Is there a correct procedure to follow to switch, on Windows, from running Sync as a service to running it as a regular program (and vice-versa?) If you just uninstall and reinstall running it the other way, all settings are lost, presumably because they are stored in different places.

I'm periodically getting "Sync encountered some errors while synchronizing your files", "Cannot download n files" (where n is a number), "These files cannot be downloaded as there are no source peers online for too long time." Isn't this a normal condition which Sync ought to handle without throwing up an error? It makes it seem that Sync is unsuitable for any kind of portable device which may not be connected all the time. In any case, after comparing all online peers (using another program,) there aren't any unsync'd files anyway, which is thoroughly confusing.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I was expecting to get an email when there was an update, but that didn't happen. Unfortunately, this doesn't stop the Drobo Dashboard nagging me on a daily basis! But thanks for answering anyway.

The version of Resilio Sync supplied by Drobo is not current. Instead, I'm running the current one from the Resilio web site. The Drobo keeps wanting to update it. I let it do so once, to see what happened: it back-levelled it. I'd like to prevent the Drobo checking that one app, but all I can see is a way to stop it checking all of them, and that doesn't actually stop it saying there's a new version! Drobo's support pages barely work and their own support seem pretty clueless, so I'm hoping someone here will have an answer to this. If not, sorry for wasting your time.

The website help for forcing sync to the LAN contains this statement: "To ensure peer discovery, enable multicasts in LAN and ensure that these go through Wi-Fi <-> Ethernet if peers are in different subnets. " The link in it doesn't appear to explain enabling multicast in the LAN, and I don't understand how to ensure "these go through Wi-Fi <-> Ethernet". Can someone clarify these please (for Windows primarily, but I have one Linux too)?

Helen, Thank you. I would have though the more logical place to show that a relay server is in use would be in the list of devices. I realise that use of a relay server can be specified for each individual folder, but for any given server at any moment in time, I don't see how it could have some folders connected using a relay server and some connected *not* using a relay server. (If one folder connection can get through without a relay server, they all can.)

To aid mixed Windows and *nix environments, it would be helpful to allow use of / as a directory delimiter in IgnoreList on Windows, just as it is on *nix. / Isn't valid in file or directory names on Windows, so there would be no conflict with actual names. (I believe that some parts of the Windows API even accept / as a directory delimiter.)

I've a few questions as a new user that I haven't found answers to. 1: How can I tell if a particular Windows PC is using a relay server to sync? I have Resilio Sync installed as a service if that makes any difference. 2: How can I tell if a sync operation is actually in progress? (More generally: how to monitor Sync's activity?) 3: The IgnoreList file appears to apply to just the device on which it is located (i.e. it isn't shared between devices). Am I correct? 4: Does the IgnoreList file on a device (PC, NAS, whatever) prevent Sync on that device from sending, or receiving, or both, any listed items? Any help appreciated (including pointing me to where I should have found this information myself!)
