 'application data', but could not find.

    It seems to be something with the root. The boxcrypt mount root z:\ cannot be added to btsync. However, I am able to add individual folders. So, I can add z:\folder-1, z:\folder-2, z:\folder-n.

  3. I installed btsync 1.1.22 on windows xp. I have a boxcrypt partition containing the data (z:\).

    With btsync 1.1.15 I had no problem adding z:\ to btsync.

    With btsync 1.1.22 I keep getting the error "can't open the destination folder".

    I tried to set it up completely new (renamed the bittorrent folder under 'application data'), but that did not solve it.

    Switched on debugging:

  4. I run ubuntu raring and btsync desktop version 1.1.15.

    The network consists of two windows pc (also running 1.1.15) and 1 ubuntu pc, all running over the same wifi router.

    The two windows pc have no trouble syncing with each other. The ubuntu pc won't sync.

    I have attached the log file. Please help.

    This is my config file:

    //!/usr/lib/btsync-user/btsync-agent --config

    //

    // configuration for the btsync agent running in the

    // user environment

    {

    "device_name" : "gialt1",

    "pid_file" : "/home/gia-admin/.btsync/sync.pid",

    "storage_path" : "/home/gia-admin/.btsync",

    "listening_port" : 0,

    "check_for_updates" : false,

    "use_upnp" : true,

    "download_limit" : 0,

    "upload_limit" : 0,

    "lan_use_tcp" : true,

    "disk_low_priority" : false,

    "lan_encrypt_data" : false,

    "webui" :

    {

    "listen" : "127.0.0.1:8888"

    }

    }

    Something I find strange is that i have set lan_use_tcp true but lsof -i :1025-9999 +c 15 shows:

    btsync-agent 3663 gia-admin 9u IPv4 9467573 0t0 TCP localhost:8888 (LISTEN)

    btsync-agent 3663 gia-admin 16u IPv4 9468358 0t0 UDP *:1900

    btsync-agent 3663 gia-admin 20u IPv4 10126372 0t0 TCP localhost:8888->localhost:32912 (ESTABLISHED)

    btsync-agent 3663 gia-admin 24u IPv4 9471760 0t0 UDP *:3838

    Thank you for your help

  5. Dear Mr. Moll,

    I am using ubuntu raring, and I am syncing between windows and linux pc's.

    I have installed btsync using your ppa. I am running btsync-daemon

    I am having the followwing problem. btsync-daemon is syncing using root permissions.

    As a result (i believe), it is creating double files and folders (please see attached screenshot).

    How can I start the daemon as 'normal' user? Should I change CONGIF_DIR in /etc/init.d/btsync to a directory with 'normal' user permissions?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards,

    Max

  6. I am trying to run bittorrent sync as a normal user. It is now running as root syncing all files with root permissions.

    I tried to rename my conf file to btsync.gia-admin.gia-admin.conf and start btsync with "service btsync start". Howver I amgetting the following error:

    gia-admin@giadt1:/etc/btsync$ service btsync start

    * Starting P2P file synchronisation daemon(s)...

    * Autostarting btsync instance 'gia-admin'

    start-stop-daemon: unable to open pidfile '/var/run/btsync.gia-admin.pid' for writing (Permission denied)

    What to do?

    Thank you,

    Max
