  1. I decided to delete a sync/share instance on #2 machine. I added it back in. Both machines started talking (LED lights on LAN switch blinking fast). #2 machine began re-indexing the folder. Re-indexing complete. Both machines stuck saying they have to upload/download from one another. Both machines still have what I showed in first post. Really starting to wonder if I should have stayed with the really old version that I ran for ages without issue. Server 1 # ls | grep Sonny Sonny_Boy_Williamson Sonny_Boy_Williamson_2 Server 2 # ls | grep Sonny Sonny Boy Williamson
  2. Hi all, I have had a near flawless expereince with BTsync in a FreeBSD OS environment. I used a very old version for a very long time. A couple weeks ago I upgraded my three FreeBSD nodes to 2.3.8 (560) and I thought all was working well. This morning I discovered that ain't the case. All three of my nodes have stopped syncing to each other. Currently one is out on the Internet, and the other two are on the same LAN (same broadcast domain & IP subnet). I have paused/restarted individual shares, stopped BTsync process, wait like 10 minutes, start 1, wait, start another, wait, etc. No change. In an effort to make sense of this I tried renaming a folder to see what might happen. Folder name was orignally "Sonny Boy Williamson". I then renamed it to "Sonny_Boy_Williamson". I got this result: Server #1# ls | grep Sonny Sonny_Boy_Williamson Server #2# ls | grep Sonny Sonny Boy Williamson After 10 or so minutes I then on server 1 I copied the folder to yet another new name, and I got the same result no syncing: Server 1 # ls | grep Sonny Sonny_Boy_Williamson Sonny_Boy_Williamson_2 Server 1 # ls | grep Sonny Sonny Boy Williamson Both Sync instances find the folders/files and say they are uploading to the other node, but there is no actual transfer of files going on. My LAN switch LEDs confirm there is squat traffic. I am really hoping you are gonna tell me you are having an issue with your relay server or something, but the part that bothers me is these two nodes are on the same LAN and can discovered each other directly. Thoughts? What other troubleshooting could I do? Thank a bunch in advance from a long time Sync user, and general bittorrent fan.
  3. I posted to the feature request forum quite a while ago. Any comments as to when if/when this will be brought back?
  4. Yes I too think it should be brought back having status in the main UI window 100% of the time, on a per share basis. Leaving it empty, leaves me with well an empty feeling. I'm still testing 2.2.x on various platforms, most of them FreeBSD OS. Hoping to migrate every from 1.3 to 2.2 before the spring comes. But this empty status field causes me to say "yeah but" and hesitate.
  5. Any update this to this? I am trialing version 2.2.x and sp far so good, but this empty status field leaves me well with an empty feeling. Please find those 'bugs', and please implement an accurate working status field. Thanks in advance, PacketMan
  6. would be nice to have a response or two, to this.
  7. I'm curios too learn how well these latest 2.0.x versions are working, espescially across the various platforms, including Andriod, FreeBSD. I'm still running good ole 1.3.94, but am hoping to upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1 version before 2015 is over. Thanks all, P.M.
  8. Wha? Verson 1.4.111 is already in the tree, or is that not offical? Ya gotta do it!
  9. Cool! FreeBSD is more popular than MacOS! On a serious note, can I assume 2.x versions will eventually make their way into the FreeBSD ports tree? Thanks in advance.
  10. Is anyone running version 1.4.111 in a FreeBSD enviroment? I see it made it to the ports tree and I was thinking about trying it. But I am concerned about this 'out of sync / no sync' issue. I am still using 1.3.94 and its rock solid, but that version is not in the ports tree so I have to manually build the instllation (more like a copy now that I have it up and running already).
  11. I have no concerns with starting over with fresh installs. Thanks guys. Will work to migrate soon.
  12. So folks, I have a very stable release of 1.3, one of the last ones. Should I upgrade to 1.4.103 for all my devices (Windows, FreeBSD, Andriod, iPoD) or should I wait? Maybe a newer version of 1.4 is around the corner and will be even more stable? Just curious.
