  1. I have a fresh install of Sync. On startup, Sync main window pops-up. It should stay minimized. Sync version and system OS details attached.
  2. I use plenty of apps that start in the background, whose windows I can access via the taskbar and they do not add a window to the desktop on startup. Examples: Backup and Sync from Google, Radeon Settings, Wincompose, Discord... They all have windows I can make appear via their taskbar menus, and yet, they do not do so unprompted on each startup. This issue appeared before. Although it was marked solved, after windows updated, the problem reappeared. 3. I have one machine in a group of 7 peers. It is randomly getting false status messages that it has been "disconnected by owner". I can't find any history of this happening to others. Furthermore, we're not using the paid features of BT Sync 2.0, so we don't actually have the capability to disconnect this machine except from the machine itself. I can't find anything in the log file that seems to indicate the disconnection that's going on. Can anyone offer some insight into what's happening? Thanks, -Kody
  4. We have been using Sync for 3 years now and still, once every couple of months need to audit the system to make sure that files have not been randomly deleted. I frequently have designers and producers come to my office and ask if files were moved. Entire folders and the content are being deleted and we can not figure out what is causing it. We can sometimes narrow it down to the machine that caused it, but not why they are deleted. Generally, If caught early enough, I can recover the files from the Archive folder, but it requires hours of cross-referencing to make sure we have everything that was supposed to be there and the files that were supposed to be deleted are still deleted. In worst case scenarios, we have had to pull from our cloud storage on Drive to get it back. Ultimately there have been three variables we have found, but have no idea if it is the real cause. And if it is, how to fix it. 1. Software versions are not all the same across the network: While we do our best to keep them all up to date, there are times where they may not be matched across every machine. This should not cause an issue with syncing, but generally when we are troubleshooting this issue, this is a common thing we find. 2. Machine has been offline for several days: When a machine is offline for more than a few days, it seems to cause confusion when it comes back online. Files that had not been synced seem to delete from other peers rather than downloading to the machine that needs updating. 3. External Drive Disconnection causes File Deletion: If a machine uses an external drive and that external drive is not fully synced it will cause the unsynced files to delete from peers if the drive is removed. This is typical with employees who use mobile workstations that they take with them at the end of the day. BONUS ISSUE - Sync installed as Service doesn't always launch: We use machines that have users manages on a domain, every user needs access to the same media so we have set it up in a way that a Sync is running as a service in order to stay up to date no matter what user is logged in or if any user is logged in. This service does not always launch there is no visual indication of it running without loading the GUI or checking the system activity monitor. Because it can do this for days sometimes, it creates issue #2 from above. What I need in order to continue using this service is to learn how to keep this system more stable and reliable without needing to babysit the processes and all of the machines every day. What are the steps I should take in order to achieve this? Thanks!
  5. Hi folks, I am a user of SYNC PRO, and I bought essentially because of the Placeholder function. But, before I get it to work, I made a case study of the possible behaviours of the program, and found three critical consequences, and two worrisomes actions. The criticals (in RED) in my opinion condemns its use because the original file is lost, if the unsuspecting user make the refered actions in the local computer! The worrisomes actions in orange only erase a file copy, but is undesirable too. This infos is summarized in the table. PH is the abbreviation of Placeholder. I suggest if possible, that the developers team make the following changes: - If a file placeholder is renamed in client, Rename the original file in host instead of erase the file and make a placeholder. - If a file placeholder is moved in client, move the original file in host, instead of erase the original file and create a placeholder in the destiny place of file. - If a file is renamed, rename the file in host instead of erase the host file copy and make a host file placeholder. See the table for more informations. Thank You!
  6. For a really long time the Resilio icon in the macOS menubar has been set in front of a non-transparent background that makes it stand out in comparison to all other icons. It is really distracting and unaesthetic. I would love to see a fix. The problem appears in both the white and black menu bars, even with the macOS accessibility feature 'reduce transparency' activated.
