  1. this is quite an old thread however relevant. @jbb & @macula as i am looking to do the same. 1. Are you still having problems with Resilio and syncing DevonThink databases? (assuming both computer db are closed when syncing or at least in the final sync) 2. How does Resilio handle versioning considering DTO (DevonThink Office) are just scrambled pointers? Be curious if you've known how to find those previous version files either within Resilio or DTO? The other alternative here is to use WebDAV as DTO as a remote database. I am having little luck (aka tech know how) with my router and settings...
  2. I have 2 computers (office and home) which syncs via a NAS If I put ignoreList on the NAS, would this mean that - ComputerA (on changes) syncs to the NAS however - NAS (has ignoreList) thus will never sync to Computer B? - if my understanding is correct, the IgnoreList will not save any 'change updates' and thus not propagate out to subscribers. Scenario: I want to sync my settings/ temporary folder/ downloads between Computer A and computer B, however the computers are never on at the same time, hence the NAS in between. Effectively what I THINK I am looking for is a 'selective versioning/ archiving'
  3. @bartplessers - interesting conversation! I was looking for something of the nature to have Resilio Web Access remotely (ie. Outside my network). Can I ask the following: 1. Tonido suggest using URL - however would this mean you need a static IP address or purchase dynamic dns? (I've never done this before - just reading about it earlier) 2. Any security issues should consider since, now URL is accessible publicly and only needs a username/ password? Apologies for the basic questions, am looking for a way to remote access, however don't know too much about network security/ access etc.
  4. Just to add to this, as I sync to my NAS, and it keeps a copy, however I would like the NAS not to hold any archived versions. ie. It keeps my 'downloads/ tempory' folder sync across 3 computers. I cannot put the folder into the ignore list NOR can I not send to the NAS, as my office, client and home PCs are only on one at a time..
  5. +1 I am trying to move completely away from Dropbox and would like the verisioning to also occur. See here: Versioning - Same Versions On All Clients By allowing that to happen, then you can also have the GUI retrieval or at least consolidation of file versions.
  6. +1 this would be useful. As an FYI: I use keyboard maestro to trigger on and off Resilio at specific intervals in the day morning and afternoon and night . Kind of defeats the purpose of keeping an archival versioning,... however similar to Dropbox, even if you are sitting idle with Resilio there is some processing happening continuously throughout so it drains the MBP 30-50% faster.
  7. it had some funny moments, however could not replicate twice. I am be off topic here and probably because of my understanding of how selective sync should or shouldn't work. However Helen is right by default it should download/ sync all files. That said, Helen - can you confirm the following... Scenario: FOLDER A (selective sync) --- SUB-FOLDER B (full sync) 1. In order to get Sub-Folder B - to be full sync, right click the place holder folder (this place holder folder - you cannot see any files/ folders below), and 'sync to device'. THEN, you need to click on ACTUAL folder 'sync to device' in order for the files to download. IE - you need to sync to device twice? This means, all folders only get a PLACEHOLDER first, and until you click 'sync to device' - you will never see the place holder files? 2. Folder A: Anything which goes into A gets a place holder. If you delete, or rename the place holder, it does what it does. (delete/ renaming) 3. SubFolder B. Anything which goes into B - gets a file synced. - if you delete, you get the place holder file. If you delete the place holder, it deletes the file)
  8. +1 Bump. Sync should keep as links. There are discussions since 2013/2014 re: for the option to have it configurable for the user, however the basic premise should be links as links...
  9. +1 - if you select to 'sync' a folder, it should sync all contents of that folder by default.
  10. +1 to this for sure!! Versioning or archive history to be done selectively would be great to minimise the amount of space it would consume. i keep most of folders of work and home computer in sync and it would be great to have My Documents folder have 30 day history, however some other ones are 5 days.
  11. ^ I thought it was only me who had this problem. I posted it here "https://forum.resilio.com/topic/43932-closed-suddenly-linked-devices-are-lost-on-1pc-now-re-syncing-or-doing-something/ - however no proper resolution for me except to resync again. My only advice (as I don't completely trust my understanding of Resilio of the process of syncing) - especially when trying to sync two existing directory (even if they should be the same...) I deleted all files from my target computer so that it synced from the original. - couldn't bear the risk of Resilio somehow deleting any files as I've seen happen in dropbox quite a few times. At least I am confident that dropbox keeps an archive. Would like to know if you guys do find a solution to this.
  12. Thanks @RomanZ - so to dumb this down.. 1. If the corporate firewall does not allow UDP transfer (not via HTTP/ HTTPS) - then I am out of luck what so ever. 2. If it happens by chance that they do support UDP through some ports - THEN - My home network - I'd need do port forwarding on my router to my peers (or NAS in this instance) 2. AND From my corporate office MBP - I'd need to update the 'conf' - to add in that peer which was NAT-ed?
