  1. Hello to everybody! I use Sync to exchange files with my customers. This is great and so far nobody has had a problem installing it. Unfortunately, two of my recent customers who would like to set up Sync on their computers, run Windows XP and MacOS X 10.7.5. Could you point me to the latest usable versions for Windows XP and MacOS X 10.7.5? I use Sync 2.2., do my folders need to be "standard" - 1.4 folders, if they need to install Sync 1.4? Thanks!
  2. I made mistake in User Name when installing 2.0 update. How can i can change it ?
  3. I've just installed the x86_64 Sync 2.0.81 package on my QNAP TS-269L and, while it installs without error, it doesn't seem to run at all. When I click on the link to access the web interface, on port 14859, I can't connect. In addition, my PC's sync 2.0 client shows the NAS peer as offline. Is this package broken? Am I missing something? Thanks for any ideas!
  4. I have just one folder shared across a laptop and two desktop machines. Two machines are running Windows 7 and I am therefore running BT Sync 2.1; but the third machine needs to keep running Windows XP for the time being (long story!) and so I have BT Sync 1.3 on that. All was running fine, the two Win 7 machines upgraded to 2.0 when it came out and all continued without incident. Yesterday I had to reformat and fully reinstall on one of the Win 7 machines. I 'fiddled' with BT Sync without fully understanding what I was doing but eventually managed to get the two Win 7 machines talking to each other and syncing fine. However, I now seem to have broken the link between both of those and the third Win XP machine. Ver 2.1 on the Win 7 machines seems to have a 'key' which is different from the 'secret' in the Ver 1.3 install on Win XP... and when I try to copy the secret / key between the two machines, each says the code from the other is invalid. Any help welcomed here, please
  5. Hello, so far I was using 1.4 sync api without issues. Today I've switched to 2.0 version of BTSync and now I cannot add folders via. API method (Both clients vere 2.0/Linux server and win8.1 PC/), can somebody help me what am I missing ?
  6. Hello, I am new to the forum. I have been running BTSync for around 4 months on my FreeNas box. Yesterday I noticed there was an update available for the Plugin. I went ahead and updated and afterwards i logged into the webgui. I was prompted with the same welcome wizard you get when installing BTSync on a client machine. At the end of the wizard it asks you if you want to create new 2.0 links or you already have one. I chose I already had one but after selecting that option i relies i didn't see the option i wanted. i hit the back or close button and my screen turned to a gray background with a thin line in the shape of a box. I can't seem to get out of this. I have rebooted my NAS box and reset the plugin service. I have tried getting the to webgui page though different browsers and even different pc's. still no change. My links still work but I am unable to add new or do any administration over them. I would rather not have to uninstall/re-install and recreate my links. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated! FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201504152200 btsync-2.0.105-amd64
  7. I've removed my 1.4 shares, to upgrade to 2.0 shares (of course i've made a backup from the settings and the database). First i've set the new share to be preapproved when new client connects, but even if i approved the connection, the client wrote "waiting for approval". So approvals do not work, it's OK, i don't need it. So i've disabled the approve requirement, and tried again... but the client still writes "waiting for approval" while it isn't needed. Then i said ok, i've just restore to 1.4 database, so restored everything that is related to btsync, but that isn't worked, as the client pc (slow arm pc) started to reindex everything, and ignore the old database. On the windows PC i've also restored everything, but it writes "cannot identify the destination folder", which means that btsync stores some data in somewhere else, not on my computer! So i'm gonna stop using btsync, not just because they released the heavily bugged 2.0 without proper testing, but because btsync 2.0 is communicating and storing data on an external server, which means it's not secure anymore.
  8. Hi I've just updated btsync from 1.4 to 2.0 my windows pc, and my headless ARM linux computer. The syncing works, but i can't access the web interface of the ARM computer's btsync. from my windows PC, as it rejects the connection. I've logged in to linux computer with SSH and listed the listening services with netstat, and i see that now btsync is listening only on localhost. Of course the settings file is not human readable so i can't change it, and as the linux computer does not have browser (nor GUI), now i've can i access the settings, or how can i make btsync to listen not just on localhost?
  9. Trying to determine if Sync is supposed to sync even if no user is logged in. We're looking for a product that can run as a Windows Service and sync even if/when no users are interactively logged in. Will Sync 2.0 do this? Including empty trees of folders (say an inbox or outbox waiting for another process to drop a file in)?
  10. I've used Sync 1.x successfully for a simple sync task. Following the 2.0 upgrade I'm unable to perform the same task. The simple task is to sync the public pictures and documents folders on two Windows 8 laptops used interchangeably by my wife and I. We travel independently a lot. We appreciate having the latest versions of shared pictures/docs available locally on whichever laptop we're using. In layman's terms (I admit that's what I am with IT matters), with Sync 1.x the public folders on the two separate laptops were directly linked. Whatever changes were made to files in the folder of one were mirrored in the equivalent folder of the other. With Sync 2.0, the architecture seems to have changed, so that changes to files in a sync'd folder in one laptop are mirrored on the other in a new folder: Users>[userrname]>Bittorrent Sync. I'm unable to link the equivalent folders (i.e., the public pictures/documents folders) of the two laptops directly. The entire contents of the sync'd folder of the first laptop are downloaded to the new Bittorrent Sync folder on the second laptop, duplicating most of the content already in the equivalent public folder of the second laptop. So while I can access and amend the public folders of the first laptop via the second, it's through the new 'Bittorrent Sync' folder created on the second laptop, not the equivalent public folders on the second laptop. How can I manage folders in the 'old' way through Sync 2.0? (Incidentally, I've tried uninstalling 2.0 and reinstalling 1.4, but 1.4 will no longer run on either laptop, despite the fresh install.) Help and advice will be most gratefully received.
  11. We have BitTorrent Sync 1.4 installed on a server and sync files using the iPad app. Recently the iPads updated themselves to version 2.0 and appear to have lost all configuration. Is it possible for iPads running version 2.0 to sync with a server running version 1.4?
  12. I just lost a lot of my data. I'm lucky not all my peers were online. I recovering the data now. I installed Bit Sync 2.0 on 4 devices. Two desktops, a home server, and finally a Surface. Everything seemed to be fine until I installed it on the Surface. The Surface likes to sleep often, and that hasn't ever bothered me before. I setup Bit Sync by adding it to my devices. It started syncing. Then the Surface went to sleep. When I woke it up, Bit Sync seemed a little notification happy, and was pinging me a lot saying my folders were sync, even though there are only 4. During this though, Bit Sync froze, "Not Responding". It was fine, I ended the task, did some Windows updates, and restarted. On restart Bit Sync asked if this was my first device. Odd.. I did that already. I said no, went through the process of adding it again. This time I kept the computer a wake a bit to make sure it was syncing alright, and wouldn't lock up if the computer went to sleep. While it started syncing again I checked my server. Pretty much every file was gone. I checked the history, and my Surface supposedly removed all the files. I am guessing because of the failed first setup, when it was setup again the second time, it saw the empty folders and proceeded to wipe all my files. Also I should note my device list has the Surface listed twice, which concerns me. I'm afraid it might get confused again, and wipe any files I add again. I've only been using it 4 days, and this is pretty frustrating first experience. It makes me realize I can't trust Bit Sync to wipe my files, and if it does, there's no way to recover them unless one of my devices is offline.
  13. Hi all, I've noticed that Sync won't play video in fullscreen on iOS. Whenever I start a video it plays in 'portrait mode' and will not adjust to fullscreen when the phone is rotated. This wasn't an issue in the previous version of the iOS app. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not sure how to log a problem in the iOS app, but if there's any info missing from the above let me know.
