I understand what people are getting at here, but I think using external encryption is the way to go. It makes it the most flexible, when you "bake in" certain features like disk encryption in folder sync tool, you inherently limit it's flexibility. Don't misunderstand me, I'd love to have a plugin for truecrypt or something like that, which triggers a sync after a data update or similar. Plug-ins are the way to go with something like this. There's no need to reinvent the wheels that truecrypt or 7zip have already invented.