  7. I am developer and I am using git for some chess module - as many others. I want sync my repositories between machines - as many others. What happen: I setup Sync on git repository path like "git-repos/git-xxx" on computer Alice. I setup Sync on other computer Bob and copy read-write code from Alice. Files was synced from Alice->Bob I do some development ... and push to Bob git repository branch e-xxx. Some files was synced but some not synced so on Alice there is not branch e-xxx. I do some compare to learn what happen. It is happen that Alice and Bob same directory is not same - NOT SYNCED!!! What to do with it Restarts tested. For debug purpose: I do 7-zip on Bob "git-repos/git-xxx" and some "git-xxx.7zip" was synced. I do compare with WinMerge and what I see: Compare c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree with C:\root\git-repositories\chess-tree 2016-06-26 14:40:20 Filename,Folder,Comparison result,Left Date,Right Date,Extension,Differences 1e,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 33,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 3d,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 49,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 4d,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 56,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 7a,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 7c,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, a0,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, bc,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, d5,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, e6,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, f8,objects,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 0856f8ec42e6addb7c1abfc5ed5a9fa87c8984,objects\1e,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\1e,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 684fc3f41a77bfd9fe41ec1bfb132cfcd1143a,objects\33,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\33,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, dcae48e8b7b152be3ea47a2439206bf02da156,objects\3d,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\3d,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 369c0f2c4587e8e6197c9f68377cc3618cb897,objects\49,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\49,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 016347ac501faef72683771e2cb0527547644a,objects\4d,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\4d,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 525040cdc0b0519614891b9d175e45a01df014,objects\56,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\56,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 1721d8ff09566f8be08f1fd7c399cf273b7961,objects\7a,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\7a,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, a22db453a83f4d24c1999f5cc8237742cc47a8,objects\7c,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\7c,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, fdfd76d295eaf71b9106fb1907d58f4f3d394c,objects\a0,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\a0,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, d5b47ecaa672f1920a6b9d9c3c7533abd9d53c,objects\bc,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\bc,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 468e730c43887fdda56050b57c39b140c19d7e,objects\d5,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\d5,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, 9de29bb2d1d6434b8b29ae775ad8c2e48c5391,objects\e6,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\e6,* 2016-06-26 11:25:29,,, 02dee54e3d98a13baf9fdea956b93a551e6071,objects\f8,Left only: c:\xxx\Desktop\chess-tree\objects\f8,* 2016-06-26 12:59:59,,, Why it is not synced not idea and how force indexing, syncing?
  8. I just performed a sync using BitTorrent Sync v1.4.110. I am 100% certain BitTorrent Sync overwrote newer files with older files. I don't have any idea why it would do this, except for a serious bug. The file dates and file contents clearly show that new files were overwitten by old versions. I had performed a backup of some of the data before enabling the sync, and the backup confirms the problem. A little more detail: I had previously used BitTorrent Sync on these folders using 1.4.9x. Only 2 computers are using BTSync and they run the Windows 64-bit version. They are on the same wireless network. Relay and tracker servers are turned off for each sync folder. I hadn't run BTSync in over a month. I upgraded BTSync to v1.4.110 on both computers. As part of the BTSync upgrade on System #1 (which had many new files), I selected the option to run BTSync after the program version upgrade. Once it was upgraded and loaded, I ran BTSync on System #2 (which I had already upgraded to the latest version). It than began to sync. Everything looked fine and appeared to run smoothly. But when I checked the files, in many cases, old versions overwote the new versions. I now have to sift through thousands of files to determine the damage BTSync caused and try to rectify as much of the damage as possible. UPDATE: I just had a full-time computer programmer verify all the above facts, and he concluded there is a serious problem with BitTorrent Sync, and that it definitely overwrote NEWER files with OLDER ones in multiple cases. This seems to be a huge problem.
  9. I found a bug in BTSync that is causing Window File explorer to hang for 30+ seconds when right clicking on files on a network share. It appears to be the "Share with BitTorrent Sync" contect menu When I disable the BTSync's context menu using ShellExView http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html My right click works just fine and does not hang file explorer. I have been having this issue for almost a year now on multiple computers running windows 7. Today I tracked it down to BTSync by trial and error. I just updated to the latest and greatest BTsync 2.2.7(160) with the same result. File Explorer only hangs when browsing to a network location \\server\shaired folder. Local drives, memory sticks and mapped network drives, are not affected.
  10. I've installed resilio sync on a couple new devices and I'm seeing inconsistent and incorrect behavior. Each of the last four machines I set to Disconnect state when initializing them, but as soon as I committed the setting, resilio sync started downloading all shares, and not selective. This causes a massive disruption, as the system then slows down so much that it takes forever for me to change each of the 40 shares back to disconnected and delete all the accidental share additions. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Any ideas on how to fix this?
