  1. I have a single seat PRO license and just got a new desktop computer. I have a folder on my old machine synced to a remote backup machine. I plan to use an external harddrive to move the complete folder from my old desktop to my new machine. Is there a best practices way to make this transfer without re-syncing all the files to the remote machine?
  2. I simply just want to, copy, paste or move a file / folder in Sync Mobile App. Either I'm missing a really easy one or none of these features are built into the mobile app?? I can't even simply move a file once it's uploaded on the mobile. Also having an issue that I can't even choose past 1 folder deep on our data base when uploading files via mobile. Anyone have this same issues? These are extremely basic operations. Pretty blown away I'm not seeing it anywhere. Would appreciate any help. I'm on a Google Pixel everything is up to date.
  3. Hi, I just started out using resilio and i'm super happy with it so far. I sync 2 big folders from my nas to my workstation and my Laptop unfortunately the sync stops at 99% and won't finsh at any of my devices. It seems like most of the data is there and also the changes appear across the plattforms but it never is "finished". Bestides some small naming issues that resillio changed there are no conflicts. My HW is a Synology DS416, Windows 10 Workstation and an old Macbook Pro. Is there a way to make sure all data gets synced correct? thanks in advance! best, Bernd.
  4. Good morning, I am trying to install Resilio Sync Home on Mac OS X 10.10.5 and it does not allow me to install it since it indicates that it is damaged and can not be opened I downloaded it with different browser and from another computer passing it to this but the problem persists Attached screenshot to see that error. A greeting.
  5. When you have multiple sub-folders, it's sometimes a pain to see how much or if any of the sub-folders are synced. A great solution would be to show: a green tick next to a folder if all the folder's contents have been synced an orange tick next to a folder if only some of the folder's content has been synced nothing if nothing has been synced Another feature that would be useful for groups of people syncing from a central server would be the ability to enable or disable the "Remove from all devices" context menu items for for specified users. Since Resilio syncs bidirectionally, this is an all too easy way to wipe something off a server. Sure there's trashboxes where you can get it back, but it would be better to prevent such a situation all together.
  6. I have loaded sync onto a windows 7 Pro and I want to sync a map drive to my NAS server which already has the sync software install on, the issue I getting is when trying to setup the folders it showing me my drive i.e.. c: and D: but I not able to see or browser my map drive which point to my main server. Can sync do this or just only to local drives?
  7. Hi. I have been using BTsync for about a year. I switched to Resilio and it is hanging continuously. By the way I lost the app password after install and had to login with ssh and erase: settings.dat, settings.dat.old from: /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/ResilioSync/Storage/ So I could access the app. The resilio icon has disappeared from menu screen as well so I have to continuously open App Center to 'stop' the hung app and restart it. I runs for a while. Sometimes minutes, sometimes hours and then hangs again. I didn't realize I was not auto syncing for a few months as this NAS is there for backup primarily. Quite frustrated over here. Anybody have any ideas? BB
  8. Hi, I added three folders to sync and have a laptop, PC and my Synology NAS DS411+II. The laptop and PC seem to be fine with the syncing but my NAS box has been indexing for about a week and is continually thrashing my hard drives. I've done some research and tried setting folder rescan to 24 hours on the NAS as well as turning encryption off and folder notification too but it's not working. What can I do to get it set up properly? I'm using ver 2.4.4-1
  9. Is it possible to upgrade from the free individual sync to the sync for work-groups and maintain shared folders, settings, etc... an in place upgrade, or do I need to restart from scratch?
  10. When syncing files on Windows (possibly on other platforms as well) the file currently syncing is opened denying write access to other processes. This is ofcourse natural, but let me describe my use case and then explain my suggestion. I have set up BT Sync on several computers and devices both to achieve a constant back up, but more importantly distributing my project files so I can (almost) immediatly go to another work place and access my updated files there. BT Sync is the only tool that has a fast enough indexing function to achieve that, that I have found. I have hundreds of thousands of files covered by BT Sync but still, changing a random file will almost immediatly sync it to my other work places. This is awesome and very unique. My problem is that while BT Sync is working on a file, it is locked. So compiling my project will fail if BT Sync happens to be working on the .exe (or debug map files) of that specific project. As these files can be anywhere between 50 and 100 mb when compiling them with debug info (and I have some rather slow links on my network) this can be anoying, and I usually pause the sync (which will stop syncing the file, but annoyingly continuing to index and notify my of locked files). My suggestion is to look into the possibility (and ofcourse implement it if possible) of creating a local copy of the file to sync BEFORE it is synched, and then read from the created local copy. That will make the locked time much shorter and allowing the user to keep on working on his or her project without interference from BT Sync. The fact that it is not the absolutelly latest file beeing synced doesn't matter I think. BT Sync could abandon the sync if it detects a new version of the original file, or simply pick up the changes in the next indexing cycle.
