  1. Thanks for your reply, I installed btsync-gui as suggested and that's fixed the problem, however other than the btsync icon on my panel (which is now working fine) I have 2 menu entries BitTorrent Sync & BitTorrent Sync Web UI and neither of them work when I select BitTorrent Sync nothing happens and if I select BitTorrent Sync Web UI I'm prompted for a password, to my knowledge I have never password protected btsync Any help would be much appreciated Graeme
  2. Hi Guys I'm running Peppermint 5 (Ubuntu derivitive) on 2 PC's and 1 laptop all of them have BTSync installed, last night i received an update and it's broke BTSync on each computer, the icon is still there on the panel but it has an exclamation mark in the centre indication an error. when i right click on the icon "Open Web UI" is greyed out and at the top it says "Connection Error 400" This happened to each PC immediately after the update If I try to restart it from the terminal I'm told it's running but it's not Here's a copy of the terminal output graeme@Linux1 ~ $ btsync startbtsync-agent already running - nothing to dograeme@Linux1 ~ $ btsync stopgraeme@Linux1 ~ $ btsync startgraeme@Linux1 ~ $ By using this application, you agree to our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and End User License Agreement.http://www.bittorrent.com/legal/privacyhttp://www.bittorrent.com/legal/terms-of-usehttp://www.bittorrent.com/legal/eulaBitTorrent Sync forked to background. pid = 24056. default port = 8888WARNING:root:Communication Error caught, displaying error messageWARNING:root:Communication Error caught, displaying error messageWARNING:root:Communication Error caught, displaying error messageAny help or advice would be much appreciated Graeme
  3. Hi guys I've been using btsync for a while now and have it installed on 4 PC's (3 Linux PC's and 1 Windows PC's) and it's installed and worked flawlessly I installed to all the Linux PC's by adding this ppa using the following command then updating and installing using the command each time it's worked perfectly However I'm trying to install it to my daughters netbook running the same Linux OS as all the other Linux PC's buy when I try to install I get an error message in the terminal " btsync-user can't be found" I can install by typing "sudo apt-get install btsync but that doesn't give me the icon on the taskbar like on all my other PC's. Can anyone tell me if anything has changed or if there is somethingI'm doing wrong Many thanks Graeme
  4. Hi and thanks for the welcome You're absolutely right I still had the file open on the work PC closing it restarted the sync. The annoying thing is that I knew I had to close one before opening the other it was the same with Dropbox, must have had a mental block Many thanks Graeme
  5. Hi Guys I'm new to this forum and new to bittorrentsync, I'm not a particularly computer literate person so please excuse me if the answer to my problem is obvious. I installed bittorrentsync on 2 Windows PC's one running XP and the other Win7 , The XP machine is located at my business premises and the Win 7 is at home I want to be able to sync a quickbooks file between the 2 PC's, I set up the sync which seemed quite straightforward and the initial sync went perfectly, both PC's were in sync but today after making changes to the quickbooks file at work, I opened up the Win 7 PC at home to see if it synced ok but the download stuck at 8.7mb and the under the "Transfers Tab" it stated no transfers were taking place even though the bittorrentsync icon was circling as if to suggest it was, I left it fully 45 minutes but it never moved from 8.7mb Any help or advice would be much appreciated Many thanks Graeme
