  1. Getting resilio-sync.service constant exited "255/EXCEPTION" and restart in syslog on linux raspberry pi. Please see this video of the syslog running on linux Resilio sync is working fine (syncs data to/from my raspberry pi to my windows using a secret key), but when looking at the syslog on my pi, it shows a huge running list of exceptions, with the service being exited then stopped/started again. Hoping someone can shed some light on why this might be happening.
  2. I setup my folder to be added to sync ("/opt/guestBook/guestsRecordings"), and after executing the sync.conf config file, noticed the .sync folder added to the folder. However, when I used the read/write secret key that I generated for the config file, there were no files available to sync to my PC (even though the source linux system had files to sync). Hoping to use this .conf file to allow folder syncing by generating a new secret key each time, as opposed to configuring this each time using the webUI. Is there something I may be missing in order to get that folder/subfolders contents to show up during sync when just using the sync.conf file from what you can see in my file? For reference, I installed Sync on linux and made sure to set all applicable folder permissions and enabled automatic startup + sync of current user folders. sync.conf
  3. Whenever I connect to the local resilio interface (web browser of course) this certificate error is shown. Well, the error is correct: there *is* no certificate. Does anyone know if there is an elegant way to not see, or to fix, this error? Searching "certificate AND localhost" on the resilio website returns a single irrelevant page
  4. I'm running Resilio on a new Raspbian install. It works when I start it, but after a reboot it runs but doesn't seem to do anything. When the system starts up, ps shows that Resilio is running with the following command: /usr/bin/rslsync --config /etc/resilio-sync/config.json However syncing doesn't work and the web GUI doesn't respond (and nc shows connections refused for web GUI). It sure looks like it should be running but nothing happens: $ sudo systemctl status resilio-sync ● resilio-sync.service - Resilio Sync service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/resilio-sync.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: active (running) since Sat 2021-05-22 00:36:31 BST; 1min 13s ago Docs: Process: 379 ExecStartPre=/bin/mkdir -p ${SYNC_RUN_DIR} ${SYNC_LIB_DIR} (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 384 ExecStartPre=/bin/chown -R ${SYNC_USER}:${SYNC_GROUP} ${SYNC_RUN_DIR} ${SYNC_LIB_DIR} (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 389 ExecStart=/usr/bin/rslsync --config ${SYNC_CONF_DIR}/config.json (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Process: 403 ExecStartPost=/bin/sleep 1 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 402 (rslsync) Tasks: 17 (limit: 725) CGroup: /system.slice/resilio-sync.service └─402 /usr/bin/rslsync --config /etc/resilio-sync/config.json May 22 00:36:28 zeroone systemd[1]: Starting Resilio Sync service... May 22 00:36:31 zeroone systemd[1]: Started Resilio Sync service. If I restart Resilio with sudo systemctl restart resilio-sync ...then everything's fine. What's going on at startup, and how can I get it to start normally? Thanks.
  5. Hi all -- It looks like the apt/deb repo is not getting updated with 2.7? I'm using deb resilio-sync non-free ~# apt search resilio-sync Sorting... Done Full Text Search... Done resilio-sync/stable,now 2.6.3-1 amd64 [installed] Resilio Sync is a proprietary peer-to-peer file synchronisation tool. If that's not longer support, thats fine i can switch to manually downloading the deb file, but obviously package manager support is a nicer experience...
  6. Resilio Sync "pro" (pro 5 user license) I've got a sync source on my FreeNAS Resilio Sync "master" (using the plugin jail)... Every single time I setup a new "destination" to sync from my master source - I get this (see screenshot). It's not a show stopper - but it's annoying, I can "ignore" sure - but I'd like to get rid of it permanently. I cannot find that file in the Resilio Sync "jail" running on my FreeNAS server... When I originally would have copied that file there - it was a mistake - it's a 20+ GB OVA of a Windows 7 VM (VirtualBox), and I would have realised this, at the time, and removed it, and this would have been in 2018.. But something thinks it's still there. How do I tell it that file's no longer there and to stop Resilio Sync blabbering on about it? Any ideas?
  7. I was delighted to see that Resilio finally got an update ... and then worried when I read this: Is this true, can I no longer use Linux on a personal license? The changelog only mentions Windows Server, but the support article above looks like Linux is included as well ... i.e. every computer I own except my work computer. I use Resilio to sync my media library from my HTPC to my laptop and my backup system. All of these run Ubuntu on regular computers (i.e. non-Arm based). Should I be looking for some new software? I'd really love to keep using Resilio — I've been using it since it was Bittorrent Sync in beta. I did pay for a personal license. But there's no way syncing my media library is worth $30 monthly for a business license.
