  3. I'm trying to sync between two ubuntu computers. Sometimes I drop a directory into the sync folder, and it shows up on the other computer (yay!), but I can't write to it b/c the normal user isn't in the file access control list. The only user with file access control is the rslsync user under which Relisio is running. So I have to run setfacl every time a new directory is copied over. This can't be an unusual problem. Can anyone suggest a work-around?
  4. Hi, when I start rslsync I get the error: Can't lock pid file. It seems Resilio Sync is already running with pid NNNNN I suppose that rslsync either crashed or was killed and the pid file was not deleted. Now it is blocking any new instance of rslsync. Where is the pid file that I can delete it manually? Thanks!
  5. hi Is there a way to set the niceness of resilio-sync? If i recall correctly this was a parameter available during the btsync CLI setup process. How do i set in resilio-sync please? OS = OSMC Cheers, Geoff
  6. Here's my setup: Main computer: Windows 10, only one internal HDD Second computer: Linux Mint, one internal HDD for the system, one external usb hdd for all my documents/files/folders I'm syncing some folders from the main computer to the external hdd on the second computer. It's a read and write situation on both. It worked flawlessly for over a year. But since the last Resilio update it stopped. I can't access the external HDD on the second computer via Resilio anymore. So I can't add folder, I can't sync anything. When I try to add the folder, I navigate to the the external hdd, but it never appears, no matter how long I wait. (see picture) Otherwise, this external hdd works well and is accessible via the file explorer of the system. Nothing has changed, apart from the resilio update... Tried and tried to resolve this, but no luck, and I didnt find anything on this forum or on the web to help me. Any ideas???
  7. I followed the guide here https://help.getsync.com/hc/en-us/articles/211928186-Upgrade-on-dekstops-BitTorrent-Sync-Resilio-Sync- on how to migrate an older btsync setup to resilio. I download the Binary and extract it, I Place it in my Home------>----->Bin directory. Next to the btsync Binary. I first run Killall btsync to stop the process. This works fine. I then run systemctl start rslsync. Sometimes this works, other times it does not. If it does work. I run Systemctl enable rslsync. I then check the status with systemctl status rslsync. The status comes back with an error of 1 and then exits. If I try to install from AUR with Yaourt the package installs fine but the process has the same error as when I try to launch it manually. If there is something I am missing, please let me know. If I rename the new binary to btsync. It will run correctly but then it thinks it is a new user and wants a new user name and can not find the old file paths. I will post a screen shot of the error at a later point today.
  8. Hi, there's a small but annoying problem with your repository that blocks our automated installs on Ubuntu 16.04 (LTE); Error:9 http://linux-packages.resilio.com/resilio-sync/deb xenial Release 403 Forbidden [IP: 54.230.230.178 80] Old:10 https://repo.skype.com/deb stable InRelease Reading Package Lists... Done E: The repository 'http://linux-packages.resilio.com/resilio-sync/deb xenial Release' does not have a Release file. N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default. N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details. I have no experience with creating repo's so can't be of much help here, but would be very glad if this was corrected. Also, in you debian/ubuntu install instructions you can replace 'manual' adding of repository with apt-add-repository makes it slightly more user friendly Thanks for your great work!
  9. Hi, on my Linux install of BTSync, in my phone camera backup directory most of the files are in the .sync/Archive directory. What is this for and why are they in there? Thanks, Jamie
  10. Hello, I've run into this problem already a couple of times: whenever I re-install a machine (running on Debian or Ubuntu), I first backup all the keys, then re-add all the folder after installation. Kind of tedious, given the fact that the data storage has not changed... I thought, it would be enough to backup /etc/resilio-sync/ /var/lib/resilio-sync/ ... and copy these folders back after re-installation Resilio Sync. Unfortunately, I'm greeted with the first-time installation dialog asking me to create a new user for the web-ui, which indeed does create a new .SyncUserXXXXXXXXXX in /var/lib/resilio-sync/ . I've been really scratching my head on how to just let Resilio Sync pick up the existing profile? Why doesn't it recognize the existing profile and wants to create a new one? I'm aware of this thread, but it didn't help or I didn't understand how it would apply to my situation. Thanks! Additional information: I've not changed any standard storage paths, i.e. /etc/resilio-sync/config.json points to: "storage_path" : "/var/lib/resilio-sync/",
  11. I recently ran a yum update on my computer running resilio sync and after a reboot noticed that all the settings were gone. Additionally, it could no longer load the folder list from where my folders are in the WebUI. I am unsure how to resolve this issue or how to roll-back to a previous version.
