  1. What I know the basic software, it means the engine, is the same. In my point of view there is only a difference of features and license. See more https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000508484-Sync-Home-Sync-Business-Free-vs-Pro-
  2. As far as I know, there is no difference between free and paid versions. However, it must be borne in mind that transmissions depend on a lot of influences, especially over the internet. The transmission can only be as good as the smallest bandwidth in the overall connection, which is also used by other people and data transmissions. And, of course, Resilio takes its own use of this residual bandwidth for transmission, and since Resilio is usually quite reactive and fast in establishing and managing connections, this can also play a role. Better statements can only be made through comparative tests.
  3. See above, doe you have some more information?
  4. How about selective sync? The feature is implemented
  5. There is no possibility to logout, only to close your browser.
  6. Overall, this is almost correct, except for the update policy. The software works without restrictions on servers, where the progress in technologies is partly not so big. However, in the device area it looks different and the forum is basically full of them. It's just that even from update to update not all bugs are taken care and that's sad. I had a few problems myself, e.g. a Windows service that could only be installed by good coaxing, the Android APP that does not start or maybe only after a reinstallation. There are other known bugs that I have not had to experience now. But it is also clear that the already very good software base v2.7.2 from before 2020 was already burdened in this respect and yet almost 2 years have passed until v2.7.3 and yet there are bugs in it. Do not misunderstand, of course, every software has its errors and bugs, but it is worked on in detail and with minor updates these are worked out. This is the right way and so does Syncthing. You are of course right with the ignore lists, from a function like selective sync to want to make, but there is actually a plug-in, which manages this. For local copies Resilio is clearly ahead, I want to replace that and do not want to use Resilio there, the 2nd Syncthing instance is a reliable facility. People are creative with things like this. I already made posts years ago in this forum that Resilio may move and force updates, as they can only have advantages overall. Besides, some of the problems also exist because of advances in operating systems, which is another reason for updates at least once every six months. Then, once you understand that Resilio is focusing on the Connect payed software, it is understandable from a business point of view. If one has noticed that Sync and Connect still had the same engine in 2020 with v2.7.2 each, but today in 2023 Sync v2.7.3 and Connect v3.5.1 is up to date, everyone can think the own part. I have multiple licenses for Sync, so I want to feel like I'm in good hands and that I haven't paid for something that I have to watch every day to make sure it's running. If Sync was only Free, it would all look a little different. Well then, as of BTsync I am a convinced user of this software, for several years with the above limitations. But today therefore also convinced user of Syncthing on Linux servers, Windows computers, Linux computers, Androiddevices. We will see.
  7. If you have a look to the update steps the next update could expect in maybe one or two years.
  8. Which DSM version is installed, I guess is DSM 7 or not? If yes, you have to set user permissions for the rslsync user, is in the DSM a system user, not a normal user.
  9. I think is not possible, .sync is a system folder. Maybe you can check the PowerUser settings, if there is a parameter you could change.
  10. Have you tried stopping BTsync and deleting the database, then starting it again? I remember that the connections in BTsync, as in ResilioSyncFree, are made only through keys. So if the devices are not displayed, maybe except your own, the connections are lost, the question is then whether the keys are still correct. Have you tried to disconnect all connections and reconnect them?
  11. Its not dead, but since years not in the focus of development. on the Resilio website Sync is officially included and supported but with no action from Resilio except you send any ticket about an issue maybe any reaction comes. In the focus of Resilio seems Connect and in my point of view its not fair especially for the license buyer of Sync, I´m also have some of it, that the difference of developent and versions no. encrease more and more. Again since a long time we have v2.7.3 for Sync and still there are bugs inside and against Connect is currently v3.5.1 - in the past this versioning wents parallel. For me is not a good politic and therefore is no wondering that i find more and more people at the Syncthing forum, makes in principal the same software.
  12. BTsync is from the actual point of view "very old". Why doe not install the newer Resilio Sync? Maybe one of your devices is updating or make other things or your Win 8.1 have now a update, which stops that software. Best is to update on Resilio Sync, for Win 8.1 could not be a problem, the other devices I dont know. Since the current software is some years old maybe runs on all devices.
  13. Are you sure the package is running? Maybe tried to install the right package manually? https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/206664850
  14. It is not finally known from me, if with the Ignore List https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/205458165-Ignoring-files-in-Sync-Ignore-List- any positiv patterns could be set. Otherwise as before mentioned, delete ~* *~
  15. If you have installed Resilio on both NAS, you can use https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us for the next steps. If you use DSM 7 on a NAS consider you give in the system control > shared folders each folder the permissions of read and write with the local system user rslsync.
  16. The respective files are preserved, as only the connection is lost, the other side would have to delete them manually if this is relevant. If you don't want that data remains and the connection is a read and write connection, only a complete deletion or moving of the files from the connected directories helps before the connection is stopped. However, it must be remembered that all connected devices would then be affected.
  17. The migration is simple. If both services are running alternately, simply include the above patterns in the Ignore Lists of the folders in both software packages. This will prevent temporary and other working files from being synchronized by the other software. Then both services can even be active in parallel. Enabling this in the same folders also works, but may lead to conflict files. It is therefore a good idea to first test such a mixed environment extensively in a trial environment. With the aforementioned precautions, it is possible to run one or the other software at each node without further ado. If one now wants to change over completely, it is quite simple. The Resilio service is stopped and the same directories are included and linked in the other software. This is very simple and no kind of migration is needed or possible, because each software has to create its own database.
  18. Thank you very much for your comments. It shows that other users feel the same way as I do. Exactly there I have quite some doubts, because although there have been various updates, at the moment we are since some months at v2.7.3, since some time at the Android-APP at v2.6.5, obviously not all bugs have been fixed so far. Only continuous updates can work out bugs. This approach was practiced in the past, but has been lost. Maybe there is a possibility to run both software it means Resilio and the other for the same folder. You must include the working files as ignore patterns // ########## Resilio files .sync !sync *.rsls // ########## syncthing files .stfolder .stignore .stversions .syncthing .syncthing* .syncthing.*.*.tmp ~syncthing~*.*.tmp *.sync-conflict-* on both sides in the Ignore List to have together working on the same folder. Maybe this is a idea for you to test some features etc.
  19. If you are using Resilio Sync, maybe use first the documentation.
  20. Yeahhh... It is always up to the user to judge to whom he sends links, whether the software is required for this or not. Any abuses or any other negative effects may occur in any case, whether the Resilio software is installed or not. But the only point of the discussion is that I can share content with others (if I want to and I am sure who I am sharing with) without installing any software. That's part of the reason why I have Owncloud on the servers in parallel with Resilio and also Syncthing, which has basically the same disadvantage. With Owncloud, I can do exactly what this is about: I can create a share link and share it on my terms, and the recipient is not required to install Owncloud software to work with the shared content. By the way, Resilio Sync is the software just like Resilio Connect and Resilio Inc. is the company. For that matter, I wouldn't know what Resilio has to do with my data, even though I use their software. So, again, the only difference in this discussion is that a recipient does not need to install software to receive content. Everything else is the responsibility of the user. The fact that access via http:// and https:// in turn has other weaknesses to offer is another matter, but here too the user alone is responsible.
  21. ? Read first. Such feature would be good and have nothing to doe with any new cloud storage.
