  1. Hi! Just want your advice which way forward is the best. I have a network of some Raspberry Pi 2 running older versions of sync: BitTorrent Sync 2.3.3 (296) Yesterday I tried to upgrade 1 of these Pis with the latest armhf-version: Resilio Sync 2.5.12 (1191) The upgrade went well and initially no problems. Server was runing fine, web-gui working fine. The problems: 1. I started so see these in the logs on the Pi with the latest version: [20180223 23:48:50.549] SF[XXXX] [XXXX]: Ignoring "peers" message [20180223 23:48:50.662] SF[XXXX] [XXXX]: Ignoring "peers" message [20180223 23:48:58.540] SF[XXXX] [XXXX]: Ignoring "peers" message [20180223 23:48:59.688] SF[XXXX] [XXXX]: Ignoring "peers" message 2. My old laptop running Linux BitTorrent Sync 2.3.3 (296) started to act strange: btsync process went 100% and memory usage went to the roof. The laptop was unresponsive. The only strange thing in the log on my laptop was: [20180223 21:58:53.395] assert failed /home/jenkins/slave-root/jenkins-Build-Sync-Manually-1668/KickSocket.cpp:222 [20180223 21:58:53.396] assert failed /home/jenkins/slave-root/jenkins-Build-Sync-Manually-1668/KickSocket.cpp:222 [20180223 21:58:53.396] assert failed /home/jenkins/slave-root/jenkins-Build-Sync-Manually-1668/KickSocket.cpp:222 [20180223 21:58:53.396] assert failed /home/jenkins/slave-root/jenkins-Build-Sync-Manually-1668/KickSocket.cpp:222 Solution for now: Downgraded sync on Raspberry Pi 2 to the previous version so I could work with my old Linux laptop. Question: Should I upgrade my desktop-systems before I upgrade the Raspberry Pi servers? Which way forward in a mixed environment is the best? Thanks for a great product! Cheers!
  2. Hi everyone, I have been using Resilio Sync for quite some time now and everything worked just fine until last week when I saw there was no syncing, no peer connection. Maybe a Windows 10 Pro update caused it, maybe the router, maybe the NAS, maybe the antivirus-firewall, I don't know, not yet anyway. I am using R Sync on an Asustor NAS (apk v2.4.4.) and on several computers (v2.5.10, now updated to 2.5.12). I only have local syncing so I have so far stayed away from relay and tracker servers. However, and this is where I definitely made a mistake, last week, becoming increasingly frustrated with all of this, in order to solve the problems, I downloaded a sample/default sync.conf and double-clicked it. It has not made things any better :-). The two pictures show (1) the NAS RSync setting where (in Dutch) it says that connection settings have been overwritten by config. Port is 5556 and on another tab yet another port. The second picture (2) shows a setting on one of my computers (listening port is 8888). FYI: I have ssh-ed into the NAS and I can only find json files referring to config and yes, also includes a port setting. On the computer more or less the same things. I haven't got a clue whether all those ports should be the same and where to start. Also, I should mention that, when ticking the tracker server, syncing does work. The thing is that everyting for me is local so I would like to stay on the LAN. So, let me get to my question, and I would appreciate your help a lot!: Without reinstalling Resilio Sync on NAS and computers, can I go back from the current situation, delete/change the settings that this default sync.conf has changed? If yes, how? If no, what can I do to fix this problem? If you need any additional information, just let me know. Thanks in advance for your help! Regards Hans
  3. Hi all, I have two computers (a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini) directly connected with a pair of 10Gbps ethernet adapters. I use the MacMini as a file server. Both computers also have another 1Gbps ethernet adapter used to access Internet and other devices in my LAN, but enabling/disabling them does not affect what I am going to describe. Resilio Sync Home (Version 2.5.6) is installed in both computers. It correctly identifies the 10Gbps link and uses it, but the max speed I am able to achieve is in between 50-70 MB/s over that link – this number reported by both Resilio UI and a network monitor app. I have LAN encryption disabled. Attached you can find the advanced config I am currently using in both machines. Obviously, the link itself is working correctly — I can share and read over 10Gbps ethernet the MacMini's SSD by using AFP or SMB3 at 450MB/s, that is SSD max speed. Any clue? Thanks! Alessandro
  4. Hi, I would like to do this thread to state the situation about speed and maybe ask a few questions to have clear answers. So, I have a reasonable semi pro setup on my LAN, carrier grade equipment + cat 5E at minimum UTP. several hosts, as NAS, LINUX servers, Xenserver, differents others hosts,... So what I obtain generally is between 30MB and 50 MB. I didn't change anything about the default settings. So the transfer are always encrypted. Since we can all agree that the max speed should be 110MB maybe there are reasons for our general speed. So I would like to ask, when the interface indicates a speed does that count the part of the encryption in it or is it the actual amount of real data transfered? if no, how much is the encryption taken on the network? what other things should we take in consideration? Since on my setup and any small company setup there would be certainly 3 or 5 hosts having all files so able to transfer every files asked, why shouldn't we be able to transfer at max speed of the LAN besides HDD problems of course which couldn't be more marginal than on a setup with several hosts?