  13. I am considering doing the same thing. Building a high quality machine (FreeNAS with ECC ram) for primary use, and then low cost FreeBSD machines to be placed at houses of family members. Will enable DLNA and SAMBA so that we can all drop content into the swarm, and view each others stuff. But what if my nephew deletes the folders? So I will have a fat drive (USA or network, but no btsync) and do a manual copy every so often, and take that drive off site to a freinds house or something.
  14. I'll continue using 1.3 until I see that 1.4 or what ever is mature and stable. I get the dev process and have time to wait. Looking forward to an even more awesome product down the road. Keep up the good work BT Sync team.
  15. Okay thanks. Would be nice if say three releases, for any OS, would be available to download. Would help some of us ensure we don't break the cluster. I did my iPod and now it doesn't work, and I didn't see an older version available on the iStore.
  16. Is there, or can there be, a compatibility matrix of the various platform/releases to show which are compatible with which others? I have various devices running BT Sync, and of course some sync with others and some don't due to running various releases. I'd do an upgrade on all, but I understand the latest version(s) have some significant issues.
  17. After a lot more searching I think I have found the root cause of my troubles. I am using Windows. I vowed never to buy a GM vehicle ever again, and I think I need to make the same vow for Windows OS's. Sorry for creating this post and wasting a bunch of zeros and ones.
  18. KevinFu suggest I post a story about my system here. Not much to tell really. Pretty simple setup. FreeBSD running on an older box, configure for FTP server, and Bittorrent Sync.IP cameras around the property dump pictures into the FreeBSD machine via the FTP.BT Sync scans the folder very frequently.Other devices including cell phones, laptops, Apple devices, and Windows machines run BT Sync and receive/send the camera pictures.Any device can (except the iPod devices) can delete images. Future: FreeBSD will automatically delete pictures after they are so old. What I like is within seconds of a camera taking a picture, copies of that picture have left the property and are already on other machines. I just need to add a few more nodes to the swarm. Works great when on vacation.
  19. So first I am asking questions, not making statements. But I gotta ask. I have never had any issues with any hard drives for machines I have owned and/or operated. A few months ago (5 or 6 or so) I installed BT Sync on several machines. Now two of those machines have pretty much become useless. I am still troubleshooting but here is what I know so far. It doesn't look like I have any bad sectors, corrupt data, etc. What it does look like is the machine has an issue trying to do I/O to the drive. One machine is so shagged up I can't even log into its GUI to read logs and stuff. But I can slowly but surely get my data off it. My other machine is a new Windows 8.1 machine. When I can finally get task manager running it shows me disk active flat lines at 100%, r/w rates around 8KB/s (instead of MB/s) and latency can shoot up in the tens of thousands of milliseconds. What gets me is this happens only at boot up, (or wake up from sleep mode) and then is fine about 30 minutes later. So I got to thinking, my files being synced change often. These files in theory would mostly sit in the same spot on the disk. So I wonder, if there could be any conseqences to doing a lot of R/W to a very small section of the disk. But if there could be conseqences would that show up as bad sectors, versus general overall disk I/O acccess. I've done a bunch of troubleshooting, and got lots more troubleshooting to do, but I gotta ask the question: Has anyone had any kind of drive issues since using BT Sync on that drive?
  20. I used DLNA streaming to watch content through my PS3. Got to thinking it would be cool to have Sync on PS, espescially if I take my PS somewhere else and its no longer connected with the streaming server.
  21. Sorry folks for wasting your time. I got this working. I am so green with UNIX, including JSON files. Anyway I fixed my boo boo, and now I have a very slick system running. Thanks for all your help previously. Packet Man
  22. Yeah my testing confirms this is not working. My config file seems to be loading fine, and passes other parameters but this one is not working. I don't get any error messages though. I dump a bunch of files into a folder, and it takes up to 10 minutes for it to get indexed and pushed. Do I need to put it in a specific place in the file? Can someone who has this working send me a copy of that section of their config file please. Thanks again.
