[LAN: does not sync!]

argh. So i cannot do it just with a cable

I have no routers around.

to connect two pc do i need a special lan cable? I used the one i used to connect my pc to the home router. Now i live in a college dormitory and i need to sync my desktop connected to the university lan and my laptop that is unable to connect to the net cause of i have only a single internet access.

I connected 2 pc with ubuntu on a LAN without router.

 

pc a -> 10.0.0.10

pc b -> 10.0.0.20

 

A pinged B and viceversa. LAN is working, sync does not. Why?
