  1. That's what I just bought to replace my Pi. The Pi can SYNC all right, but when I formatted my PC I had to pull all the data down... OMG.... SO SLOW! 70GB of data was going to take WEEKS. So I decided to go with a faster device. Hopefully it'll arrive soon. I've seen from other posts that the Banana Pi runs laps around the RPi original. I was debating getting the BPi M2, but I was speaking with people and it was pretty decided that it doesn't run Linux too well, but Android yes... And I DON'T want an Android server! Yuck...
  2. I'm actually having this issue. I loaded it up and now it says "You do not have permission to write to this directory." I'm on a Raspberry Pi and I'm writing to write to a USB stick. Any suggestions? I went in and did a "sudo chmod 777 *" but that didn't help. When I telnet in, I have access to the directory and I can make files in it... Hmm... Any ideas anyone? Thanks. I formatted it in fat 32 this time, and same thing: Update: In the end it had SOMETHING to do with the file system. I formatted it in ext4 and that was that. Easy. Now, for some reason, I have to raspberry pis listed in my devices. How can I delete one? I don't have access to it anymore in that sense. Is there a way to force remove it?
  3. Hello everyone. I'm having some problems trying to uninstall BTSync on my Raspberry Pi. When I try to run sudo apt-get remove btsyncsudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/btsync.listI get these messages pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo apt-get remove btsyncReading package lists... DoneBuilding dependency treeReading state information... DoneE: Unable to locate package btsyncpi@raspberrypi ~ $ sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/btsync.listrm: cannot remove `/etc/apt/sources.list.d/btsync.list': No such file or directoryUnable to located package and cannot remove. So, I searched around the web and I believe that the package is installed incorrectly? So I tried to update my repository: sh -c "$(curl -fsSL http://debian.yeasoft.net/add-btsync-repository.sh)"and I got pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sh -c "$(curl -fsSL http://debian.yeasoft.net/add-btsync-repository.sh)"-bash: curl: command not foundSo I searched again, and tried to use wget pi@raspberrypi ~ $ sh -c "$(wget -fsSL http://debian.yeasoft.net/add-btsync-repository.sh)"and I get wget: invalid option -- 'f'sh: 1: Usage:: not foundsh: 3: Syntax error: EOF in backquote substitutionI tried to follow Frost's instructions here from the comments, but still nothing: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/build-your-own-cloud-storage-with-raspberry-pi-and-bittorrent-sync/ Can anyone give me a hand in uninstalling bittorrent sync off of my Raspberry Pi I'd really appreciate it. Thank you VERY much in advance!
  4. I've been getting this bug as of lately far too often. My current set up is: My PC (Windows 64 bit) Few laptop computers (all 64 bit) And a server, Raspberry Pi, that keeps everything synced together. I'm not sure how to update the software for BTSync on my Raspberry Pi, but I imagine it's working fine as it says on BT Sync page (Up to date). What happens is, all of a sudden, the software freezes (BT Sync on Windows) and I can't open it. I open task manager and it says it's using 20-30% of my HDD usage, but very little to no network usage. It creates conflict after conflict. In fact I see Conflict1.conflict.conflict.etc.etc, and it just gets longer and longer. Sometimes I even see Conflict2.conflict.conflict.conflict.conflict. It gets so long that Windows tells me I can't delete them! So what I have to do is go into my RPi and delete it within there as it's more flexible than Windows, then that change syncs over to the other computers. And so I force close BTSync on my windows machines and then reload, and then the nightmare continues! I have to redo this every time on every machine to get rid of the conflicts. I turn them all on, and they all keep generating conflicts. Until they're all deleted from all computers at the same time. What do you guys think? Kind regards.
  5. Hello everyone. My current setup is I am sharing my documents, pictures and a few other secrets between devices ( a raspberry pi which acts as a server, and my laptops and desktops at home, work and other parts of the house). On my laptop I have 3 shares being synced (Pictures, Documents and a folder just for laptop desktop). Sometimes upon waking up my laptop, I see that it connects to devices (desktop pictures, desktop sync) but it doesn't connect to desktop documents. It's on the SAME device. In fact, on multiple devices (that were on at the same time). The only way to remedy it was to restart the program (exit, and open it again). Pausing and resuming doesn't work. Only exiting out of BTSync. I wanted to know if anyone has had the same issue. If not, I'd like to inform the developers of this "bug" because it's rather strange. Thank you. Kind regards.