  8. I've noticed that Resilio now only runs on my Linux box while I'm actually SSH'd in. This seems to be a new development, and I'm not sure how it would have happened. Is this a setting that can be tweaked or is there something more funky going on?
  9. Hello there, I started using Resilio for my personal files. In order to make my files better availbale by distributing the load and making the system more fail safe, I wanted to set up "a few" (maybe just 2 or 3) raspberry pis each with a HDD at friends and family. And since I would place very personal files at peoples homes over which I don't have much control, I wondered if there is a way of installing a linux distro (or freebsd) that would encrypt files on write (even non-encrypted resilio folders). Because of course my sensitive files are in encrypted resilio folders, but other folders still contain files that COULD be sensitive in some context. And if my mom would carelessly through away a hdd, I would be ensured that nothing leaks. So my question is: Does someone have experience setting up resilio with a encrypt-on-write linux distro so that one can "deploy and forget" resilio instances?
  10. Linux currently has a crippled, Dropbox-like Selective Sync implementation that doesn't let me search for yet-to-be-synced files, unlike the Mac OS and Windows versions, which use placeholder files. It would be great if the Linux version handled selective with placeholders exactly in the same way as on other systems.
  11. I'm using btsync (1.0.134) on 3 linux machines (32 and 64 bit Ubuntu and 32 bit Debian wheezy) and am experiencing sync issues with long file names. In order to provide enough security to store my data on untrusted hosts, I use encfs ( to encrypt my files. Unfortunately, encfs creates very long file names, for example /home/ifoo/.encrypted/Documents/0ZmxrOATx4YgPC5jBr4gRkKU/-VljqWC1rAVUjB9GnB,iaBRY/3NeHN3GTSu5BSe9k9kKE1,T-/hYMaULYtXDVXkWcjRU1Y954D/x,u0qWitYS9Xl1E-mjxjzKMpi,XdoikblNSE0kJVDMKEkDvShNXVvgWmJTBUl6IzSzq1JmAPbBmcHc6Tx39Ao9dYvaatj890Q-HFooH,u,aE-wX-UZmWQlJKPdBZyRJJjvwlNErjSjPoE-Ppj9RQsLOz is a single file name. It looks like btsync can not handle such long file names. Here is an entry from the log file: [20130426 15:43:08] Error opening "/home/ifoo/.encrypted/Documents/0ZmxrOATx4YgPC5jBr4gRkKU/-VljqWC1rAVUjB9GnB,iaBRY/3NeHN3GTSu5BSe9k9kKE1,T-/hYMaULYtXDVXkWcjRU1Y954D/x,u0qWitYS9Xl1E-mjxjzKMpi,XdoikblNSE0kJVDMKEkDvShNXVvgWmJTBUl6IzSzq1JmAPbBmcHc6Tx39Ao9dYvaatj890Q-HFooH,u,aE-wX-UZmWQlJKPdBZyRJJjvwlNErjSjPoE-Ppj9RQsLOz.!sync": [20130426 15:43:08] Error: x,u0qWitYS9Xl1E-mjxjzKMpi,XdoikblNSE0kJVDMKEkDvShNXVvgWmJTBUl6IzSzq1JmAPbBmcHc6Tx39Ao9dYvaatj890Q-HFooH,u,aE-wX-UZmWQlJKPdBZyRJJjvwlNErjSjPoE-Ppj9RQsLOz - WriteToDisk: File name too long The web-ui is downloading everything except for the last 4.2 megabytes (which I assume is the blocksize of the torrent entries) and shows constant network traffic (221.3 kB/s up, 0.2 kB/s down). @devs: My log file is 100mb+ so I provided just a single line. If you need more information, I am happy to upload the file somewhere. (see next post)
  12. I installed the same version of resilio-sync on two fedora workstations following this page: When I connect these two computers on a standard directory, they are not connected to each others "no peer online -- 0 of 0". In fact I can see a warning message in the Web UI configuration page : "Connection settings overwritten by config". I don't know what this message means. My configuration file loaded by the rslsync is located in ~/.config/resilio-sync/config.json and its content looks like: { "storage_path" : "~/.config/resilio-sync/storage", "pid_file" : "~/.config/resilio-sync/", "webui" : { "force_https": true, "listen" : "" } I checked the troubleshooting procedure: my connection allow TCP and UDP packets, .... and I can't find out what the problem could be. Note that I have been using Resilio since 3 years without any problem.