  11. Windows 10 Pro x64. System has 2 disks: Disk1: "C:" - Small SSD with system, and user accounts and documents (some folders syncing with resilio). Disk2: "D:" - Larger disk with a large synced folder. Say "D:\Data" "Default folder location:" was located at "C:\Users\<username>\SyncFolder" but was empty and NOT USED to sync anything. System was running unattended, for several days. When I checked today the system was choking for lack of disk space. It turned out that Resilio Sync had substituted for "D:\Data" a folder "C:\Users\<username>\SyncFolder\Data" As a result, disk C: was completely full and several important processes had crashed or hanged for lack of disk space. Apart from "D:\Data", two other subfolders of "C:\Users\<username>" were syncing, they were substituted for subfolders of "C:\Users\<username>\SyncFolder". When I say "substituted", I mean that the original folders had been left intact but new subfolders of "C:\Users\<username>\SyncFolder" were created with the same base name and were now syncing, in lieu of the original ones. PS: This system had been automatically upgraded to Windows 10 Pro "version 1709". I had decided to roll it back to "version 1703", and postpone feature upgrades for a year.
  12. Hello, first of all to thank you for very nice software which really just sits and feels very solid and reliable.. but there are couple of difficulties that doesn't let my heart let it in yet. I have setup the Resilio Sync system like this: I have 2 PCs and one Android phone connected to Raspberry Pi 2, and all of them having Resilio software. PCs get to sync everything and all deleted and changed files gets archived and then replaced by the new version. The problem now is that the same doesn't happen for Android. Android syncs all the files to the Resilio on Raspberry and one of the PCs, but all deleted files doesn't get archived, but they stay just where they were first time when they were synced.. not moved to .sync folder or deleted. I sent some screenshots so you might have better idea of how I set it up.. all the synced folders are set up identically, but only Android folder syncs are having this problem. Thanks for reading
  13. I installed resillio in linux (running feren OS 2017.) following the intructions given in help page https://www.linuxbabe.com/ubuntu/install-resilio-sync-ubuntu-16-04-16-10 It was successful and much more simplified. I almost synced 98% of all my files. My laptop ran out of battery and I had to restart my session. But when I tried to log back in to the webUI,my password and username was not accepted. I am 1000% sure my password was correct and I even verified it as my browser saved it. I tried many other combinations like default password (googled it for resilio),none worked. So I removed it and purged all the config files, deleted all the .sync files...logged out and logged back in....restarted laptop...but every time I install it,even without giving password (for the new installation),it asks again and I cant access webUI. I tried to edit config file but nothing worked...I deleted the settings.old thing as I found in the help page here....none worked....it is repeatedly asking for username and password which first of all I correctly giving and even in new installation after completely removing it,still asking again and again....what can I do? It took 6 hours for me to get to this...I am very new to linux...sorry for my bad english... Pls note that the very first intallation was successful and everything kept running well....I am using resilio in android and windows for a very long time....just hopped into linux and finding it buggy...
  14. With selective sync enabled, if I double click a placeholder file in Finder it will begin downloading it from a peer. If I double click the placeholder file again before it has completed downloading (let's say I'm impatient...), the file disappears altogether from Finder. Once the download completes, the original file is correctly shown again. This is problematic because (AFAICT) I lose the ability to cancel the sync of the file.
  15. Just a heads up for any one using the aur package on arch linux. It seems like the resilio sync from aur has the wrong pid_file option in the default config in /etc/. This line "pid_file" : "/var/run/btsync/btsync.pid" should be "pid_file" : "/var/run/rslsync/rslsync.pid". 16. I've been using bittorrent sync for a few months now and it is a lifesaver, but I recently discovered that when OS X aliases (similar to Windows shortcuts) are sync'd they are no longer recognized as aliases and do not work properly. For example, I have a folder sync'd between 2 Macs (both running OS X 10.8.4). When I create an alias to a .pptx file on Mac A, Mac B sees it as just a .pptx file (not an alias to a .pptx file) when it receives the sync. Therefore, when I try to open it, Powerpoint is launched and gives me an error that the file is bad, instead of the original file (that the alias should point to) being opened. This happens with all aliases I have, not just to .pptx files. I believe this is a bug in which some piece of information is stripped from the alias file when it is sync'd. BTW I'm using version 1.0.134 of bittorrent sync.