  11. If I wanted to sync a desktop sitting at another location with its own internet connection, how does it know how to find my home server to backup on? I'm assuming it would store the last IP address used, but eventually my home internet IP will change. If my home IP address changes, how will the off site computer know how to connect again? Is it not 100% peer to peer? Does Resilio sync store this info and keep it updated? I have both computers locally now and its working great, but once I move one of the desktops offsite to its permanent location it will be connected via internet only from then on.
  12. As is mentioned on this thread... http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/30432-ios-photo-backup-question/?hl=iphone It would be great if the app would automatically sync. I have other apps that automatically do things in the background - the application "Downcast" is good at this.
  13. Update: Never mind, i figured it out. I just deleted the folder i was trying to select as the target and re-created it from the PI and it worked fine. Must have been some weird permissions thing with mapping an NFS share from a windows server to a Linux client or something sync didn't like about it OK, so I'm having issues getting sync to write into a mounted NFS share on Linux. first some background: there are 3 machines involved. 2 windows servers (one is 2016, the other 2008) 1 Raspberry PI The Server 2016 server is a host on my network and is my main file server and database server The Raspberry PI is a host on my network in the DMZ and is the one running sync The Server 2008 server is a VPS that has files i want to back up from semi-regularly and is also running sync my issue is that if i expose an NFS share on the Server 2016 box, then mount it on the Pi, i can write to said share with any user (even running sudo -u nobody touch /mnt/VPS-backup/test.text works absolutly fine), however sync reports that i don't have permissions to write to said folder when i try to add a manual connection. So I'm wondering, is this kind of thing not possible with sync (ignoring the obvious issue that if sync starts and the NFS share isn't mounted, it may just assume the folder is empty and sync the VPS server accordingly, which is fine because a script copy's the files to be backed up into a temporary folder which is synced) or am i missing something?
  14. Hello, If I set up the sync to en external HDD on one of the computers, and then disconnect it at some point, will the app detect it as though I "deleted" the files and erase them on the other end, or will it see that the device is missing and act as though it is "not connected"? Thanks in advance for the answers!
  15. I installed Resilo Sync on my new iPhone 7P. Well, actually it is an upgrade from BTSync. When launching the "Sync" app, it prompts me "No internet connection", even so when I open my IPSec VPN connection. BTW, I am in China. Is it because of the GFW issue?
  16. Hi all, When using Sync for android I don't know how to clean the cache for downloaded files. Let me explain: Imagine I download a video file for later watching (useful when you don't have internet connection), but after watching this video I don't want it to occupy my precious and limited android storage . The problem then is deleting the downloaded file means Sync to remove it from remote computer . The only workaround I found is to save sync app configuration, clear all the application data (from android app settings and the downloaded files with a file manager) then restore the configuration backup, but this is kind of uncomfortable for daily use. Does anyone know any better way to swipe the downloaded files cache without deleting any remote files? Thanks to everybody
  17. First off thank you in advance for assistance and love the product and if I can get this to work as I hope, I will be purchasing Pro for sure. (I'm on 30 day trial right now) Quick Facts - I have 2 NAS (Xeon CPU) unRAID servers and both are running Docker with Sync as a container. Both running Sync 2.4.4. - The idea here is server #1 is my "master" all read/write happens on this server and server #2 is strictly read only from server #1. - I have 6 folders created on server #1 shared as read only to server #2. The size of these folders range from 11GB to 13TB. - Because both servers were sort of mirrors of each other before (more manually) most files are on both servers with same folder structure. - I'm trying to introduce sync now so it will be automated. So after adding the 6 folders to server #1 all the folders indexed correctly (took about 30 hours) after that I added each folder one by one to server #2. Upon accepting the folder it asks are you sure because the destination folder already has files, I click yes and the "syncing" starts. Now because most items are identical, on the first pass it didn't do much transferring most of it was just rechecks and what not. Rinse and repeat for the next 4 folders. Now here is where my issue starts. My final folder is 13TBs and about 48,000 files. The indexing of this folder on server #1 went just fine. However when I share the folder as read only with server #2 and the indexing/recheck starts it goes for about 10 to 12 hours and then just stops. Usually around 7.5TBs or so but never finishes. I looked in the logs and didn't really see anything. I've removed the folder and re-connected it twice now and it's the same result. It's running again right now for the 3rd time and so far so good (about 2TBs in). So I don't have any logs to share just yet and I'll make sure I turn debug on during this process. I'm just curious if anyone has run into this and is there any setting or feature I'm missing? Hope to post more info tonight. Thanks, Daniel!
