  1. Thanks @Roman Z I did as you suggested. However, at step 4 , I get the error message... 'Sync does not have permission to access this folder' Checking ownership & permissions of files - pre-move they are all drwxr-xr-x btsync btsync; post move drwxrwxrwx btsync btsync The Seagate 2TB external drive was originally formatted under Windows - but is read/writable by Linux. Any ideas ? Thanks

  3. I'm running btsync on a Linux desktop with a number of shared folders ask under my own pro identity. My disk is nearly full and I wish to move all synced folders to an external drive I've mounted & continue syncing in this new location from where I left off. Unsure how I can do this. Can anyone help? Thanks
  4. Anyone in Sync support able to shine some light on this ?
  5. hi @drego85 I had a re-read of your original message. I too have played around with encrypted folders. What is it that you are actually trying to achieve ? You can't have an encrypted folder under your own identity anyway, you can only share it to another id (if you set-up a remote server under your current pro id, it'll simply sync with all your other devices un-encrypted.) To make use of encrypted, you need to set-up the remote server under a new id (you don't need a licence) - and share the encrypted link to it. Only then will it sync that specific share encrypted. The main pain is that you can only initially set-up an encrypted folder that is empty, then populate it. Any existing synced folders won't have an encryp key option. Still waiting to find out why.
  6. Hi. Through my learning curve with BTSync pro, I've created and destroyed (accidentally & on purpose) a number of devices that have been added to my identity. For some I was not able to un-link them from my identity before they were destroyed. Hence, they remain on the 'my devices' list, simply showing as offline. They don't appear to disappear over time of their own accord. How can I get rid of the phantom ones - ones that simply don't exist anymore ? I have 3 machines in my live community now, though I see de-installing & re-installing btsync on any device doesn't solve the problem. Once a freshly installed machine re-joins my identity again, the others tell it of all the phantom machines. If I delete everything from all devices & start over from scratch, will that solve it ? Might I run into a problem with my pro licence ? or is there a simply way ? Thanks all.
  7. I guess what would be interesting to understand what actually happens when a non-empty folder is added - btsync doesn't give any explanation in the warning. Are existing files ignored; are they synced unencrypted; are they deleted; or what ? Similarly, if those existing files are then modified after the folder is set as an encrpted share - what then ? When you say *could* be overwritten, in what circumstances might that occur - that would seem the most significant outcome people may be concerned about ? Thanks.
  8. Thanks RomanZ. That nailed it :-)
  9. I'm a linux newbie, so still fumbling my way forward at this stage. I've installed lubuntu onto an old 32-bit laptop & am now looking at installation & configuration. There appears to be two methods to install. Either find the appropriate package to download & install, such as.. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tuxpoldo/btsync sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install btsync or, to simply download & unpack, such as... tar xzpf btsync_glibc23_x64.tar.gz Are there pros vs. cons of either approach ? (I followed the latter as I couldn't get the package method to work. Google is littered with different examples of package install, from past versions & years, so I'm just firing off blindly... and missing my target) At the moment I have to login & execute btsync manually ./btsync from my home directory. Can anyone advise how I can get it to execute on boot ? I'm planning to remove as much irrelevant software as possible - this machine will be used only for syncing - is there anything important that BTsync relies upon that I ought not delete ? Thanks all, PaulU
  10. Thanks RomanZ - I'll format up a couple of USBs & give each a try.
  11. I have a suspicion that BTSync simply calculated the %age of what remains to be synced each time it starts - i.e. what's not yet been done, not the total. Thus, every transfer is 0 to 100%.
  12. I've an old Atom based NetBook that I'm reprovisioning to use as a BTSYnc 'hub' for home use. I proven the concept by installing Ubuntu 15.10 in a partition alongside the existing Windows XP, but it's quite a heavyweight OS for what I'm doing here. Can anyone suggest the most lightweight linux that I might provision in order to run BTSync ? I'd also like to occupy the entire disk, wiping out XP once & for all. I'm not the most technically capable individual, tending to Google myself each step of the way. Hence, please don't presuppose a high level of competence on my part ! Thanks all.
  13. Thanks all. Just to check - as a home (non-Pro) user, your licence allows me to have different identities for home devices + a separate one for the server ?
  14. Hi, a little unsure how to use/implement encrypted folder capability. I have a cloud server, PC (+ other devices) all under my identity. If I wish to have data held encrypted on my cloud server, can you talk me through the steps to do this ? At present, whenever I create a new share (initiated on PC) - it automatically appears on the cloud server & syncs as-is. Thanks.