  17. Hello, I have been having problems with disappearing/deleted files in folders. Folders that previously contained multiple text files and images, suddenly contain no files at all. I now have many empty folders. I use my Time Machine backup to find the files again and restore them, or I find the files in the archive folder. This is not always possible and leads to complete loss of data and is very frustrating. I also find several files that are 0 KB. This seems to happen especially to .pages files and not to .doc files. There again I need to use my Time Machine backup or archive folder to restore the files when possible. I have been a happy BtSync customer for several years but now these critical bugs in the last months are very alarming with our work data. Please help!

  19. I have been using BTS sync and I used the sync pro trial. After the trial ended, I discovered a lot of my photo files are now placeholder files. When I double click on them, it says that they are in queue, but this behavior has been going on for months, and through several updates of the program. It seems like either BTS has erased my files or they are being held hostage until I pay for the business version. If it is a one way conversion to try the paid version, I wish you had said that up front and I would have been happy to continue to use the free version. I am trying to think happy thoughts but I think either the files are erased or the sync pro trial was a one way trip.
  20. Hi, I made one small tweak to my config yesterday and since then, BTSync (latest official Linux version) no longer starts. Systemd kills it immediately, then retries infinitely, failing constantly. The change I made was the download directory for all the folders, from /path/a/b to /path/b. All paths exist and are accessible. The .sync folders are still present (though I did try deleting them all to see if that was causing an issue). Nothing else has changed. I've removed and purged btsync with apt-get, tried a basic config as well as my normal one. I've even tried the standard example from the installation. Nothing works, and what's weirder is nothing has (to my knowledge) changed on the system (a Pi). I've tried everything and am lost - some logs below, which hopefully someone can diagnose better than me. I think a dependency might be broken though... Thanks for any help! 21. I had a windows desktop and 2 android pads been synced for 1 folder with BTsync. I add some folder (with files) on desktop BTsync folder, and these will auto be synced with other 2 android pads, which is worked very good. eg: BTsyncRootFolder\sampleSyncFolder BTsyncRootFolder\sampleSyncFolder\file1 BTsyncRootFolder\sampleSyncFolder\file2 BTsyncRootFolder\sampleSyncFolder\file3 but problem is when I delete the folder (and the files in it), an empty folder keep coming back, eg: BTsyncRootFolder\sampleSyncFolder the only way I can get rid of this is I have to manually delete these empty folders from each devices. which is I believe BTsync wasn't designed working in this way. Searched the community, seems I am the only one met this problem? If anyone can help me with this? Thank you.
  22. Previously I was asked me to wait for until an update to the web UI about a bug I was having with cookies. With 1.3.105 the problem is still there. I've boiled the problem down to the smallest test case I can. Basicly if there is a cookie with a name that ends with "GUID" the HTTP request for the web UI errors with "invalid request" for me. Doesn't matter what the cookie value is. Test script: Sample output: Repeat of this post.
  23. I use youtube-dl to download video from YouTube and sync the videos between my Synology and Android phone. The problem is, there are a lot of ????????.part files shown in the Android BT Sync client folder. I assume those .part files are temp file created by youtube-dl. Synology: 2.0.93-1 Android: 2.2.2 (376)
  24. I am just testing out BTSync 2.2.1 and have come across something very strange. On one computer I have 2.2.1 and running the PRO 30-day trial on another I am just running normal Sync 2.2.1 If I share a folder between the 2 computers using just a standard read&write folder everything works fine and is synched. When I want to remove the syncing I right-click in Sync Pro and it says disconnect at the bottom (whereas it says remove in the non-pro version). Once I hit disconnect, all the contents of the folder are deleted. When I hit remove in the non-pro version all the folder contents stay there as I would expect. If I share a folder from non-pro to pro as a read&write standard folder, then remove on non-pro and then disconnect on the pro side, the contents dont get deleted. Why would it delete all the files and folders? Why doesn't it do that in the non-pro version? This surely cant be a feature, but must be a bug. Any solution to this? Alternatively how can I downgrade back to non-pro without waiting for 30 days? Thanks, Armin.
  25. I recently upgraded from 2.0.?? to 2.1.4 (79). Formerly, I was able to look at the sync history and identify which machines had finished syncing, or had added/removed files. It was very convenient. Now, all it tells me for each machine is "Remote peer". This is totally useless now. I have 10 computers syncing, how can I tell which ones have synced or not now? History now tells me 8 times, "Finished syncing with Remote peer". Which ones have not? Why was this change made? How can I get peer names back?