  5. I'm having an issue where the Sync is repeatedly dropping its connection, displaying "No network connection" every few mins. Currently, I'm trying to sync a load of files to a new machine (approx 2.5TB), with a one of the machines it's syncing with being on the same network. I'm seeing speeds shoot up to 100MB/s+ and then fall down to nothing, then back up and back down again. Then I'll check back intermittently and it'll be showing "No network connection". Restarting the machine fixes the issue, or after leaving it for a while (maybe 5-10 mins) it seems to resume syncing. The machine is running on Windows 7, directly wired into the router, and the other machine is running OSX 10.10.5 and is also wired into the router. Any help would be much appreciated.
  6. Have a relatively simple setup with FreeNAS running BTSync plugin at version 2.3.8. Also running the iOS client 2.3.4. If I do the following, I cannot get the iOS device to find the FreeNAS server and start doing a camera roll backup: Configure the FreeNAS btsync plugin to disable non-LAN connections: folder_defaults.use_relay = false folder_defaults.use_tracker = false folder_defaults.use_lan_broadcase = true Enable "Camera backup" on iOS device, email myself the link. Go to browser UI for FreeNAS btsync plugin, go to cogwheel at top right corner, select "Manual connection". Paste link from email, choose storage location. btsync web UI shows added folder and shows "Pending approval". Go to iOS device and approve the connection. Observed Results: FreeNAS btsync UI shows folder with "No peers". iOS device shows "Camera backup" with "Connect to a device" notice. Expected Results: iOS device should see the folder on the FreeNAS btsync service and start backing up the items from the camera roll. Alternate Flow: If I enable relay and tracker, it starts syncing. Can this work with LAN-ONLY setup?
  7. I have had great success in the past, but am currently experiencing very slow download speed on Sync (Android) over my LAN! (6.4 kb/S max, it seems). I have one synced NAS attached via ethernet cable to router. I have 3 windows PCs synced connected via Wifi, all fully synced. In the past, I have had very good download speeds via Wifi to my android device (Dell Venue 8). I recently wanted to "reset" my sync so I erased the sdcard, uninstalled Sync, and reinstalled and reconnected Android Sync via QR code. Now my max download speed to the Android device is 6.4kB/s! Previous download speeds were up to 2MB/s. Where should I be looking to figure out where the bottleneck is?
  8. Hello, I want to sync files between my Mac and my iOS devices without touching the internet. In the Mac client there are optoins to disable relay servers, trackers and to use only the LAN. But if I use these settings, BTsync on my iPad no longer sees the Mac and vice cersa. The iOS App does not provide these settings. Is there a possibility to sync locally with iOS? Please, can anyone help me? RH
  9. Hey Guys - I've got a basic question to ask, please. I subscribe to BTSync Pro and recently reinstalled the OS (Windows 10 x64) on one of my PCs. When installing BTSync, I saw that I had the option to install it as a service so did so. I set the credentials and am able to access the WebUI via http://localhost:8888. When trying to access the same WebUI from other systems on my LAN (http://newpchostname:8888), it does not work. I looked all through the preferences, advanced preferences, and searched online to find out how (if possible) to enable LAN system access, but so far haven't had luck. So - is there a way to make BTSync for Windows installed as a service accessable from other LAN PCs? My current guess is that the binding would have to be changed, but am not 100% of the format it needs to be in for Windows. The PC it's installed on is pretty basic and just has a single ethernet NIC, bluletooth, and WiFI as adapters. Thanks!
  10. We are trying to sync two Macs across a Gigabit wired LAN. Here are the settings. Not sure why we are maxing out at 160 KB/sec?? I've tried disabling encryption-over-LAN. Any other suggestions?