  13. Hello all, The situation i'm not certain about is a Linux pc with a remote share (SMB or NFS) mounted at, e.g., "/mnt/syncfolder/". This folder is synced by a locally running instance of Sync. If mounting the remote share fails in the first place or the share becomes unavailable at some point, the folder "/mnt/syncfolder/" still exists, but the contents will be different since it is no longer backed by the remote share but by a local disk. Typically the folder would then be empty. How will Sync behave in such a case? Will it somehow detect that the folder is not actually a Sync folder and not use it anymore, and will it resume activity when the share is available again? Will it see the empty folder and tell all other peers to delete everything in it? Will it see that other peers have a valid data structure and sync their data into "/mnt/syncfolder/" while it points to some local drive instead of the remote share? Thank you, Henner
  14. I installed resilio in a Raspbarry Pi running raspbiam buster following this instructions. But whenever i try tu use a command with ./rslsync as the instruction said I get a 'there is no such thing as ./rslsync' error Help please! How do I runn the commands that use ./rslsync --something
  15. I use ResilioSync to move files from one server to another across the country. I have a script that I wrote (that I trigger manually) that processes the file on the receiving end and moves it out of the "incoming" folder. This part is working flawlessly. I'm trying to figure out a way to automatically trigger my script when a new file has finished transferring via Resilio Sync. Any suggestions?
  16. I'm syncing two directories between my Linux laptop and my QNAP NAS station. There are some symlinks, which I would like to have synchronized as well, without its referenced content. Yet the symlinks do not get synchronised at all (neither dereference nor following the link).
  17. On Ubuntu Server 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus) I've installed Resilio Sync and started by: systemctl enable resilio-sync adjusted the /etc/resilio-sync/config.json file: { "listening_port" : 0, "storage_path" : "/var/lib/resilio-sync/", "pid_file" : "/var/run/resilio-sync/", "agree_to_EULA": "yes", "webui" : { "listen" : "", "login" : "xxx", "password_hash" : "xxx" } } restarted the service, and everything works fine, on URL http://196.168.666.666:999/gui. Next, I'm creating a certificate in /etc/resilio-sync/ folder: openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 9999 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout sync.key -out sync.crt and updating config.json: { "listening_port" : 0, "storage_path" : "/var/lib/resilio-sync/", "pid_file" : "/var/run/resilio-sync/", "agree_to_EULA": "yes", "webui" : { "listen" : "", "login" : "xxx", "password_hash" : "xxx" ,"force_https" : true ,"ssl_certificate" : "/etc/resilio-sync/sync.crt" ,"ssl_private_key" : "/etc/resilio-sync/sync.key" } } Unfortunately, now when I access https://196.168.666.666:999/gui the connection fails. Any idea what may be wrong?
  18. Hello, I managed to get resilio sync up and running on my new install of OpenSuse Leap 42.2. However, I tried to update my repos and zypper came back with the error: "Permission to access '' denied." I looked in Yast and noticed that there is no GPG key there for resilio, though I did import it using the prescribed method in the documentation. Thinking that might be the problem, I reimported it, to no effect. Any tips?
  19. Hi, Am a new user but loving the look and feel of Resilio sync. Been trying for the last day or two to get it up and running on my NAS but am having no success in accessing the webui. I installed the Linux ARM version onto my NSA 325. It's not an officially supported NAS but this build should work fine. I think I have installed it correctly and it appears to be running (as I can trigger messages such as: Resilio Sync is already running with pid 5097 No matter what IP address I use though I cannot access the webui to set anything up. Based on various forum threads I have tried the addresses listed below. All result in a failed to load/find page message. I have also tried restarting my NAS. Any advice? (IP address of my NAS) Thanks, Stuart
  20. I want to try Resilio, because it seems to be the only solution which supports Linux, IOS, and Androiod as well. Unfortunatly my first try on Linux fails. I'd like to install Resilio on a Ubuntu Xenial computer according to this guide: Here is the output of my sources file for resilio: deb resilio-sync non-f The Resilio key is in my list: pub 2048R/3F171DE2 2017-12-22 uid Resilio, Inc. <> apt update is not complaining: Hit:4 resilio-sync InRelease But the command sudo apt-get install resilio-sync does not work as described: E: Unable to locate package resilio-sync What's wrong?
  21. Hi all, I received a raspberry pi for Christmas and I am trying to set it up as a home sync/backup server. I have successfully mounted an external hard drive to my Pi and can interface with it successfully, but Resilio Sync cannot access the hard drive. Question is: is this a Sync issue or a Linux/Rasbpian issue? How can I remedy this? Many thanks
  22. I cant get sync to work with "Camera Backup" folders. I want to sync an "Camera Backup" from an Android device to an Raspberrypi running raspbian using an config file. Syncing the "Camera Backup" to an desktop pc with windows and without config-file works perfectly fine, also other "normal" folders on the raspberrypi are beeing synced perfectly even with the said Android device. Here is my config, with changed values for posting: { "device_name": "HOSTNAME", "use_upnp" : true, "download_limit" : 8000, "upload_limit" : 500, "shared_folders" : [ { "secret" : "SECRET", // required field - use --generate-secret in command line to c$ "dir" : "FOLDERPATH", // * required field "use_relay_server" : true, // use relay server when direct connection fails "use_tracker" : true, "search_lan" : true, "use_sync_trash" : true, // enable SyncArchive to store files deleted on remote devices "overwrite_changes" : true // restore modified files to original version, ONLY for Read-Only folders } .... what am i missing?