  12. When I updated from 2.2 to 2.3 I lost all my settings (login, list of synced folders,etc...) I thought that I misread the update warnings and went ahead and reset my account and all my folders. But now each time I restart my machine, all btsync settings are lost again. This did not occur after the updates of my mac and windows machines. I have updated to the latest 2.3.3 but the problem is the same. I have not changed any file permissions in my sync install folder and they seem to be fine. I am using using linux mint 17 - 64 bit. I have been using btsync since the early beta version, love it and a lot of my work is now dependent on it. Some help will be greatly appreciated!
  13. Update: Never mind, i figured it out. I just deleted the folder i was trying to select as the target and re-created it from the PI and it worked fine. Must have been some weird permissions thing with mapping an NFS share from a windows server to a Linux client or something sync didn't like about it OK, so I'm having issues getting sync to write into a mounted NFS share on Linux. first some background: there are 3 machines involved. 2 windows servers (one is 2016, the other 2008) 1 Raspberry PI The Server 2016 server is a host on my network and is my main file server and database server The Raspberry PI is a host on my network in the DMZ and is the one running sync The Server 2008 server is a VPS that has files i want to back up from semi-regularly and is also running sync my issue is that if i expose an NFS share on the Server 2016 box, then mount it on the Pi, i can write to said share with any user (even running sudo -u nobody touch /mnt/VPS-backup/test.text works absolutly fine), however sync reports that i don't have permissions to write to said folder when i try to add a manual connection. So I'm wondering, is this kind of thing not possible with sync (ignoring the obvious issue that if sync starts and the NFS share isn't mounted, it may just assume the folder is empty and sync the VPS server accordingly, which is fine because a script copy's the files to be backed up into a temporary folder which is synced) or am i missing something?
  14. This is regarding the Installing Sync Package On Linux guide, the following section: In what case would I want to do sudo systemctl enable resilio-sync vs systemctl --user enable resilio-sync I don't understand what the advantage over the other is and what is supposed to be "best practice"? And am I supposed to run sudo systemctl enable resilio-sync as the user rslsync or as root? Thanks for any clarifications?
  15. I have Sync 2.3.8 running on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (64 bit), backing up files from my Android phone to an external hard drive (file system is NTFS). Only 2 directories are being synced, and there are only 500 or so files total. Sync is constantly using 25% or more of my CPU, and if I go to the gui screen both folders constantly show they are indexing. The debug logs are filling up rapidly, and there's 2.4 GB of files in the log directory. It's creating a new sync.log file every six or seven minutes, with hundreds of new lines being created every second. There are also several journal files which look like they contain similar information to the sync.log. Any suggestions? It's seriously impacting the performance of my system, and while I love having my photos automatically moved it's not worth it to have this running so inefficiently. Here's a sample of the sync.log: [20160713 22:24:10.582] JOURNAL[B03D]: assign file_id 2065:153054 to entry with path "/media/nhlavace/Elements/hsync/DCIM/Camera/VID_20160504_185951.mp4" [20160713 22:24:10.582] [OnNotifyFileChange] "/media/nhlavace/Elements/hsync/DCIM/Camera/VID_20160504_185951.mp4" [20160713 22:24:10.582] JOURNAL[B03D]: remote entry job complete for entry "/media/nhlavace/Elements/hsync/DCIM/Camera/VID_20160504_185951.mp4" [20160713 22:24:10.582] JOURNAL[B03D]: { "dl_failed": false, "file_hash": "353F85EDBDCDB20C10380D163D83E71B41B1C1CC", "file_id": "2065:153054", "fs_error": false, "have_pieces": 931, "ignored": false, "info_hash": "A9CDCE81A6A64DD49EE95A4ECDCEE7C31BBB44EE", "invalidated": false, "link_content": "", "locked": false, "mtime": 1462402791, "name_on_disk": "VID_20160504_185951.mp4", "otime": 204, "owner": "11826B1AC930F4A97EE4BE6A55D5C2B5EEB0BBB6", "path": "/media/nhlavace/Elements/hsync/DCIM/Camera/VID_20160504_185951.mp4", "perm": 420, "ph_ext": ".bts", "placeholder": false, "pvi": "pvi[NULL]", "selected_for_dl": true, "size": 30483883, "state": 1, "time": 1462402791, "total_pieces": 