  1. Sync's "Archive" versioning can lead to inflated archive folders if the user updates frequently and the files are of considerable sizes. The existing "sync_trash_ttl" and "max_file_size_for_versioning" options provide little help in practice because they can't be configured per folder. Usually, we don't want to sacrifice the versioning of all other folders just for one particular folder. Please give users more control over versioning: More versioning strategies, such as the ability to limit the max number of versions per file. You can refer to the versioning strategies provided by Syncthing. Allow per folder configuration. Thank you!
  2. Would it be possible to get an IgnoreArchiveList feature? I sync several folders that are code based and preference based. I don't need to archive things in node_modules or plugins folders. I like to have them synced, but they do not need to be backed up and it chews through a lot of disk space at times.
  3. User Story: Manually restoring files from .sync/Archive is not as intuitive as having a GUI. In the initial release it might be as simple as: MyModifiedFile.txt Restore a previous version 2018-04-10 10:30 AM 2018-04-10 10:19 AM 2018-04-09 07:50 PM 2018-04-08 02:00 PM MyDeletedFile.txt Restore file In further iterations it might implement a file preview and/or a comparison view. The most important feature regarding this would be the ability to unset the deleted status in database so the file can be re-uploaded from an encrypted peer. Thank you, guys. You did an incredible job.
  4. Hello, Current situation: If you have an encrypted folder with RO access on PC [A], and encryped folder without R/RO access on server . And you delete or modify a file on [A], on the file goes to .sync/Archive, but it cannot be restored or shared with other nodes. I would like to be able to select on a random node , for example [A], to restore files from the archive on an other (encrypted) node, for example .
  5. I know that Sync stored earlier file versions in its .sync/Archive folder, but most people using it does not know. People don't read documentation. So I think that when right-clicking a file in Finder (or Explorer) one should be presented with a way of choosing an earlier file version. The dialog should show these fields for each file/folder When was the file created When was it overwritten by the next version Which peer (user+device) had the change that triggered the overwrite/deletion I know that is what proper backups systems are for, but this eases debugging sync issues (which is hard enough as it is), and sending you debug logs every time does not scale :-)
  6. ios 10.3; sync 2.5.10 file is deleted from device and placed in archive. how do i access the archive so that i can delete the file from the archive and free up the storage it is using? thanks.
  7. I've tried adding: ,"folder_defaults.delete_to_trash" : false to my ~/.rslsync/rslsync.conf file, but it errors out when I relaunch rslsync. What is the proper linux command to have in that conf file to disable the Archive? Thanks! -joe
  8. Hello, first of all to thank you for very nice software which really just sits and feels very solid and reliable.. but there are couple of difficulties that doesn't let my heart let it in yet. I have setup the Resilio Sync system like this: I have 2 PCs and one Android phone connected to Raspberry Pi 2, and all of them having Resilio software. PCs get to sync everything and all deleted and changed files gets archived and then replaced by the new version. The problem now is that the same doesn't happen for Android. Android syncs all the files to the Resilio on Raspberry and one of the PCs, but all deleted files doesn't get archived, but they stay just where they were first time when they were synced.. not moved to .sync folder or deleted. I sent some screenshots so you might have better idea of how I set it up.. all the synced folders are set up identically, but only Android folder syncs are having this problem. Thanks for reading
  9. Hi, on my Linux install of BTSync, in my phone camera backup directory most of the files are in the .sync/Archive directory. What is this for and why are they in there? Thanks, Jamie
  10. Hi all, I've been using the program since the original version available to the public and it has been an amazing time saver! I work on photos on both my macbook and iMac often alternating, and it syncs whatever new images I take and the XMP file updates as I post process. Unfortunately for some reason I have had my files being sent to the archive when both computers are on, and it seems to be occurring for no reason as I have not changed any storage solutions recently or anything. At one point my drive with 500gb of files showed only 40gb left on the drive, yet when I hit get drive info it would still imply it has all 500gb. Thankfully it isn't deleting the files entirely, but I have had to purchase another backup drive as I'm afraid my current RAID backup will be useless if my files delete and are synced to delete, the archive was a savior in that case. Is this an issue that anyone else has experienced recently? It happened before I updated my Sync to 2.35 and has occurred twice since, I need this program to function for me and not have to spend time moving files back into their original folders from the archive. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love Sync and hope to solve this soon

  12. Currently, archived versions of files have their original created, modified and accessed timestamps all replaced by the time that the file was archived. While it's useful to know the exact moment the file was moved to the archive, can the MODIFIED timestamp be retained to allow an historical breadcrumb trail? cheers!
