I have an Airport Extreme Base Station with a powered USB hub connected. Currently in the hub are 2 external large capacity drives. One of those drives is a Time Machine drive which is backing up MacBook Pros on the network. The other drive has files that I would like to use Sync to backup to another drive. The drive I would like to backup is a 5TB drive which currently is using 2TB of data. My thinking is to purchase another 5TB drive to use as a backup drive and connect it to the same USB hub. I have an iMac with OS Mavericks (10.9.5) that I would like to run Sync Pro from and have it sync the two drives. Will this set up work? My alternative is that I also have a ReadyNAS 102 on the network that I could sync the files to. This would be plan B only if the above setup isn't viable. Can I get some informed opinions on the above please? Thanks!

Long overdue update from me. I never did do the terminal install of BTS but I did get version 2.0.93 from this page: http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9 I'm having mixed results. It did install, it did start working, but my ReadyNAS102 has been having issues that may or may not be related to BTS. It currently not working again and I am simply going to try a reinstall which I have done two times now and each time it got things going again. BTS & ReadyNAS is not what I hoped it would be.

My ReadyNas is the 102 ARM based. I am going to give this a go over the weekend. I'll let you know how I fare. My effort will be a good example of a command line newbie attempt so if it's successful then it should be fairly easy to do a step by step instructional post. I'll keep good notes on what I am doing. This is a really good point and it would seem to me that perhaps they don't think the ReadyNas is an important enough part of the market to accommodate. I guess we just have to look after ourselves here.

I put in a support ticket regarding the latest 'official' version of BTS which does not work for me. They suggested downloading the latest archive for Linux-arm, unpack it and launch from the terminal, then try and open the web GUI and see if that works. Can anyone point me to a step by step process on how to do this with the ReadyNas? I have a terminal application on my Mac but I am not knowledgeable about how to use the terminal or command line on my own. I've used the terminal before but only with guidance from command line experts. Thanks!

Nothing I have tried will bring the GUI back. I looked at the browser console and I am getting a 404 Not Found on /gui/js/templates.js So the template javascript is not loading. I reinstalled Bittorrent Sync v 2.0.520 and got no better results.

Thanks for pointing out the Dropbox version. Also thanks to Super-Poussin for doing the work. I installed this on my ReadyNas 102, launched it, but the web GUI isn't coming up for me. I'm new to ReadyNas so I would like request some insight from you experienced users on what's the best troubleshooting workflow for this sort of thing. Thanks! UPDATE: I finally managed to get the GUI up and the Sync running. This process should have been smoother than it was. I don't really know for sure if it my toggling the application On & Off several times that brought it to life or if it was something else that I am not aware of that made it work. Did anyone else go through a bumpy kind of a start? YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Several hours later I logged into the admin to have a look and the web GUI page is a white screen only. :-( I checked this in 3 different browsers on my Mac - Chrome, Safari & FireFox. Viewing the source of the page shows lots of code but the display of the page is blank.

I haven't used the 1.4.10005 test version. I'll have a look for it and see if that makes a difference for me.

Thanks for your reply colinabroad. This is all new to me. I suppose I expected Bittorrent Sync to be just like Dropbox in how it works.

Thanks for your reply Journeyman. I am deleting the smaller share and starting over. Since this is just on my LAN it's not a big issue but I need to know that I can depend on this system in order to continue using it.

Update: (I guess I'm talking to myself here) I have another Sync folder that is 15GB in size that suddenly decided it is 'Out of Sync' I don't seem to be able to get that one going again. Am I the only one with this problem?

Update: Since I was concerned that the home folder wouldn't finish syncing I decided to do smaller folders which are inside the home folder. I picked the 'Music' folder and set it up to sync. I left the original home folder in the sync list and all of a sudden it says that the sync is complete. There is a checkmark next to the folder on both machines but the folder size is listed as 109.29 GB. When I measure the home directory directly on the computer it measures 117.3 GB. Now I am confused. What should I be doing here? Edit: Shortly after I posted this, the receiving computer shows 'Out of Sync' message while the sending computer shows a checkmark in the status column.

Hi there, I set up syncing for the home folder on a Mac OS 10.8.5 which is 117.3 GB in size. After 109.29 GB of transfer an 'Out of Sync' message appears. I can't seem to get it to finish this initial sync. I've restarted the application on both machines. I've also restarted both machines. Is there something else I can do to get this to complete? Thanks!

I would like to be able to use Bittorrent Sync on my ReadyNas Duo. Is this possible? I can see the Bittorrent as one of the Installed Add Ons in the ReadyNas but I can not figure out how to make this work with Bittorrent Sync.