  18. Hello. I have been using Resilio sync as a backup and file transfer solution for my private files, im very happy with the service. So happy i upgraded to Pro. BUT i have very slow sync speed, on lan. My tansferspeed seems to be capped at 1,1 MB/S it always hovers between 1 and 1,1MB/S Resilio Sync is running from a computer with linux as os. my internet Upload speed is About 1,25 MB/s so its no surprise that files being synced over internet are capped at arond 1,1 MB/s but i can't figure out why my LAN transfers are capped at that too. I have followed the advice pages and cant get any increase in Lan transfer speed out of them. My HDD Has Read/Write speed of about 35 MB/s. My Lan speed is 1 Gbps. UPnP ports for all devices running Resilio sync are forewarded Any help resloving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
  19. On my PC, I have folder that contains all of my playlists and music I wish to sync to my android phone (Folder A). Essentially, I desire the mirror that folder onto my phone (Folder B). From time to time, I will add/subtract songs or update playlists from Folder A (both are automatically generated) and I wish that it such changes will be reflected onto Folder B. However, the results have been underwhelming when syncing Folder A to Folder B, with Folder A as its source. Under read only mode, Sync did not update files with newer timestamps (updated playlists or files with updated tags). Under read+write mode, files with newer timestamps from Folder A replaced older files in Folder B (good!). However, subdirectories in Folder B not found in Folder A remained and, when there was a conflict, the parent directory of older files in Folder B showed up in Folder A as "foo.Conflict" (bad). So, at the end of the day, how can Sync be set up in a way that Folder B mirrors all of the updates and changes (additions and deletions) from Folder A?
  20. As a mobile user, instead of making me go in and select each and every picture or movie or other object that I want to sync, I should be able to select an entire folder and have everything in that folder added to the list of things to be sync'ed.
  21. Since some months back I've encountered my QNAP NAS totally unresponsive once a week, needing a reboot to be usable again. With help from QNAP's support, I've narrowed the problem down to the Sync app in combination with the antivirus scan provided by QNAP: - I have the antivirus scan scheduled to run once every week. One of the folders in the scan job is synced by the Bittorrent Sync app on the NAS. - After some hour of antivirus scanning, before the antivirus reports a finished scanning, the NAS becomes impossible to reach on the network. It happens every time, and the NAS has to be rebooted. No logs show any direct clues to what happened. - If I disable the Sync app, though, the antivirus scanning jobs always finish without a fault! - If I re-enable the Sync app, the NAS hangs again at every scan job. I don't know if QNAP or Sync (or both) is to blame for this error, but it makes Sync much less useful and reliable. Worth noting is that this error started appearing some 6 or 12 months ago, so it was introduced in some software update from Sync or QNAP, probably during early 2016 or so. I have regularly updated the NAS and Sync several times the last year. It should be mentioned though that I still run one of the last versions of Bittorrent Sync before the rebranding to Resilio, so I haven't tried out the last version and due to various bad experiences I am not currently planning on installing it. This is more of a bug report than a cry for help.
  22. I am receiving tons of messages on the remote side of sync: "failed to download <file name> - initial recheck I am not sure what this means? I cannot find any information anywhere as to what this means?
  23. Hi What is current best practice for syncing existing folders? I note that Sync puts a 'system folder' in the folder being shared.....if I setup a Sync share (creating the Sync system folder), then copy across the content outside sync (USB connected directed to source) and copy the payload would Sync see the content as synced? I think it should....... Cheers, Geoff.
  24. Hi! I do not have alot of knowledge under Linux but here's my question. I have a raspberry PI 2 B, running raspbian. I installed BTSync from this how to: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2016/02/howto-install-bittorrent-sync-from-its-official-repository/ It works fine, newer version than the one I installed before (with advanced options now yeah!). My issue is that I can only control the web gui locally, I can't get on the IP address:8888/gui to do a remote control. How to? thanks
  25. Hi, I created a "synced foler" on my PC. A ".sync\IgnoreList" file was automatically created. I edited it and wrote the file. I restarted Sync. Then I shared this folder on my phone. On my phone a ".sync\IgnoreList" file was automatically created. But: 1) this file is not the copy of the one on the PC, instead it's the default IgnoreList file 2) I can't edit the phone's IgnoreList because * when I open it with ES File manager / Text editor, when saving, I have "cannot write" (maybe it's a permission problem? this happens even if Sync is not running) * when I connect phone to PC with USB (MTP mode, as this is the new USB mode since Android 4), I cannot see ".sync\IgnoreList" : it's a hidden file. Thus it is not shown on Windows. Question : how to edit ".sync\IgnoreList" on phone?