  13. I know this is an old thread, however I've searched the forums and was not able to find an answer.. caveat: I am not a networking person do don't really understand who the synching works despite reading https://help.resilio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204754759-What-ports-and-protocols-are-used-by-Sync- multiple times. I am also behind a corporate firewall for enterprise organisation. 1. I can sync via my mobile internet to my home network okay 2. From the corporate office, it says 'no trackers available' - been using Dropbox okay for many years and read in this forum/ another post dropbox uses HTTP so its fine.. - the Help article above, seems to state that Resilio is already using HTTP so it should work? So what in the sync.conf file should I be updating? a) corporate network - gives no trackers (how would I go about inputting any configuration for HTTPS for this?) - or am I completely wrong about this? b) corporate network - it would be almost impossible for the corporate office to add a new custom rule for myself - especially using an 'unauthorised' software which potentially save 'corporate' documents into my 'personal' cloud drive.. so not too sure what I can do here - if any? I'm not too sure how to go about troubleshooting this step by step, so any instructions for a lay person would be most welcomed.
  14. Hi @jpap, this is also an issue I have posted here concerned with MBP battery drain. I have 2x MBP writing to a NAS. Wife has 2x MBP writing to her own store on the NAS. My current solution is: use Keyboard Maestro - to schedule activating of Resilio at key times in the day for 30mins and then kill off then application. Seemed to work okay for now. I have tried using the scheduler, however it still seems to utilise some CPU - I don't have a way to track the history utilisation of a specific process for the CPU, but if somebody does know, I'd be keen to test this!
  15. Just an update to this, I don't know if I did actually end up loosing any files via BTSYNC. As it was my work computer, I couldn’t' afford the time to troubleshoot, my only backup was via dropbox. It was a pain in the butt resyncing it all again. Looked at the archive folders - just restored all of it, including old copies...
  16. @Helen - the FAQ tells us how to download a sample file, however how do you export the current file and import it into another computer? I can't seem to see the same sync.conf file in the Application Support directory (OSX)?? There are configurations it would be good to sync such as: 1. All the folder structures - is this possible? 2. Scheduling If you copy the sync.conf file over to the AppSupport directory, then would it be safe to assume, any WebUI changes there would be reflected to the newly created sync.conf file or and either/or situation. Either you use WebUI OR sync.conf file, not combination of both?
  17. My Setup 1x NAS 2x PCs 1x mobile. 1 of the PC (Macs) - suddenly lost all linked devices. You can see from the picture the NAS (TOP SCREEN) shows 2 additional devices linked, but the 2nd screen (PC) which is by itself? The keys are still the same. I was forced to re-enter in the same keys again to link the devices now all devices seem to uploading and downloading 'something' - it shows the PC which was re-added to the linked device is indexing all over again (there are approx 700GB of data to be sync/ indexed) I've also subsequently lost my mobile as well on this, and now need to sync my directories again?!! 1. How do I ensure that nothing has been deleted? Looking at the logs from the UI, it seem to suggest new files have been uploaded... (!!!!!!) 2. Is this disappearing trick a bug? And if so or not, are there configuration files which could be backed up so it doesn't happen again?
  18. Saw the scheduling service which is great, however perhaps it is my naitiety however I am unable to schedule in 15min increments. We work with multiple laptops and would like the service to be minimise so as not to chew up power. Dropbox and Resilio continual monitor can reduce battery life in a day by 2-4times if run all day.
  19. BUMP! I've been an avid dropbox user for many many years and my ass has been saved through their file versioning... working within teams and multiple updates from many users often result in backtracking where people override files or sometimes SYNC issues from myself happens and would like to see the history/ restore of the files from any workstation (especially from my OWN workstations where I've made the error) - yes, this may chew lots of data storage, however storage is becoming cheaper and cheaper.
  20. thanks Helen for your rply 1a. Long scan interval is on the NAS, and the NAS is a dumb(?) file storage at best? As all the computer has a 10min folder rescan interval - why would you need the NAS to have a short scan interval? - would this not keep the NAS continually awake every 10mins performing a folder rescan? 1b. Will be tweaking the 180 days archive. I suspect it will generate a lot of archive files; thus i lowered the file size of archived files for <50MB files as I generally work with documents. Does the archive support archive of certain file types only? (ie. WORD, EXCEL, PPTX?) so it doesn't store movies/ mp3s etc. I do have 2-3TB of space spare, hence trial of extending archiving.. could be dangerous I know, especially where changing folder structures 2. Keyboard Maestro is used in this instance as a scheduling tool. I use it to 'open' and then 'force quit' Resilio - is that problematic? I have found in about 10mins, Resilio has effectively synced any document changes along the day, and performing this 3x a day keeps it synced nicely. I do the same with dropbox, spin it up for 10mins along with Resilio, then close it all off. Battery life on a MBP can be extended almost 2x longer as I sync a lot of directories. When you refer to settings, as I don't change the settings on the NAS often and also the PC, then I only need a short window to 'sync'? If I do change settings, then I must remember to keep it open for a longer period to 'save settings'? Any catches to that thinking? 3. The NAS being the central hub, should have all changed file versions. What I am asking, is there any way I can get to those changed file versions via Resilio from the NAS? (I am not wanting to log into the NAS to retrieve the files). Ideally, I'd like those 'archived files' to be 'resynced' back to my primary computer (ie. How dropbox works so I can have a complete history of all changes). hope this makes sense as I am looking to completely replace dropbox - however retain that archiving strategy.
  21. if your directories are the same yes. But if they are slightly different then it will merge them obviously. I had a NAS + 2x computers where I deleted some folders however Resilio brought them back to life (aka - it wasn't indexed as yet). id let it run its syncing itself shouldn't be any harm... I had 3+ TB.
