  1. An image worth 1000 words, so here is what I am talking about: I added my Nexus 6 Android phone to my Resilio, and created an "Camera backup": Then on my computer, it appears like that: With the name "DCIM". I tried to add another folder but it just keeps the folder name (Like "Downloads" or stuff like that). I like to keep my thing clean and I would love to simply have a "Nexus 6" folder that contains "DCIM", "Downloads", and other folders I would like to add. Or at worst, be able to rename the folder on my computer to "Nexus 6 Camera backup", but I cannot find the menu to "rename this folder locally": (and in "Preferences": Does anybody knows if it is possible? Also, quick note for to the devs: "Clear" == "Remove from device" was definitely not 'clear' in my mind I love Resilio, so keep up the work and I can't wait to be able to use it as I want!!
  2. The new one time share feature is great! It could be more useful, however, if the shared file was synced in the background to any linked devices for that identity, so that if the sharing device (say a laptop or a phone) go offline, the file can still be shared. It also allows faster downloading by the receiving peer since it can receive from multiple peers. This would be particularly great with an "encrypted peer" linked device type, but I've saved that for my other post today...
  3. I simply just want to, copy, paste or move a file / folder in Sync Mobile App. Either I'm missing a really easy one or none of these features are built into the mobile app?? I can't even simply move a file once it's uploaded on the mobile. Also having an issue that I can't even choose past 1 folder deep on our data base when uploading files via mobile. Anyone have this same issues? These are extremely basic operations. Pretty blown away I'm not seeing it anywhere. Would appreciate any help. I'm on a Google Pixel everything is up to date.
  4. I am one of those with t-mobile for my cell provider and so per This getsync.com article i am unable to connect to my peers. I have been trying to make use of a socks5 server provided by privateinternetaccess.com however, when I enter the proxy information and login info into the iOS sync app's proxy section it appears to have no effect. After i return to the main folder page in the app I still am not connected to my peers. When i return to the proxy information screen on the app in advanced the proxy option is turned off and the proxy information is blank. I'm at a complete loss. Has anyone figured out a way to get this to work properly? Is proxy via cellular data on the sync app (in iOS) just not an option? The primary sync PC is running on raspbian and i can connect just fine to it when i'm on the wifi lan and when i'm on other people's wifi (those who don't restrict access to sync). Any ideas?
  5. Hi, thanks for the great job. Android 6.00, Resilio mobile 2.4.9 (639) On my smartphone (LGK10), I generaly can't manage to see new files (any manner : photo, download, copy/paste, etc.) recognised and then synced. It obliges me to quit and restart. In fact, it seems that Resilio will always finish by recognising new files, but in an unpredictable laps of time which seems to go from instantly to, let's say, a quarter or half an hour. It seems to me it is a relatively new problem (new phone?, new sync version?), but I can't be sure. I tried a lot of combinations before posting. A tricky way to refresh drove me to some strange situation : I toggled the folder's Selective Sync from Off to On and back, because It forces te refresh just like I wanted, but this finished by freezing for a while some folder unable to become selective, even after deconnecting/reconnecting them in Resilio. This is not a really bad issue. But the trouble is that it's against Resilio's argumentation in Play Store "Sync will back up photos and videos as soon as you take them" and so it lowers the trust in the solution when you are expecting such a comportment. Letting things unclear is never good. I suppose this can be related to an internal Android messaging problem. In this case (as with Apple computers) a clear explanation, a simple refresh method and/or a way to set the auto-refresh delay will be appreciable for all. No answer, or a perfectly misplaced one like what is given to the Play Store user "Why do you need to stare at the file to sync it ???" is making the problem bigger again.
  6. I have a Music folder Synced from my MacBook to my Galaxy S4 device. The Sync works perfectly, but the Mobile App keeps showing a notification saying "Sync Running..." even if inside the app the folder is signed as Synced It seems impossible to remove the notification, which is also a problem and if I go to settings to disable notification, the app says the app service might not work anymore. So this notification is always displaying on my screen, there's no way to remove it and becomes quite annoying Thanks for the attention!
