  1. Hi everybody, On a Qnap Nas, I just wonder how you can set up BTsync on the folder "/share" (the root one)? During the set up process, BTsync doesn't allow me to do this... See screenshot here : I think it's all about permissions right, even if I'm logged in as "admin" (=root account on Qnap Nas). For the moment BTsync just allow me to choose a subfolder but we already have folders (for example : ADMIN, ARCHIVES, LIBRARIES, WORK) inside the "/share". These folders have been previously synced with RTRR protocol (approx. 3TB of datas). Now we want to
  2. Hello, I have the pro version of Bittorrent Sync and I guess to have found a bug. I have two installations, one with my own identity and another with a test identity. Now the test: 1) Create a folder with some data to sync on the personal identity 2) Share the folder with the Android Device with the test identity and choose "Read Only" 3) Connect to the folder with the test identity 4) First, the granted permissions suddenly change to Read/Write and second, they are only changeable to Owner and Read/Write but not to Read only This can be reproduced at least on my fresh installation
  3. Hey Guys - I have a remote Linux box (Debian Squeeze) which for a couple of years have been manually transferring data from it to my local PC (Win 8.1) using FTP. Once local, I'd then have to sort it manually. I started using BTSync recently instead and wish I had thought to use it earlier. It's a better solution by far - especially as I can sync music folders with my phone! I've got an issue that I've run into that I need help with. Between my remote Linux and local Windows systems, I sync a single folder which has 10 static category folders inside of it. Based on labels and rules I
  4. Hi, I've been using Sync for a while now to backup my photos from my Android phone to an external drive. I just got a new iPhone and I want to use the same system as I have before. When I try to set it up, Sync automatically chooses a folder to back up to, which I don't want. I have tried just copying the key, and then trying to make a "manual connection" but that doesn't let me choose the folder either. How can I specify which folder I want my photos to be in? P.S. Can't really say that I'm enjoying 2.0 very much. Wtf happened?
  5. I am currently running Android 5 Lollipop with Sync installed. I am trying to point Sync's default save location to my Music folder on my SD card. However, I keep getting an error stating "Android OS restricts write access to this directory" wherever I try and create a folder or select a folder on my SD card. I thought this restriction had been removed in Lollipop so apps can write to their own created folders on SD cards? I can grant write access to other apps, such as file explorer apps which I can copy and move files with to the SD card with no issues. I really need to be able to
  6. Hello, first start of great Sync 2.0 and a big Problem: PC1 has a Folder e:\install PC2 has a Folder d:\install both was synced with 1.3.x before. Okay, I created the link on PC1, transfered it to PC2, and the Folder add Screen starts. Now I have to locate the Folder to save files. Standard is c:\users\name\bittorrent sync\install which is Logical. Now my Problem. I pressed the Change button and selected the install Folder on drive d, with the result of d:\install\install Okay, I thought, take only d: as the start Folder and the result is d:\\install which is wrong too. What have I done wrong?
  7. In 1.4 I was able to dictate exactly where one folder on one windows machine would sync to a different folder on another machine. Now with 2.0, whenever I sync a new folder it automatically syncs to the 'default folder' location on the other machines. Is there any way I can sync to any location other than the default one? Oh, I just figured out that If I set the first machine's folder to not 'sync all', then disconnect it on the second one, then reconnect, it will allow me to define a folder location other than the 'default folder'. I think with the new 2.0 redesign, a lot of functionality
  8. This may be a redundant feature but still... here goes. A simple lock icon to lock the ability to edit a specific folder. The locked folder is grayed out and dissapears from the list and appears whenever the "show locked folders" option is enabled. I have multiple files to sync and add or delete folders every day. Sometimes i accidentally remove folders that i shouldn't, and there is the chaos of several-dozens-of-folders-appearing-on-my-shared-list thing that i hate. Anyway this shouldn't be too hard to implement and it would help out a lot, especially for us who have certain permanent sh
  9. Hi all, I refer to 2.0 product version. This is the scenario: I have an android device and a pc desktop. The devices are linked. 1) For sync purpose I can choose a folder on pc and on android i see the creation of a folder that i can connect, but this folder has to be a new one, it is NO possible to choose a folder in android that already exist.. why? I would like sync and link a new folder in desktop and a folder in android that already exist. 2) Why is it no possible to start a new sync sharing from android device selecting a new folder, not one that was already configured with desktop c
  10. Hello guys! I have folders synced between my phone (android kitkat) and my laptop (windows 8.1 x64). The folder is originally from the phone, so the laptop has read-only permission. The problem is: I've put some folders to not sync into the bittorrentsync file of the phone called "ignorelist". for example: I synced my folder "whatsapp" from the phone with the laptop and put some folders inside the whatsapp folder to not sync with the peers. Those folders are syncing though. I attached the screenshots below. Do you guys know what the problem is here? thanks!!
  11. I have had some issues with my PC, so I had to reinstall my OS. I had a syncronized folder and now I want to sync that again without overwriting all the files I already have. When I attempt to connect the folder a message appears: "The folder is not empty: sync anyway?". Does BTSync detect the files it has already downloaded and just starts syncing new stuff or does it sync all over again? I just need to know this.
