  1. If I have a really big Sync-share with files downloaded via a torrent client on it, (and FS notifications still turned on) would there be any overhead synced with BTSync? I just told my torrentclient to append a temp. extension to incomplete downloads and added that extension to IgnoreList within the share ( .!ut ). But since there's many small changes all the time ( less than 1000 mb which is default upper limit for patching in Sync), would Sync actually keep patching only the affected bits? i dont pre-allocate files, or download sequential if that matters?
  2. Never thought about the abscense of the warning on Desktops, but on my Android i always get a warning if the destination folder has content. +1 it could be more clear what the outcome of merging dirs would be, maybe a 'questionmark' or something within the warning, which indeed should be consistent where applicable. I too think it would be smooth if standard folder-type just evolved and got more features instead of us having to choose or re-create shares to enjoy new features like encryption, however you have to take backward compability into conscideration. I suspect they're trying not to mess up for legacy versions too much. At some point it might be neccesarry to deal with it, like in a major update, but having users being forced to upgrade dozens of peers at the same time wouldnt be acceptable neither. I've neither got insight in their dev. nor am I a developer (since many years) so its merely a guess though :-p
  3. if files havent changed, their content isnt polled, that would be tedious and would sort of defeat the purpose of having an index. you can disable filesystem notifications in advanced settings and also increase the scan interval which defaults to 600 secs/10 minutes. or are you talking about re-creating the share? that would require new hashes and would take as much time as the indexing the first share did (if filecount hasnt increased)
  4. And yes, conf is accessible from involved machines
  5. I too get this, starting with 2.3.3. Applies to both win10 and arm/rp2 installation. These two are on the same lan Although, my third device, also a win10 pc does not have this message while idle. This one is in another city.. Kinda sounds like network related, but neither i changed anything. In prevous builds like 2.3.2 i did saw "could not get list off trackers" flashing for 1 second and then dissappeared when launching, but now its persistent in 2.3.3
  6. I'm bumping this one, I just can't keep scrolling through hundreds of folders on Android where foldernames are also truncated by the app. To top it, when stepping back from a subfolder you end up at the top of the list again.
  7. A very good post. I've also requested a proper selection of serviceaccounts during install. Feels like quite a hasty implementation. As it behaves and responds to standardized servicecalls (put aside conventional setup and naming) I didn't called it a bug, but you might be right.
  8. This doesn't mean your rpi is overloaded with 50% per see, it's 100% per core (irix style) and you have a quad core soc (a rp?) So 150% basically resolves to that you're using 50% of total active cpu time. AFAIK.. Mine shows the same while synching, but I've got no big issues with managing my rp2 through ssh / webui.
  9. Sync v2.3.2 on Windows 10 [ build 11099 ] When sharing the root of a drive on Windows, Sync includes the colon " : " in the sharename. While this works for the device setting the share up, other devices will get (no write permission) when accepting default name and connecting the folder below root-level. Obviously invalid character for a file or foldername. No biggie at all, just thought i'd share. maybe disturbing for someone who uses autosync between devices or something.
  10. For all platforms in main UI within the HTML-panel
  11. Sorry, I use to rtfm. Don't know how I missed that. Pretty much what I asked for, thanks.
  12. Are there any official collection of documentation for current version of sync on a technical level? On topics from ports used to description off Power User settings. Admittedly the power settings are pretty self explanatory, but at least I'd like to know what unit those integers are, days, seconds, minutes, bits or bytes?
  13. So setting it to '0' temporary would clear them? Would this also apply to my thread here, that is, would my own abandoned but still linked device dissappear, or is it required to unlink from that very device?
  14. Oh sorry. I don't windows phone too well , only that it's sort of like iPhone in some storage considerations.
  15. Camera backup backs up DCIM with subfolders. That includes screenshots folder for me but of course that can vary between devices. But you can easily select a custom folder to backup from your phone. Works just as camera backup only camera backup is predefined in the UI
  16. Thanks... Yes, of course it is, but can't you affect symantec/norton to whitelist your product?
  17. Tried to convince my neighbor to install sync to send me a big file. But he claimed his AV blocked it as Unsafe, "WS.Reputation.1". So no transfer took place :-p He's a legal customer and get definition updates from Norton/symantec and such. Same scenario as here http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/31710-bittorrent-client-update-marked-unsafe-and-deleted-by-norton-security-suite/ though that was the Bittorrent client, but of course i realize its common code being detected.
  18. Ive shared my Documents folder with all my linked devices (Windows 10) Each time i empty my recyclebin i get loads of locked files. I added $RECYCLE.BIN to .sync\IgnoreList to get rid of those. My Documentfolder is redirected and being offline-synced (corporate). Does anyone else have issues with the recyclebin, and why is it not being excluded by default anyway? Other OS'es corresponding trashfolders (.Trashes) are being excluded, and we do got Sync's Archive-folder to recover deleted files anyway?
  19. np. note though that builtin admin is disabled for a reason, like Mr root is often scrambled on modern nix-distros. just sayin :-)
  20. My RPi seems dead which ive joined with my Pro license. in my other machines Sync UI, i see that i can "hide" my RPi, but not unlink it. Can i avoid that dead RPi (broken sd) alocating 1 of my 10 Pro licenswd devices? (and hanging around in my UI for no use)?
  21. Again, I'm a freshman at Sync, but the way peers address each other really shouldn't affect their content. I do work with Windows servers and their bmr/systemstate backup (DPM). I'd just make sure the vhdx really didn't have its crc changed on either side. If you copy the files into the offsite share by other methods, is it still being overwritten? (it shouldn't). Of course there's logs generated by sync probably giving a reason for resending that other guys here can instruct you on, but other than an actual tampering with the file consistency, I don't see why it should resend.. Sorry, hope you'll get better help from anyone else.
  22. would that appy if i re-attach a backup-share from a phone too?
  23. Depending on whats most important, completing the sync or keep the timewindow, you could also install sync as service and setup a scheduled task for it with desired properties. like running it each night for 4 hours then stop it. if files are larger, completeness is important or you need access to Sync outside that timeframe RomanZ advice is more suitable..