  13. Hi, I noticed the trash time to live setting, believing that the current '.sync/Archive' directory is mentioned by trash. In my sync construction I generate multiple copies per day of large files (like outlook PST files). It would be great if the feature could be added to store just one (as in the previous version of the current/most recent stored) version instead of/next to a time to live. Cheers!
  14. Hey Everyone, So my basic question is - How do you stop the .sync folder changing to be hidden. I have 3 Sync Folders, In 2 of them the .sync folder is never hidden. But in one folder the .sync is hidden, I go into Properties and change it to not be hidden but some time later it reverts back. Any Ideas?? Spec: Windows 7 PC's (2x) with BT Sync 2.0.105
  15. Does BitTorrent Sync care about the ARCHIVE file attribute used by Windows?
  16. Hi, I am running BitTorrent Sync 2.0.93 on an Arch linux server and it works nicely. My only problem is that the disk quota is limited so I have to be pretty careful about archives and storing old files. Currently I am using BTSync with the default settings which means the deleted files all go to a .sync/Archive folder. I tried setting the sync_trash_ttl configuration in /etc/btsync.conf but it basically stopped my daemon to start like it was an unknown configuration directive. My first question would be: Is it safe to manually delete the contents of the .sync/Archive directory? Things are piling up pretty quickly and I'd like to do a spring cleanup. Also, how others achieve immediate deletion of files instead of storing them in there? Thank you in advance, -- Attiila
  17. Hey All, I cannot seem to find a definitive answer on if 'ALL' old files that are stored in the ".sync\archive" folder are kept permanently? and if not is there an setting which when altered will accomplish this? - or are they kept for specific period of time in which case can they be kept permanently? and how? Thank You, in advance Scorpio721
  18. Hello! I use btsync on ubuntu machines and now .sync/Archive folder ir even bigger than rest of sync folder. Is it possible to disable archiving or at least somehow limiting size of it. I found how to do that in windows client, but i have only one windows machine the rest of them are linux. Is it ok if i just delete this folder? Please help.
  19. Archive = copys one direction deleting original Copy= copys one direction but doesn't copy deletes Sync = copys both directions and copies deletes Possibly more but these would be good to start
  20. Hi, A couple of my folders on BTSync were deleted when I switched on one of my synced computers today. Apparrently, another of my computers 'deleted' files in the night. I am not sure how to remedy this. I found some of the files in the sync archive of the former computer. However, they have lost the timestamps when they were first created + latest modification. Is there a way to recover these metadata? I also don't know if more files have been lost...? Would anyone know what the problem is? On a related note, I've also noticed that the upload/download status have been stuck for weeks, usually ~Mb order of magnitude. Furthermore, some files just don't sync over the computers. I really hope to recover the files, they are for work... Thank you for the help. Also to add, out of the 3 computers, which I have access to 2 now, there seems to be different extent of deletions.
  21. Hello, I am wondering if archiving an be turned off? I have been playing around with btsync on a pair of Raspberry Pis. One of the RPis is capturing data and updating several files ever minute. The SD card is obviously quite small (4GB) compared to most desktops but is more than sufficient for the requirements. When I turn on btsync I have about 44% free space. Within about 6 hours the card is full. A second somewhat related question. Is there some extra documentation somewhere that describes what the options in the config file do? The user manual mentions items like.. “disk_low_priority”: true “rate_limit_local_peers”: false“folder_rescan_interval”: 600 “sync_max_time_diff”: 600“lan_encrypt_data”: true “sync_trash_ttl”: 30“lan_use_tcp”: false “send_buf_size”: 5“max_file_size_diff_for_patching”: 1000 “recv_buf_size”: 5“max_file_size_for_versioning”: 1000 .. but doesn't describe the functions. Thanks, Mark