931, "type": 1 } [20160713 22:24:10.673] JOURNAL[B03D]: tf completed for "/media/nhlavace/Elements/hsync/DCIM/Camera/VID_20160507_130532.mp4" - 16. I use linux (Fedora 25), but I found a bunch of people with the same problem in different OS's So, each time I ran Resilio I either got asked to configure it as if for the first time, which mean I lost all my previos configuration and peers, or and old outdated configuration showed up, which was useless by the time I came across it. The cause? It turn out that, in Linux -don't know the rest of the OS's- Resilio creates a .sync hidden folder in whichever folder you happen to be on when you run it. It is pretty clear if you are in a terminal window (or command prompt). If you run it from a shortcut in Windows I guess it is either the folder where the exec is located, or the path set in the shortcut or whichever folder the Windows Ferries happened to put you in when you ran the program. My solution was to create a scrip (batch file, what have you) which first CDs to a directory and then runs resilio, something like thus, Resilio creates a .sync folder in my /directorychosen directory and uses it every time. Hope it helps.
  17. I've noticed that Resilio now only runs on my Linux box while I'm actually SSH'd in. This seems to be a new development, and I'm not sure how it would have happened. Is this a setting that can be tweaked or is there something more funky going on?
  18. Detected another bug ... if I already had folders synced, and I change the { "device_name": "newname" } it will crash the ARM/Linux version of Sync. I changed it back to the old name and at least my VPS sync (2.4.2) doesn't seem to repeatedly crash. My Raspberry Pi sync (2.4.1) crashes about once every few hours even for only two folders synced.
  19. Hi, I recently purchased Sync Pro from Resilio, but it seems to be having issues on my headless Raspberry Pi 3 backup server. My setup is as follows: Raspberry Pi 3 with Raspbian Jessie Lite Resilio Sync 2.4.1 for Linux ARM During the install process, I've created the following Sync configuration file: { "device_name": "Raspberry Pi Backup", "listening_port" : 0, "pid_file" : "/var/run/btsync.pid", "use_upnp" : true, "download_limit" : 0, "upload_limit" : 0, "webui": { "listen" : "0.0.0.0:8888", "login" : "admin", "password_hash" : "MY_HASH_HERE" }, "recv_buf_size" : 64, "send_buf_size" : 64, "max_file_size_for_versioning" : 250 } I've successfully synced a few folders, but now the process seems to die about midway through new folders. The only way to get it back is to reboot the Raspberry Pi because restarting the process asks for a Sync id again rather than using the already existing id. I've read in the forums that Sync has some issues with memory management. Does this mean Raspberry Pi devices should not be used? I thought NAS drives have low memory too, so how come those work? Any information would be helpful. My goal here was to back up the various directories in my Mac user directory to the Raspberry Pi. Thanks,
  20. A few days ago I needed to move a shared directory to a new location, since the old location was running out of space. This is on Ubuntu 16.04, and it's using an encrypted key. I initially set up Resilio using the steps described at https://help.getsync.com/hc/en-us/articles/206178924-Installing-Sync-package-on-Linux To move the store I did this: Used the Linux web UI to disconnect and remove the existing location Copied the contents of the share directory using "sudo cp -a [old location] [new location]" Copied the encrypted key from Resilio on my Mac, and entered it in the Linux web UI Selected the directory where I had copied the files back in step 2. Now there are a couple of things that have me concerned. The "indexing" step seems to be taking an extremely long time. On my Mac Resilio reports the size as 12.95GB. In the Linux web UI it's gradually growing. But, a little over 5 hours ago it was at 3.53GB and now it's at 4.03GB. At this rate indexing will take several days. Is this normal? The system is not maxed out for CPU, disk access, memory, or bandwidth, so what's holding it back? My Mac reports that the total data size is 14.51GB, but on the Linux box the total file size (from "du -sh") is currently at about 26GB and growing. It's kind of a race to see if the indexing finishes before the partition runs out of space, which is odd since it's already using nearly 2x the space I'd expect. Can anyone offer suggestions or advice on this? Did I screw something up, and if so what should I have done differently?