  7. As a mobile user, instead of making me go in and select each and every picture or movie or other object that I want to sync, I should be able to select an entire folder and have everything in that folder added to the list of things to be sync'ed.
  8. Is it possible to setup mobile backup folders to be encrypted? I would like to back up my pictures on my phone to two places. In one place I would like a read only folder and in the other places I would like an encrypted folder.
  9. I am backing up my Windows Phone pictures using Bittorrent Sync, and when it (finally) connects to my Mac it usually works fine. But I can never get the sync to fully finish as BT Sync on my Mac says it is trying to copy "809 files to" my Windows Phone. Which is strange, given that my Mac got a read-only link from the mobile device ... Something seems fishy here :-/
  10. Hello, when I sync files to my tablet or mobile phone, they do not automatically sync. For Example, if i add a song to my music library on my PC, then I must click on "sync" for transfering that file to my phone. Now the idea: There should be an option to pin a folder or file to the mobile, so that new files will be reconized automaticaly. Thanks, jacl
  11. When browsing folders if you move inside one, there's no way to go back to previous folder.
  12. When browsing files with long names, frequently they look the same when multiple files/folders exist with common beginning string, making difficult to select proper one. Not working on Android 4.1.2
  13. Hello. I recently updated the desktop and mobile versions of Sync and pretty much screwed up everything I had setup. So I started from scratch. As you can image, it was not very intuitive unfortunately, but never the less I got it work... somewhat. The issue I'm having which could be just a missing feature from last version, but when I added a new share from my desktop (documents folder for example) to my mobile device via QR code, it did not start the sync. I had to click on each file individually from within the Sync app just to initiate the sync process. Is there a way to make it automatically start sync'ing files without doing that? Because that would be much more practical! Thanks, Havoc
  14. I recently received a replacement phone (HTC One M8) and am now unable to successfully run Sync. Problem: The app will load and seems to run however when I bring up the screen, it will open for approximately 3 seconds and then the screen closes. The app is still running though. I can continue to go back into the app but it just continues to close the screen and all I can do is a force close to exit it. I've downgraded to 1.4 and the same issue occurs. I've reset the app and started fresh but to no avail. Does the same thing. Attempt to access settings and enable logging but can't as it just takes me back to main screen and then closes as mentioned... Need to get this resolved as I am only able to sync between PC's at this point. Old phone was running KitKat 4.4.3 and sync app v2. New phone is running Lollipop 5.0.1 and sync app v2. Thanks,
  15. Hi all, Realised a fairly significant issue this morning when I downloaded Office for Mac, and I have my downloads folder set to sync across machines. As I'm working remotely and using a mifi device, I just burned through 2gb for the download itself, and the presumably another 2gb (or more) to upload it via BT Sync. As I already have scripts that execute when I'm not on my home network, I'm wondering if there's a way to include some Applescript to pause BitTorrent Sync until I'm back at home. I can't see an Applescript dictionary in the app, so wondering if 1) there's any hidden functionality to pause that I might take advantage of or 2) if anyone has done something like this by scripting the UI (either the menubar icon or otherwise). Thanks, Tom
  16. Hi, I cannot seem to identify any way to change the 'Device Name' my Windows Phone in BTSYNC. I've given my sync devices friendly names, however the Windows Phone stands out with its RM-xxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx name. Is there any way to change this, and is there a feature coming soon to allow for this to be changed easily? Cheers!
  17. Before using BtSync for my main ios camera roll backup method. Just want to know what's the logic for dealing with duplicate image names? Because it can happen if I delete images a lot. I tried looking around, couldn't find any up-to-date information. Thanks!
