Cloning or migration of Sync instance (settings) aren't supported, this is mentioned in our KB:
    https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018421940-Cloning-Sync

The best way is to start all over again on a new device.

    Ok @Andy+ and @Daria,

Thanks for your input. I am on a licensed version, only three peers (well four, ie including the NAS).

I know it will have its advantages anyway to start from scratch on a new system  but it's just going to be a bit of a pain. Not looking forward to that.

Anyway, I'll sort it out. Thanks for the info.

    Regards,
    Hans

  2. Hi all,

I have read through quite a few posts but haven't yet found what I'm looking for.

I have an Asustor AS-604T plus three computers I have linked to it through Resilio Sync, using the latest versions of that software. The Asustor has a Resilio app which I'm using and I have set up Resilio on the various computers AS A SERVICE (within Windows 10 Pro).

On each of the three computers I have a set of syncing tasks that link to the NAS. The lists of tasks on the three computers are NOT the same on each of them. Also, on the NAS, within the Resilio app (browser window), I have set up Resilio tasks to correspond with the tasks on the computers.

    All works fine.

I have now bought a Synology DS-920+ and want to migrate - if possible - the Resilio settings from the Asustor to the the Synology. I have read that - when using a sync.conf setup - copying certain programme data folders should do the trick but as I run Resilio AS A SERVICE I am not sure what the correct way is to get this done. I would hate having to redo and recreate all those different tasks again.

    Who can help?

    Thanks,
    Hans

  3. Hi all,

I have Resilio Sync running on two Windows 10 Pro computers and on an Asustor NAS. I try to use the most recent version of Resilio on all of them. I run Resilio as a (Windows) service on my two Win 10 Pro computers. Last week I noticed that my computers were not synchronizing anymore (seeing no file updates show up on my NAS). I then tried to open up Resilio (desktop icon) to open up a browser window which then opens 127.0.0.1:8888. That should normally trigger the application and show the Resilio desktop/dashboard. Unfortunately this did not work and every time I tried to start the application (on the computers, the NAS was ok) I got this "127.0.0.1 localhost connection refused" message.

I looked it up on the internet and tried all sorts of suggestions (browser (cache, version, different brand, history), firewall, editing the hosts file (127.0.0.1 localhost) and maybe a few more and it just did not work.

Until yesterday, when I decided to (on one of my computers) remove the Resilio software (through Windows, remove programs) and then I reinstalled Resilio. THAT triggered a small window  during the setup process where I had to indicate what Windows account (name + credentials/password) I'd like to run Resilio under. Ahh.....a few weeks ago I had indeed changed the Windows password! So, I inserted the proper name + password, continued the install, restarted and look and behold, upon double-clicking the Resilio icon on my Windows desktop, it smoothly and immediately continued into the Resilio dashboard.

So my question is (at last)....is this a common thing that I need to reinstall Resilio whenever I change the Windows password?? I should hope not but what do I need to do avoid this circus in the future? Should I edit a config file (if so, which one and where and how) and if not, what could then be wrong on my computers that I do have this problem?

Sorry for the longish email, I thought a bit more information might be helpful....:-)

    Your help is appreciated!

    Kind regards,
    Hans

  4. Hi everyone, I have been using Resilio Sync for quite some time now and everything worked just fine until last week when I saw there was no syncing, no peer connection. Maybe a Windows 10 Pro update caused it, maybe the router, maybe the NAS, maybe the antivirus-firewall, I don't know, not yet anyway. I am using R Sync on an Asustor NAS (apk v2.4.4.) and on several computers (v2.5.10, now updated to 2.5.12). I only have local syncing so I have so far stayed away from relay and tracker servers. However, and this is where I definitely made a mistake, last week, becoming increasingly frustrated with all of this, in order to solve the problems, I downloaded a sample/default sync.conf and double-clicked it. It has not made things any better :-).

The two pictures show (1) the NAS RSync setting where (in Dutch) it says that connection settings have been overwritten by config. Port is 5556 and on another tab yet another port. The second picture (2) shows a setting on one of my computers (listening port is 8888).

FYI: I have ssh-ed into the NAS and I can only find json files referring to config and yes, also includes a port setting. On the computer more or less the same things. I haven't got a clue whether all those ports should be the same and where to start. Also, I should mention that, when ticking the tracker server, syncing does work. The thing is that everyting for me is local so I would like to stay on the LAN.

So, let me get to my question, and I would appreciate your help a lot!:

Without reinstalling Resilio Sync on NAS and computers, can I go back from the current situation, delete/change the settings that this default sync.conf has changed? If yes, how?  If no, what can I do to fix this problem?

If you need any additional information, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Regards
    Hans

@Hans Unfortunately, automatic migration for Asustor NAS package is not planned. We can instruct you on manual migration if you want. That will require some basic Linux skills as it is done via SSH.

Ok Roman, please talk me through the manual migration process.

NOTE: I have the Asustor NAS (AS-604T), using the v2.3.7 app on the NAS,  and I use BT Sync on 3 computers (installed as a service). Apart from the steps to take (and how), please tell me also about the order in which to do this (NAS first or...?). If you need any additional info, just let me know. Thanks!

  6. I run BTSync v2.3.7 on my Asustor AS-604T NAS (and that works fine).

I don't mind changing to Resilio Sync BUT I need to be certain that automatic conversion from BTSync to Resilio Sync (app version is currently v2.4.4) is also supported on my Asustor NAS (as it is for several other brands). That was NOT the case two weeks ago.

QUESTION: When will this automatic conversion for the Asustor NAS be available??

  7. I run BTSync on several computers, syncing to and from an Asustor AS-604T NAS. I use the BTSync app (v2.3.7) on that NAS.

  8. Hi, I'm trying to get a grip on the basics of Sync. Simple and straightforward as the programme may seem, I still find it hard to understand some of the elementary details (which of course may well say something about me rather than about the software :-)).

My question: once folders have been exchanged between (e.g.) a NAS and a computer, synchronisation set up, is it still possible to change the RO characteristics to RW of a certain folder on one of the machines (and vice versa i.e. RW to RO)? I haven't found the option so far...

    I appreciate your help. Thanks!

  9. Forget about the below-mentioned post, I got impatient and have installed v2.3.8. Still interested in knowing if an update is tsrongly recommended once available.

    ...........

Ok, sorry to jump right in: I wish to install and start using Sync asap. Seeing that version 2.3.8 is still a bit wobbly(?), do you recommend I go with v2.3.7 and then update as soon as (final-version) updates become available? No risk of losing any profiles I will now start to build?

    Thanks,
    Hans