  21. Good day, I've been successfully running btsync 1.3.8 on CentOS 7.3. I am looking to update to latest (1.4.1) and have a few questions: 1. The upgrade instructions state I need to place the rslsync along btsync. Where is that? /var/lib/btsync/? /var/lib/btsync has a folder .SyncUserxxxxxxx. Is that the folder you mean by ".sync" 2. I have the old btsync repo under /etc/yum.repos.d If i add the new repo for resilio, will that work with above manual install? 3. Will old shares be preserved? Thank you,
  22. Hi, I've recently moved from Sync to Resilio on a Raspberry Pi running Raspbian. I had to restart the computer it's installed on and now when I go to the WebGui there aren't any of the settings or folders I had configured. This includes the licence file to upgrade to Pro. I followed the instructions at: https://help.getsync.com/hc/en-us/articles/206178924 and all of the folders being synced are owned by the same user. Is there anything I can do to refresh to the previously set settings or is there anything I have overlooked in the install to prevent this happening next time I restart? Resilio and it's predecessor are great and I use it all the time. I don't want to migrate away from it if settings don't persist after a restart! Harold
  23. I am using Ubuntu 16.10. It took a while to set up due the documentation being a bit sparse. I am having an issue with permissions. Initially I was able to select my home folder however I needed to change the hosts file to allow my phone to access the laptop. I closed the browser and attempted to try again from scratch but this time instead of my username, Sync is using rslsync which does not have permission to write to my home folder. I have purged and started from fresh to no avail. How can I reset the whole process?
  24. Just a heads up for any one using the aur package on arch linux. It seems like the resilio sync from aur has the wrong pid_file option in the default config in /etc/. 25. I am trying to run Resilio Sync 2.4.1 on a Raspberry pi 3 running Raspbian. I followed these instructions: Installing Sync Package On Linux and the service comes up with two instances running, here is the output of ps -axu | grep resil to demonstrate: rslsync 660 0.1 0.7 84232 7544 ? Ssl 14:56 0:03 /usr/bin/rslsync --config /etc/resilio-sync/config.json pi 1160 0.1 0.7 70872 6636 ? Ssl 14:56 0:02 /usr/bin/rslsync --config /home/pi/.config/resilio-sync/config.json I have a resilio-sync direction in /etc/ with the following files in it: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 201 Sep 29 08:55 config.json -rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 496 Sep 29 08:54 init_user_config.sh -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 222 Sep 29 08:54 user_config.json and I have a launch script in in /etc/init.d/. These should all be vanilla from the install instructions but I can't figure out why two instance are launching? the config.json looks like this: { "storage_path" : "/var/lib/resilio-sync/", "pid_file" : "/var/run/resilio-sync/sync.pid", "agree_to_EULA": "yes", "webui" : { "listen" : "0.0.0.0:8888" } } And the user_config.json looks like this: { "storage_path" : "{HOME}/.config/resilio-sync/storage", "pid_file" : "{HOME}/.config/resilio-sync/sync.pid", "agree_to_EULA": "yes", "webui" : { "listen" : "127.0.0.1:8888" } } I'm also curious how to change the user that is used to launch the service at boot. I'd prefer the user "pi" over the user "rslsync" since it will be easier to manage the permissions.
