  1. If I don't enter the predefined host by hand, the peers are not detected. I'm not going to to enter them manually every time I access a new WiFi network.
  2. So that's the only solution so far? I'm also thinking to switch to another service, I would also prefer to stick to sync. But I also need to know if I need to wait and how much. In my group (small academic research group) we gave up already on Sync and just bought a NAS with some synchronization software, it does the trick My typical application is to transfer files between my different devices without having to think about it, so using the local network only. The solutions you propose are too much of hassle for me: having a proxy or a VPN would be too slow and unreliable (the GFW is constantly changing...) and the predefined host is not a good option because if I connect to another local network, it's likely that the IP of my devices will change and so far the app on android does not always save properly the predefined host settings. Ideally a kind of local tracker within the local network would be the best.
