I don't know how Quickbooks and Sage store their data, but if it is in a binary blob a lot of bits need to be transferred with every change you make to your data. As for your external drive. You would need an extra backup procedure for that since BS only manages 1 copy of a synced folder on a device.

I have a problem with the desktop package. A few weeks ago I installed the desktop package for ubuntu, as instructed in the first post here. Now the update manager program says there is an update available but will not install it because the package is untrusted. How do I solve this problem?

As was also requested here: I would also appriciate an icon showing if at least one other node has the newest version of a file/directory. Is this hard to implement?
