Thats the big problem ..... readable in the forum.

  2. This is a funny message, unfortunately it borders to be impertinent. I'm sorry, it is questionable who from the support, please excuse my statement, want to cheat us. The fact is that there has been no update for a long time and Resilio Connect is now at v3.0.0. It is also a fact that Resilio Connect and Resilio Sync both had the same sync engine at least up to v2.7.2, why is Sync not called Resilio Sync v3.0.0?

I have been using Syncthing on Synology NAS, Windows 10/11 computers, Android devices for a few years because of this strange update policy, and I have several Pro licenses. In particular, the users of Sync Free basically have no functional losses, and there are 4-week updates for all platforms. There is no such thing as an accumulation of bugs here.

  3. It doesn't have to be the recipe. But I think that Syncting is going a good way with the monthly release updates. Sure, there are also RCs in between, it can also be just one or two. Sometimes, with a tricky problem, there are five or more.

In any case, advances in the operating systems can also be absorbed in this way. Now there is Windows 11, Android 11 and 12 and the wheel is turning on Linux as well. We can all read it here in the forum that there are enough bugs about this and about other things to justify updates for a long time. With Android it is still v2.6.4 (!) And it is increasingly possible to read about problems.

Resilio Connect is at v3.0.0 and was recently at v2.12.x. If Resilio wants to switch to Connect, some of them will jump off beforehand anyway. More and more Resilio supporters are showing up in the Syncthing forum because of the update problem. Is anyone wondering?

  5. Resilio is software that is at the forefront. There is still no doubt about that. It has great features that others don't. Such important features as selective sync or local sync can also be done with Syncthing. That is not implemented there, everything is correct, but it can be done without detours.

The dilemma is elsewhere. It's not just the fact that users always want something new, for which updates are sufficient. The background to updates is very factual.

Expressed clearly. I also like to go retro and install old operating systems in a VM from time to time. When I try to install new software on it, it rarely works or it doesn't work properly. Conversely, if I want to install old software on a new operating system, I am lucky when it runs and even more lucky when it runs continuously without errors.

This is also the case with Resilio. The software, as good as it is, has its bugs. In addition, the surrounding operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Android, MacOS are constantly updated. Adjustments are being implemented so that the errors will increase with Resilio, which can already be seen. As an attentive reader of the forum, something like this cannot be overlooked.

It's a shame that other software will or has already expired. Using the example of Syncthing. This is already so process-reliable that it no longer needs to be observed. Syncthing has definitely reached Resilio's level.

What Resilio does in the commercial sector is one thing. However, these customers will not advertise software the way communities do. Microsoft already knew how to make excellent use of this. We all know what became of Microsoft.

And something like that is syncthing. Not that important, but the software is spreading all the time. The supporters take care of them, updates appear on a monthly basis, which gives the users a good feeling.

So why are license users moving from Resilio to Syncthing?

  6. I see that with Syncthing as well. In the meantime, devices in the network are displayed when you want to add devices, but this device orientation makes Syncthing a bit more cumbersome.

I don't use Dropbox or any other external clouds, but these clouds have the clear advantage at this point that, as far as I know, a browser control is sufficient and no local client is required for the cloud account.

And I also find that a bit unfortunate, Resilio can at least only be operated with one key. Nevertheless, the client has to be installed. For example, when it comes to sharing elements. ownCloud / nextCloud more exemplary and significantly better.

I have used Resilio Sync from the early 1.x days. I was even in the private beta group for some time.

However, we are now planning a move off Resilio Sync

There are two different groups of users. Some use external clouds. The others, however, use private clouds via NAS, home servers, etc. and there are quite a few. I count myself among them as well.

I have also been using Resilio since v1.x with all clients, such as Synology NAS, Windows, Linux, Android. However, Syncthing has a lot in common with Resilio and each software has its advantages. So I used both in parallel for a while, at the moment I only use Syncthing. When it comes to sharing data, Resilio is a bit easier, but in both cases the software must also be installed on the recipient. These tools are comparable in their basic functions.

We have enough amount of developers.

Why are you constantly asking about new version?

Reading such comments from the staff shows the attitude in such topics. If everything was TipTop, no one would ask for updates. In addition to the written comments, also it is overlooked that operating systems are also making their progress. If you study the forum carefully, everyone will see it.

Why is Connect on v2.12.2 and Sync still on v2.7.2?

  10. It seems the right way, what you show. If you connect with your devices to the same Master, e.g. NAS, all devices are connected to that Master and to all the Master shows the list of peers as above. If the "Default connect folder mode" is stated as shown, the connection is automated acording to the standard folder you have setted in the settings. The permissions must be setted, since is not possible for Resilio to connect to this folder.

  11. I think, you get no answer from Resilio staff, unfortunately that became the rule here.

As license owner I use this version myself on all devices, except Android, where it is v2.6.4 and even older. I cannot confirm that the current version runs absolutely cleanly as in the starting time of that version. I have effects on the devices that I cannot assign, e.g. the number of scanned elements, after which I do not know correctly, everything is now synced. Or for me it is not sure if the software consider in all the jumps in the OS'n without any negative influence. Every bug fix, update, upgrade, security patch and everything that is there could have an impact. Accordingly, it can be read that there are malfunctions, e.g. software no longer starts, or, as in the case of Android, often simply freezes after starting.

The other thing is that the support service in the forum is basically no longer available, the people at Resilio no longer feel like it, no more time, that is incomprehensible. All in all, unfair, especially for license users like me. I had already described this elsewhere, in the Syncthing forum users keep coming in who say they are long-time Resilio users and don't want to continue like that condition. When I say things here, no one from Resilio answers. Likewise, when I say that Resilio will be to blame for being left behind by the competition, the same picture.

I feel like you, since BTsync, v1.2.128 I think I use it and since v1.4.111 also productively. I remember that very well because it already ran very well, also on my Synology NAS'n.

I don't know the reasons well enough either, in the end it is certainly a question of personnel capacities and money. Connect is now at v2.12.2, supposedly the engine should be the same. Nobody knows why there is no Sync v2.12.2. I find the users who have migrated and the changed image significantly more expensive compared to the perhaps more limited profit of Sync compared to Connect.

  12. Allegedly the Sync engine is the same as Connect. However, one has v2.7.2 and the other has v2.12.2. The situation is just unclear about the updates. I can understand that Resilio also has to make money. But there are also license users at Sync and not just free users.

Nobody expresses itself openly. It always just means that the capacities etc. are limited and something like that. I understand, but that's the case in every company. However, the fact that users migrate, preferably to Syncthing, is probably accepted.