  18. I supose someone must have asked for this before, but searching in the forum I can't find it out. Sorry if duplicated. I don't know how to sync a mobile folder with read & write permissions. Always I try to share a folder in my android device its shared as "backup", so the chages I do in other devices are not push to the android device. I want to be able to delete files from a shared folder of my android device. I've read that from Android 4.4 the apps don't have permissions to write outside his own folder, so perhaps this is not posible. Thnks
  19. Hello there, this is my first post here I have searched unsuccessfully the forums for the solution for one problem I have. I have an android phone and used Sync to backup my pictures, fotos, memos and other system folders. It all worked fine. The problem appeared as I had to hard reset my phone. As the mobile backup feature from Sync is a one way option, I can't get my old photos and other stuff synced back to my phone again. This behavior has lead to the status quo that I have my old photos/stuff on my PC in one folder and the new stuff from my phone is being synced in a new folder I had to generate to save the content in my PC. This is not helpful at all... Is there an option I can sync my old stuff back to my phone into the same system folders where they were at the beginning? Will be bidirectional mobile backup a future feature from sync? I think this is quite desireable since you have to hard reset your phone once in a while. Greets, Jano
  20. I'd love to view photos (.jpg) in landscape mode on the iPhone. They should rotate with the phone. And detect which direction is up in the photo. We use the iOS mobile app to share and view photos. I noticed pdf's already rotate with the phone. Thanks.
  21. I just set up some folders to sync to my PC... I love it! Two features that I though would automatically be possible is: 1) As an easy way to clean up the space on phone, to be able to deleted synced files on PC and propagate those deletions to the phones. 2) After realizing that option one is not possible because the added folders from phone seem to only have the "Read Only" option, I though if I at least delete files on phone it would propagate deletions to the PC. IO just found out about BitTorrentSync and trying a million things at once but is option 1 and/or two possible with some steps I possibly missed? If option two is also not possible what is the use of the "Archive" folder if deletions are not propagated anyway (or does it only record changes to same file)? Thanks!
  22. How to sync an existing folder on an android mobile with any other mobile device? Does it have to be a Backup?
  23. Hello, I'm syncing with Android a folder containing a lot of 1 level subfolders and files. Usually only few files at time change and this are within subfolder, so to get an indication of what's going on I've to open all subfolders and see if there are file changing! I propose to add a stamp or an indicator in the app GUI to indicate what subflders are being modified during the sync, something like dropbox individual folder sync indicator.
  24. Hello! This might seem to be a very narrow use-case at first, but please read on ;-) I have a work PC with static IP address and need to sync pictures quickly from my mobile. Via the occasional WiFi or mobile data connection, this is not working reliably. I presume the mobile app tries to contact tracker and/or relay servers? I'd love to be able to configure the synced folder on the mobile to connect to a pre-defined host, like I can in the desktop app. That way I'm happily syncing various other desktop PCs in- and outside of the work-LAN with my work-PC. Which kind of acts as the "spider in the web" ;-) Even connecting different peers which would not have found each other, because I deactivated tracker, relay, DHT etc. So, how about making the desktop app encode the IP address of its host in case that is found to be static. Port as well obviously, so the mobile app can more quickly, reliably and in a bandwidth-saving manner connect to the work PC? This idea could be expanded to encode the other advanced settings as well. So that for music for example that I only sync between home PC and laptop in my home-(W)LAN, the mobile app could also be pre-configured to sync it only there. What do you think? Thanks for this app eithe way and many greetings :-) PS: I should add that the "occasional WiFi" is still within my work place, but separate from the LAN somehow. Syncing from work-PC (LAN) to laptop (WLAN) works fine, even when I didn't yet have the latter's sync folders configured to use a pre-defined host.
  25. Hi, all- I just went through the initial setup of BTSync on my mobile device. My reason for using it is to store an emergency backup of some auto-save files that are generated by software I'm using to complete a project for a client. As the project progresses, these files will grow in size to equal probably 3-4 GB total, so they should fit nicely in my phone's available space as a backup. What I want to know is, is the sync bi-directional? So if I accidentally delete a file on my phone, will it then be deleted on my computer? And if this is the case by default, is there a way to change it so that the computer's folder is treated as the "master" copy of the files, and the phone simply updates to match it? Thanks for any light you can shed! -Mark
