hum, the devil was in the details. for some reason i put one computer on network 192.168.1.xxx and the other on 192.168.2.xxx. everythings working fine now. thanks to everyone for the help.

heres what i did. computer a has a static ip of `192.168.2.100. sych is listeniing on port 45114. so i when to computer b and entered in 192.168.2.100 port 45114. computer b has static ip of 192.168.2.101 sych is listening on port 36378. so i went to computer a and entered in 192.168.2.101 port 36378. see no joy.

which port should i use. tried 1234. no luck. all firewalls are down.

okay, i'll give it a go.

there not syncing. but maybe i made a mistake. will try again when i get home. hard to believe i made a mistake though. i've done this serveal times on serveral different computers and its always worked.

i think i understand this but i would like to check. i have 2 computer, nether has internet access. if i try to sync files between them they should still be able to find each other, correct ?? no special settings are required ??
