Is there anything that I need to backup before I install the latest version of BT Sync? Do I install the new software to the same directory location of the version that I currently have installed?

I have a Debian 7.0 system running Bittorrent Sync. Does the software install Samba as part of its installation. I am getting an error message from Samba in my inbox and I know I didn't install Samba on my own. So I'm contemplating removing it. I have no other machines that are networked with this Linux Server so It's not clear why Samba is running.
The server is a VPS.
The error message is:
The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action,
was called for PID 23325 (). -
I would like to sync my .sh files in /etc and only .sh files. Can someone post the code that is necessary to do this?

Can someone tell my how to fix this problem. I have a user called mix that is currently in my sudoers file added via visudo. The file in question has these access rights:
-rwxrwxr-x 1 501 502 4168108 Apr 21 04:46 btsync
How do I fix this so I can run btsync without btsync being a super user? If I remove mix from sudoers and run:
sudo ./btsync
the file will not run. I get several error messages about not having the necessary rights. When I add mix to sudoers and run ./btsync the file runs without any issues.

I can't get btsync to launch on my debian 7.0 32bit system. I should say I can't get it to run today.
If I launch my url via a browser I can't get to my page. I was able to do this yesterday.
If I do sudo btsync: I get this back: username is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.
How can I make sure that btsync is launched when my computer is rebooted. Please note I am running a VPS so I don't have any X-window running. I'm doing everything via SSH.

I have a server that is being hosted in Europe and have a PC in the states. I have got a few folders that are syncing just fine. However there is one file called time.log that wants to update every minute. Is there anyway to exclude certain files or extensions from being synced. This is creating unnecessary network traffic.

Thanks. I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that as It will void my warranty if I add any system files to the My Cloud device.

I have installed BT Sync and have a 2TB WD Cloud NAS device connected to my router with a static IP address. I have added a folder on my Desktop Computer called Videos and want to sync this folder to my NAS device in a folder called VideoSync. When I go to create this new folder in BT Sync after entering the Folder Secret, I get an error message from BT Sync.
"Selected Folder is already added to BitTorrent Sync"
Why does BT Sync treat the NAS folder which has a different IP address as a folder that has already been created?

I have version 1.3.94 on my Debian Server and have version 2.0 on my Windows 7 Desktop. Today I tried to sync my Linux directories to my Windows 7 Desktop and was presented with a screen on W7 to configure my system. I don't recall updating my Windows to version 2.0 but it 's done and I've lost the ability to sync files from my Linux system to my W7 Desktop.
I'm getting an error message in my sync.log file on my Debian system:
Could not map UPnP Port on this pass, retrying
I've done the research and can't find a workaround for this problem.
Do I have to uninstall version 1.3.94 on my Debian system and then somehow upgrade to 2.0?
Can I have two different versions of BT Sync and they will work without any issues?
I have UPnp enabled on my router
I see these entries when doing a netstat -nap
2405/btsync
udp 0 0 127.0.0.2:49666
I see this in my sync.log file:
UPnP: Unable to map port 127.0.0.2:47678 with UPnP
