  1. User Story: Manually restoring files from .sync/Archive is not as intuitive as having a GUI. In the initial release it might be as simple as: MyModifiedFile.txt Restore a previous version 2018-04-10 10:30 AM 2018-04-10 10:19 AM 2018-04-09 07:50 PM 2018-04-08 02:00 PM MyDeletedFile.txt Restore file In further iterations it might implement a file preview and/or a comparison view. The most important feature regarding this would be the ability to unset the deleted status in database so the file can be re-uploaded from an encrypted peer. Thank you, guys. You did an incredible job.
  2. Hello, Current situation: If you have an encrypted folder with RO access on PC [A], and encryped folder without R/RO access on server . And you delete or modify a file on [A], on the file goes to .sync/Archive, but it cannot be restored or shared with other nodes. I would like to be able to select on a random node , for example [A], to restore files from the archive on an other (encrypted) node, for example .

  4. Is it possible to setup mobile backup folders to be encrypted? I would like to back up my pictures on my phone to two places. In one place I would like a read only folder and in the other places I would like an encrypted folder.
  5. Hi I wanted to setup an encrypted folder inside a cloud service such as OneDrive or Dropbox but it's not working as anticipated. This is what I did: - Created a new encrypted folder from within BTSync (2.3.1), located inside my local OneDrive Folder that is synched to the cloud - Added a few sample files - I expected to have unencrypted access from my desktop pc but having the folder encrypted in the cloud - Accessed my OneDrive folder in the cloud from my laptop (via Web Browser) - Files are accessible unencrypted Looks like since OneDrive has unencrypted R/W access on my PC, it transfers all files within the folder unencrypted. Any suggestions how to setup such an encrypted backup folder inside a cloud service? Thanks!
  6. Hello, I'd like to sync my Android-Pictures to my Laptop and an always-on-RaspberryPi. Following setup after creating Secrets via API: Laptop: ReadWrite Android: ReadWrite RasPi: EncryptedSecret For testing purposes I closed BTSync on my Laptop, and expected a transmission of pictures to my RasPi. But nothing happened. BTSync showed a connected Peer, even correctly displaying the amount of Data and the numbers of Files, but my Android-Phone just did not want to sync. I turned my Laptop on, and my Phone started syncing to my Laptop - which succesfully synced to the RaspberryPi. Turning my Laptop off after a while - sync from Android to RasPi wont continue. Adding the ReadWrite Secret to the RaspberryPi works like a charm - but other people have access to the attached storage as well, so I would like to store my pictures encrypted.... Any Ideas? Just Reinstalled BTSync without Backup/Restore, did not help. FYI: I'm encountering the "App crashes regulary error" (Already discussed in some other topics) as well, before the reinstallation just as afterwards, stopped crashing when attached to a power source [did not]. Thank you very much in advance Sincerely Dominik edit: after the reinstall BTSync on my RasPi does not receive the correct number of files anymore, on my Laptop it does. edit2: well, it does get the number of files after a while.... and even whilst crashing everytime, the backround-sync does work anyway
  7. When adding an encrypted key (i.e. a read-only key with no decryption key) to an already existing folder (that was synced earlier with the same key), the folder is added with an entirely different, unrelated key than the one provided, and it indicates no peers active. I've gone ahead and confirmed that it actually does use the new key (by adding the new key on another device) and it starts syncing the encrypted files. How can I add an already existing encrypted folder and start syncing the files with other nodes using the initial key? Thanks. P.S. I tried adding debug logging, and when I searched through the log, there were no mention of, or even part of the key in question. The log is too large to post, but I will do so if asked.
  8. BTSync 1.3.105 crashes on startup on Linux x86_64 (Debian stable server). Crash happens when BTSync detects that a file update has been detected in an encrypted RO share. Currently this happens within a second of starting btsync. Here is the terminal output using --nodaemon: SyncFilesController: started periodic scanSyncFilesController [file updated]: Processing file <PATH_TO_HASHED_FILE> 1401206360 603SyncFilesController: Detected updated file "<HASHED_FILE>" (R/O). Checking filehashassert failed ./SyncFilesControllerRO.cpp:365 (16973929)SyncFolderNotify: ".SyncID", event = "IN_CLOSE_WRITE"[OnNotifyFileChange] <PATH_TO_SHARE>/.SyncID, source = NULLAbortedHere is the debug log output: [20140530 14:23:12.809] SyncFilesController: Detected updated file "<HASHED_FILE>" (R/O). Checking filehash[20140530 14:23:12.810] SyncFolderNotify: ".SyncID", event = "IN_CLOSE_WRITE"[20140530 14:23:12.810] [OnNotifyFileChange] <PATH_TO_FOLDER>/.SyncID, source = NULLI have replaced sensitive information above with <EXPLANATION_TEXT>. To isolate the problem, the only other machine that has access to the secret (encrypted RW), which means it has BTSync running, is also a Linux x86_64 machine. BTSync is the same version. BTSync does not crash on this machine which has the encrypted RW version of the same secret. I have tried to delete everything in .sync folder as well as all .SyncID files. Everything is setup via config file, webgui is disabled. This setup has worked for months using previous versions of BTSync. The crash began after updating to 1.3.105, but now going back to previous version does not help. Although I have not tested by deleting all .SyncID files and .sync folder contents prior to going back to an older version.
  9. I use encrypted zip files (.zipx, password protected) which contains many files that I work on regularly. The file is approximately 50 MB in size. If I use bittorrent, will the entire file be synced (uploaded/downloaded) whenever I make any change? Bandwidth is an issue to me, so it would help me immensly if only the changed parts of the file is synced.
