When I'm copying a large amount of files via the Windows Explorer into a Sync folder, every new file that hits the folder will trigger a "File is locked by another application" Windows notification because the file is still being copied... is there an option to suppress those messages? As in... just those messages so other important messages from Sync will still show notifications? They get quite obnoxious when it flies out for every file and I'm copying sometimes hundreds. Thanks

My NAS has pretty much endless storage so I always set the global retention date for versions to 10 years... I can't help but think about how great the ability to designate a specific client as a "version node" would be, where the Archive folders get indexed and any client can then access previous versions of files via their own desktop (right click "View previous versions..." etc.)... often I have to go to the NAS and rummage through folders with huge amounts of numbered versions which is a tedious and time consuming task. Syonology Drive on my NAS has that functionality and it's fantastic. That's my feature request... thoughts?

My setup... (if you need more details, let me know) i7 Mac mini is my "always-on" Sync machine (drive holding all the Sync files is an external USB3 WD My Book in RAID-0 config mode) Two i7 Windows 10 Pro PCs as Sync clients running on dual SSDs in RAID-0 (super fast read/writes) Whole network from end to end is Cat-6 running through a business class gigabit Cisco switch All Sync versions and operating systems are fully up to date The apps in question are some games I have where I set up my own local cloud saves, so to speak, to keep both the Windows machines game saves in sync. There are just a few games that constantly write new files into their save directory which is where Sync is getting hung up. The games will give me warnings about corrupt save files, etc., if I place them in a Sync folder (in a regular non-Sync folder, they're perfectly fine). I was not aware of the delay time function, which I can explore, but that will get tedious managing all the file extensions manually. Ideally, it would be great if you can specify (per Sync share) how often to perform the sync just like you can specify other options per Sync share. Sync is a real champ for pretty much everything else I've thrown at it... I have folders with terabytes worth of stuff with deep directory trees and it doesn't flinch (granted, those are not accessed in near real time, however).

Been a long time user of Sync and am well versed the software, but up until this point, I've never had a situation like I currently have. I have a directory that that is housing some app files... when the app is open, there are a number of files that stay in an open state as well as lots of deleting files, writing new ones, updating, etc. This is absolutely choking Sync because it can't keep up with the rate of the requests and it's own sync process... the result is the app using the directory constantly giving me corrupt file and missing file errors. I know there is a global setting to increase the folder re-scan poll rate value, but don't really want to do that because this is just one sync point out of many. Is there a "best" way to deal with this? or is this just asking Sync to do too much? I tried the folder in question with Dropbox and Dropbox didn't flinch and not a single error or corrupt file... I'm guessing because Dropbox has a different method for handling open files and rapid file changes. Any thoughts/suggestions/insights would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, on iOS the app has to be open in order to Sync or backup photos... I think Android can sync in the background, but it's an iOS limitation I believe

How come all my 2.5.9 clients aren't finding the update through the Sync app? I've done a "Check now" on all of them and none of them are seeing it... have a mix of macOS and Windows 10 machines as well as a Synology NAS client

Here's a batch of screenshots I took from my phone using a network utility app while connected to the OpenVPN server I have set up on my network. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwvXrkoPhpCFamJleEoySGVocUk?usp=sharing Everything in these screenshots points to the fact that the phone can see/ping one of my LAN peers running Sync on port 33545 (10.5.1.3), it can even make a direct connection on the Sync listening port!... green lights across the board... but when I open the Sync app with a connected folder with all default options except "Use relay server", none of the 8+ LAN clients on the 10.5.1.0/24 subnet will connect to the phone. Is there something specific to OpenVPN settings that will allow the LAN clients speak to the VPN clients without having to go through a relay server? LAN: 10.5.1.0/24 VPN: 10.5.2.0/24 I have client-to-client enabled on the VPN... the 10.5.1.0/24 subnet is being pushed to the VPN clients as a route... have it using the same DNS/DNS Resolver the LAN is using (can use the local DNS names to get to things, etc.)

And unfortunately, the info in there didn't help, so I'm looking for more people that may have a similar setup

I keep looking, but can't find any info on security when transferring files through them, only that if you can't connect direct, it will use them. I'm on T-Mobile and I read in the Sync help that T-Mobile blocks Sync... not sure if that's still relevant in July of 2017, but I'm assuming it is, because no amount of port forwarding, triple checking firewalls, using pre-defined hosts will let me connect direct while on mobile... tried the VPN route, but I can't get direct connections there either. Does anyone have a link to any documentation specific to what happens when you're going through a relay server?

I want to be able to join the peers on the LAN direct while on the VPN so nothing ever has to go through a relay server... to that note, I tried enabling a relay server on one share on a LAN box, and then iOS device was able to connect to that share and the LAN box showed that the iOS device was going through a relay. I'm kind of lost as to what to try next and would love some suggestions!

Have a 1515+ on my network running Sync 2.5.4 and pfSense is showing that it's going nuts making calls to the 169.254.x.x address space (which from what I've read is the address space devices use only when they don't get an address from a DHCP server)... it's definitely Sync doing it on the NAS, because when I stop the service on the NAS, the blocked entries in the firewall log stop... if I start Sync back up, the log entries start rolling in again. I have about 10 computers on my network also running the desktop versions of Sync and none of them make so much noise on the LAN, only the NAS. Anyone know why it's doing that? is it normal? is there a way to stop it? TIA

Just tried the help on that page and I still don't get the overlay icons... what's strange is, after registering the DLL files per the instructions (I copy/pasted the Explorer URL and DLL file names quoted so I know they were exact) I can still delete those files even after a restart... the documentation says if they're registered, you won't be able to delete them because the system will see them as in use. Screenshot attached just shows registering the one, but I did the x64 and x86 versions.

On all my Windows 10 boxes (6 of them) I've lost all the Explorer icons... I've tried reinstalling Sync and nothing corrects it... I deleted the old 2.4.x registry keys for the ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers prior to reinstalling Sync and it seems the 2.5.x installer is not adding new ones. Anyone else have this issue and know of a way to correct it?
