  1. There is a feature request that describes the problem, because there ist no feature for that:

    https://forum.resilio.com/topic/72159-relay-server-for-port-443-https-80-http/

As a rule, it is not possible to communicate from company networks except via ports 80 and 443, i.e. http:// and https://. Since VPN also uses its own addresses/ports, VPN operation is usually blocked.

It is clear that Resilio cannot handle this in any case, so in the past I used ownCloud or something like that, which only uses these ports. If you want to unify this, you can currently only use another P2P software that can. Otherwise, the only thing that helps is to wait until Resilio adds the aforementioned possibility in the relays.

Resilio advertises a workaround via config, but it doesn't work, so any further attempt is fruitless.

  2. The post reads as if only one common directory exists at a time, A and B. It would make sense to cluster all content so that instead of just one shared directory on each Synology, there are e.g. 6, 10, 20 directories that are synchronized, or that there are corresponding subdirectories in A and B, etc. I would only use selective Sync for unproductive clients e.g. reading etc. as is often the case on a Smartphones.

  3. That's really good and nice to read.

Some in the forum will be happy about that. Nonetheless, a few comments. You only speak of desktop versions.

The Android version linked at the start of the post is still v2.6.3 from 2018. Here, too, an update to v2.7.3 is urgently (!) required, meanwhile we have reached Android 12 and in the forum you can read that the now 4 year old APP is no longer up-to-date and buggy. This APP for smartphones and tablets has now become at least as important as the desktop versions, because more and more people are working with these devices.

At this point I suggest that it would be good to have update cycles e.g. monthly or quarterly in little steps.

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep an eye on the forum.

In the past we discuss about that all now nearly 2 years ago and the last update also was nearly 2 years ago.

I could imagine that such long periods of time between updates might also be a bit confusing. With the last update, for example, bugs were not solved or were forgotten, as was then read in the forum by users. Such effects could be circumvented with small updates in short succession.

Well then, we'll see how dynamically this develops.

  4. Only relating to the device, not personally. Because there is no connection to the account of a device. Maybe possible is, if each device is used from only one user, you can set the name of the user in the GUI of Resilio, so the above explained green light also lighted the stored name of the user.

Doe you have Windows computers  or which kind of devices you are using. I ask because of the maybe possibility to install Resilio not as services, you install the software for each account, so maybe in this way and the above GUI naming seems possible to have a individual environment. Maybe, I never test such installations.

  5. That is not visible in this way.

If you have the Pro license open the GUI at left under "Identity" your installation profil is visible. Then fix 1 of your 5 installations as master and connect the device key of the master to all the other 4 slaves. In the follow all the peers of the master are visible at the slaves and also if the slaves are connected as above described under "Identity", the connected devices are visible. Online devices are green lighted, Offline are grey.

really means resilio sync does not care about home users anymore

I think, this interpretation does not fit Helen's statement.

She drew a clear line, and the good thing about her statement for me is that there's no intention of necessarily trying to get Sync users to Connect. The bad thing is much more that Sync was clearly surpassed by Connect because Connect get updates and upgrades. That wasn't the case a few years ago.

for me Resilio Sync works without issues. I am not aware of bugs

That's not really the point either.

I can also confirm that the Android APP has a few bugs. First and foremost, the app does not start and many users complain here. This is a bug and can be fixed. Otherwise it works, I can confirm also that.

From this example we can see that nothing happens on the part of Resilio.

There are similar examples with the Windows APP, which also does not start on some users computer. It is the same. I keep reading about it. Nothing happens.

We're now at Android 12 and Windows 11. It's naïve to think that an app will run fine forever without updates when operating system development progresses.

If Resilio would work continuously with updates, I don't think that the effort would be so huge on an ongoing basis. But now it seems huge because more and more accumulates. And that's a problem. But working with long update cycles is not a solution either.

The users want to feel that something is in progress, then they are loyal.

  8. That's true, let's end the discussions on this when issues get too close. I think enough has been written, also on the situation with Resilio, that the messages have gotten through. Resilio has fans who are concerned that it won't go any further and if Resilio makes a tangible mark, I think it will all be forgotten very quickly.

  9. Maybe I wasn't perfect in the diction. Syncthing is open source, so there are 3rd party tools that do just that. I wanted to say that Syncthing can do that, but it's true that the software can't do that by default.

It is the same with the local sync. A second instance must be installed for this, which also does not correspond to the standard.

In order to realize the possibilities of the Resilio Pro, various tricks are required, but every user has the advantage that there is an update cycle of at least one month. This means that every user is always up to date with the latest software corresponding to the latest update of the related OS.

  10. Unfortunately, Resilio seems to have a bad marketing. Additionally Resilio no longer want to use the potential of the community. The same applies to the development of useful features. A lot has already been written about everything here.

There is an equal and absolutely comparable solution with Syncthing for the Resilio Free version. Also for the Resilio customers with a license, e.g. I have several licenses, there are possibilities to use the Pro features with Syncthing. So where is no problem in this direction. The real problem is Resilio, as you can read more and more about it in the forum that certain features are no longer working due to the development progress in the operating systems.

Maybe Resilio wants Sync Free and Pro to disappear at some point or for users to eventually switch to Connect, which has now reached version 3. It's unclear. Again and again it was promised that updates would continue here.

I think your firmware is most recent, maybe not so old. Against that the Resilio v2.7.2 is from 07/2020 and maybe no longer compatible (?) I dont know, but is possible. What firmware did you have when resilio was still running? If that is the case, it is a grievance that I have been pointing out for a long time.