  12. Hi, my used sync folder (Linux, Raspberry) was located within a to small partition. Now I want to move this folder to another usb-device. I tried to set a symbolic link from old place to new location, but get an error in btsync (browser) gui How can I move sync folder without deleting peer and recreate it. I don't want to resync 10 GB with 3-4 clients over small network again any hints, tips are welcome Frank
  13. Hello, Granted, I'm a new user of Sync, but I had a question about timestamps that I haven't seen addressed. I have two computers both running Windows 7 x64 - a desktop and a laptop. I want to sync several folders of documents from the desktop to the laptop. However, when the files/folders are received on the laptop, they are created with the current date and time. It would much more usable to me if the files/folders created maintained the same date and time as are on the desktop. Is it possible to do this? I did not notice any obvious setting in preferences. Thank you! Kenneth
  14. Many users like me may encounter problem when installing the latest version of btsync app package that coming from spk source: . The main problem is the user cannot accept the EULA forever and cause the btsync malfunction. After investigation, I found out that the 1.4.x version of btsync in arm / linux platform may have an issue if running btsync with config file that include user and password information and cause the user cannot accept eula, even checked the box. Here is the work out on this issue, hope can help you all: 1. Uninstall the btsync to clean up all
  15. When adding an encrypted key (i.e. a read-only key with no decryption key) to an already existing folder (that was synced earlier with the same key), the folder is added with an entirely different, unrelated key than the one provided, and it indicates no peers active. I've gone ahead and confirmed that it actually does use the new key (by adding the new key on another device) and it starts syncing the encrypted files. How can I add an already existing encrypted folder and start syncing the files with other nodes using the initial key? Thanks. P.S. I tried adding debug logging,
  16. Hi All, I've installed BitTorrent Sync on my android device (tremendous project by the way) ! Now I would like to add a sync folder to the sync service without using the app GUI. I've tried copying ".SyncID" file (i assume it contains the secret, right ?) to the folder on the storage and added the folder path in the "/data/data/com.bittorrent.sync/shared_prefs/com.bittorrent.sync_preferences.xml" file but the folder is not detected as a sync folder when i launch the app. Is there a way for me to achieve this without using the API ? Opening to auxiliary questions : - Is the API desi
  17. Hi everybody, Excuse my English in advance it is not my mother tongue. I recently installed Bittorrent Sync on both my computer and my android phone to sync the entire SD card folder to the computer. Everything is working great but one thing! The screenshot folder won't sync. The folder itself is created on the computer but nothing seems to fill it. I was wondering if maybe the png files weren't recognized or something with the long names automatically given to the files was creating a problem? If someone had a clue what is happening it would really help me. Thanks a lot to anybody takin
  18. I ran into a huge issue when I accidentally renamed a folder on my Macbook and essentially broke the link I had to my Raspberry Pi cloud. I had to do some clean up work but I had to wait for everything to resync and then relink the folder via secret code on my Pi. Is there any way to fix this? Read only option? Rename the folder from the root directory? Thanks.
  19. I have this 80Gb folder I'de like to sync across two computers in the house. I have already copied this folder to it's destination (Not with BTSync). So both are already cloned. If I sync them with BTSync now, will it overwrite or do the job all over?
  20. A's computer's bittorrernt sync might have been off or paused. B's computer changed the name of the folder, not all files were done syncing. A's computer put files into .SyncArchive, probably any the files that didn't exist on B's. This is a bug. I want to be able to change a folder name even if the files in that folder are not synced on both computers. Bittorrent should be smart enough for this.
  21. I have a simple setup. I have two folders on an x86_64 machine that sync to an ARM machine. This has worked fine for about a week. Today I upped the ante. I added a new 40GB folder to sync between machines. I added the folder on the source machine, the x86_64. After it indexed, I added it as ro on the ARM machine and the sync began. I stepped away and returned an hour later to find BTSync had died on the ARM machine. I don't see any clear errors in the sync.log file on the ARM machine. I ran btsync from terminal on the ARM machine to try and get more info. [root@arm .sync]# btsyn
  22. I accidentally let btsync index a folder where I want to sync TO (because I'm trying to continue move from sftp to btsync and most of the content is already in target machine, so deleting the whole folder is not a nice move). I need to remove it but Web UI cross button shows only the warning but clicking OK mean nothing. The folder is still in UI, I still can't set up it as a target folder for syncing from elsewhere... Any ideas? How to remove folder manually - by deleting .syncID and correct DB files?
  23. having set up two-way sync between folders on two different servers, would there be any reason why the file count is different at each end? in other cases on the same servers, the sync details show the same file count at each end. two folders - apparently no different - show counts which do not match. am i missing something? also: what is the reason why the file count shown by btsync differs dramatically from the file count shown by windows?? windows: 11005 files, 40 folders 415Mb - btsync: 20118 files, 615Mb. - is this an error or are there heaps of hidden files somewhere? any information wel
  24. On my Ubuntu 12.04 server, if I unrar to my btsync folder, btsync doesn't start the sync. In fact, it seems that no matter how long I wait, it never starts (did a 15 min test just now). However, if I touch the file after it unrars, btsync notices it and immediately syncs it. If I unrar to a different folder and move or copy it to my btsync folder, it begins syncing immediately. I've yet to try unrar'ing one file to the btsync folder, watching it not sync and then later copy a second file to the btsync folder. I wonder if both files will then sync or just the 2nd one. Is this behavior expected?