  6. OK I have fixed the majority of the problems. I flashed the card and then started anew and this time I used FAT32 and I have no issues now. I created the folders from within the GUI and since it was fat32 I didn't have any issues. I'm sure Fat32 had NOTHING to do with it, but this time it worked I didn't mount it or anything like that! So yay. The second issue is that I extracted the config and then added: “sync_trash_ttl”: 120, It might be overkill but I can always change it later! So... yay again
  7. Hello everyone. I got my Raspberry Pi today and I followed the following instructions followed on this website. http://jack.minardi.org/raspberry_pi/replace-dropbox-with-bittorrent-sync-and-a-raspberry-pi/ The instructions were really easy to follow. But I ran into a few issues that I'd like to hear your opinion about. I would like to change the trash time. On windows and Mac OS it's easy to change from 30 days to 45 or 180 or whatever. How can I modify it? I ran into a storage problem. I used the following command lines to format the USB drive to test it out. df -h # find your drive here, e.g. `sda1`sudo umount /dev/sda1 # replace sda1 with your drive name !sudo mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1 -L BTSync # replace sda1 with your drive name ! It created a volume called BTSync just like in the guide. I didn't have BTSync_ until after I restarted. I don't understand why there are these 2 folders were created (BTSync and BTSync_). Can someone explain why there are these 2 folders when I only created one? Well, to the main issue: I have multiple folder secrets and I want to sync multiple secrets! I can't. I went into the file explorer and tried to create the folder and it said I didn't have permission. So the next thing I did was with my very little knowledge of the OS I opened the command line and moved myself to the BTSync folder and used "mkdir Documents" and it said the same thing, no access. How can I create a folder in that drive? I want to create multiple folders. One for each "Secret" that I have: One for documents, one for pictures, one for mobile, etc. Thank you very much for your time. Kind regards.
  8. Hi guys! Let me ask you a question. Is the Raspberry Pi a good device to keep as a "cloud" storage for BT Sync? I have an Android tablet and I set it up to be read only but it gave me a lot of issues. I tried it on my Galaxy Note 2 and it also went out of sync frequently and wouldn't update. Read Only and Read Write options made no difference. Wifi was always on, etc. Basically, what I'd like to go is get a device that would sync my documents as a backup and distribution to other devices. For example, I would edit a document, save it, and turn off my computer. Go to work, and turn on my computer there or my laptop and would like to continue editing. I saw this is not possible with Android with Autosync on... It just didn't work very well. So Android is out of the picture. How about a Raspberry Pi model B with either an SD card or USB drive? I'm looking for something a little bit more reliable than just Android. I'm looking for something with very low power consumption, as well. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Kind regards!
  9. Hello everyone. New user here! I am a big user of the "cloud" and backing up everything to the cloud. I run multiple machines and I liked being able to turn off one and go to another have all my data there waiting. I was on the internet the other day reading and it terrified me! I was reading about how this guy had pictures of his son on his computer (and synced to Google Drive) (nonsexual, but still, as a child and in the bath tub). He said his files were set to private but still someone from the government knocked on his door and ask to view his laptop. That totally freaked me out! I have no child porn or anything like that, but just the thought that in my private folders people could go through it without my permission made me rather worried. Not because of the data that's there, but rather, it's MY data and I have a right to privacy and my documents, pictures and files are MINE. So I'm moving away from the cloud. That's when I remember that I had seen Bit Torrent Sync! To sync my devices is there any danger of NSA or Government intervention? I don't live in the US, I live in Spain. I mean, can the NSA still get my data if it's synced via Bit Torrent? If I'm at my house and I sync over the LAN I know it won't be an issue, but what about when I'm at work and I save a file and it syncs back to my house? Another option for me was to get a BT Sync server. There are a few of them floating around the net, and some (like BTSync.com) aren't located in North America (which means great speeds for me!). Are they vulnerable? Can the government see what files are being synced back and forth? Once again, this isn't for illegal information or pictures or anything like that! This is all my content, documents, personal family and friends pictures. Nothing pornographic, nothing illegal. Like I mentioned before, it's just the thought that my data is being mined (in every sense if it's with Google). Thanks in advance. I've spent the entire morning browsing through the forum, and I see only good things but I haven't seen this issue really touched upon. Either that or my searching skills aren't that good: if this is the case, could you please redirect me? Thank you for your time! Kind regards, Kent.