  23. I'm upgrading my sync installations on my servers from the yeasoft version (btsync 2.0.95) to the new official Debian/Ubuntu version (rslsync 2.4.4) and I'm encountering some weird permission issues. On some of my servers sync seems to ignore group permissions. Example: sync runs as user rslsync, group staff rslsync:x:104:50::/var/lib/btsync:/bin/false staff:x:50: I try to sync the directory /etc/nagios/nrpe.d/ root@Siamorphe:~# ls -alh /etc/nagios drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K Mär 11 15:10 . drwxr-xr-x 99 root root 4,0K Mär 15 06:44 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8,1K Jul 15 2014 nrpe.cfg drwxrwxr-x 3 root staff 4,0K Mär 11 18:17 nrpe.d -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 117 Jul 15 2014 nrpe_local.cfg root@Siamorphe:~# ls -alh /etc/nagios/nrpe.d drwxrwxr-x 3 root staff 4,0K Mär 11 18:17 . drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4,0K Mär 11 15:10 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 rslsync staff 1,8K Mär 11 18:17 custom_checks.cfg drwxr-xr-x 3 rslsync staff 4,0K Mär 15 06:42 .sync On most hosts this works but on one it doesn't, I get "Don't have permissions to write to selected folder" root@Sharess:~# ls -alh /etc/nagios drwxrwxr-x 3 root staff 4,0K Mär 15 09:51 . drwxrwxr-x 90 root staff 4,0K Mär 15 09:38 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8,0K Mär 11 14:38 nrpe.cfg drwxrwxr-x 2 root staff 4,0K Mär 15 09:51 nrpe.d -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 117 Jul 15 2014 nrpe_local.cfg root@Sharess:~# ls -alh /etc/nagios/nrpe.d drwxrwxr-x 2 root staff 4,0K Mär 15 09:51 . drwxrwxr-x 3 root staff 4,0K Mär 15 09:51 .. If I change the login shell of the user rslsync to bash and manually try to write to this folder that works without problem (as it should, because of the group permissions). The working servers are Ubuntu 16.04 or Debian 8, as is the broken one. The only apparent difference I see is the kernel: broken: Linux Sharess 3.16.0-4-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 3.16.39-1+deb8u2 (2017-03-07) i686 GNU/Linux works: Linux Deneir 3.16.0-4-586 #1 Debian 3.16.39-1+deb8u2 (2017-03-07) i686 GNU/Linux works: Linux Siamorphe 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.39-1+deb8u2 (2017-03-07) x86_64 GNU/Linux works: Linux Gond 4.4.0-66-generic #87-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 3 15:29:05 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Nevertheless, on one of the servers where this folder works (Gond), I get for some other previously working folders the don't have permissions error. Somebody got any idea what could be the problem here?
  24. Hello! I really don't know whether I need to present myself because I found nothing about it. Anyway, It's been about one month since the problem I'm facing first occurred. To be specific, I tried two things: I started the Resilio sync client in daemon mode, then I monitored resource consumption and I noticed it occurred while it was adding event listeners to each file. Then, I decided to try updating the client and reinstalling (I just downloaded the archive from the site and re-extracted). By adding one folder at a time, I noticed that when I added a really big folder (in terms of number of files) the problem reoccurred. I hope to get some help and I'm ready to provide all kind of debug information. Thanks in advance, Eugenio.
  25. Hello, I´ve installed Resilio Sync using the below link. I did the basic configuration and I can access the 8888 webgui successfully. The local user created is rslsync (with group same name), that is different from the Web Gui user. The server I installed Resilio, is a production CPANEL server, and the idea is to have all Cpanel accounts and server configs backed up in another location (sync´d), without the need to use CPANEL backup function (that does not support syncing yet) The problem is that resilio sync can´t access each account of Cpanel (folders and subfolders), nor server configurations as it have their own user/group for each account in system. I don´t want to change each folder permissions with chmod with risk to brake CPANEL. So, based on all this. How to run Resilio (service in linux) as root, and/or have automatically access to all folders in CenOS 6 server, without compromising CPANEL system/server? Thanks in advance! Installation link:
