  1. Hi everyone, I'm using a raspberry pi to run Resilio Sync for my external hard drive to backup all my files. I've installed Raspian on it and followed the linux installation guide found here. Everything seems to work, I am able to access the user interface via localhost:8888/gui, however I'm getting this error: when I try to use the external hard drive. Does anyone know what may cause this problem and how to fix it? Many thanks
  2. I have an external drive that I have synced 4 TB to from an old PC and now I want to move that drive to a new PC and set up Sync on there. Is there a way to set this up so I do not have to overwrite all 4 TB on the external drive? I’d like sync to pick up where the old machine left off without wiping all the existing synced data.
  3. Hello, If I set up the sync to en external HDD on one of the computers, and then disconnect it at some point, will the app detect it as though I "deleted" the files and erase them on the other end, or will it see that the device is missing and act as though it is "not connected"? Thanks in advance for the answers!
  4. Hi, I just was curious about the function of folders when they are copied. When I copy a folder from one hard drive (#1) that has a folder already being synced to another computer's (#2), when viewed on the new hard drive which I copied it onto (#3) it has the Sync label in the Mac finder view. Does this mean that the new copied folder onto the 3rd external drive will also be synced? It is under a different name and is not listed under the folders when opened in Sync, it is just the view in the finder that leads me to believe that. The drive #3 is a backup of sorts, if that makes a difference. Cheers and thanks! Included an image of the folder in finder as well.
  5. I've seen several threads here, but wanted to add mine. I've been using Sync on 5.1 and previous on several rooted devices with the ExtSD write fix patch to sync my music and pictures. It's been great. But lets just focus on the music since it’s been a static set of files for quite some time. 826 files, 3.7gb. I've recently upgraded my LG G4 to Marshmallow and after the fact I find there is apparently no ExtSD write fix for 6.0. I don't expect that to stay the case, my LGOG e970 with NitrogenOS MM 6.0 Rom can write to ExtSD as always. Pretty sure I was running Sync 2.3.4 at this time. I've been trying to use Sync on my G4 periodically since the upgrade with no luck at all. After the upgrade the ExtSD path had changed so all of my sync folders were broken. At first I tried to remove them and re-add them one by one with the new SAF "ON SD CARD". That was extremely slow and not very responsive, Frequently it wouldn't accept clicking "Add folder", it would just sit there like nothing happened. This was without deleting the ".Sync" folder. So I stopped trying to add the rest of my folders again and just let it sit for a day or so to index. Updated to Sync 2.3.5 which claimed fixed getting stuck indexing on SD Card Folders continued to index. I think it was making progress. The file count in details was increasing, across a day and a half I index 250ish files.... That's insanely slow. Clears data from Sync and started over with a clean folder. Sync still says indexing, transfers have started, details reports size 1gb. But it seemed to be stuck there. I chose to “Exit” sync from menus, and it appeared to shut down properly. After restarting Sync, it listed “Database Error” next to my folder. I chose Exit again, then started to work on this post. I reloaded Sync to get some of the exact working of the buttons and labels and now it back to indexing. The Database error fixed itself? And suddenly the folder size is reporting 2gb (427mb synced). 445 Files (101 synced). It’s seems to me like it’s not even getting/processing the full file list. I also just tried removing the folder and reconnecting with a folder “ON PHONE” and while the file list seems to download within 10 minutes, the transfer has stalled out at 318mb and reverted to indexing. Details reports the proper 826 files 3.7gb. On my other devices the peers listing shows the G4 as offline. If I cycle wifi on the G4, for a moment it shows on the other devices as online and sending. The G4 peer list shows receiving, but the folder list still says indexing. Before I could actually post this the internal storage has finally decided to work. Music is has finished transferring to internal storage.
  6. Hey Guys - I use BTSync (Pro) to synchronize many folders between multiple devies - one of which is my Nvidia Shield Tablet which runs Lollipop 5.1.1. When first moving to 5.1.1 a few months ago, I rooted it and added a 64gb SD card. I then edited "/etc/permissions/platform.xml" to add the  "WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" string therefore providing all apps with full write to the SD card. I installed BTsync, set up my options, and linked 4-5 folders to various folders on the SD card without issue. Besides BTSync, I use FolderMount to create symlinks on my internal SD so that I may store all my large games / apps externally. Today, I renamed a folder on my PC so had to set up the pair again. The Issue When in BTSync in Android, I choose to link the folder, but could only select a folder from the internal SD - not the external one as before! When I go to select the folder, it asks if I want to use on on the Phone Storage or SD Card, but either I pick show the same thing: a screen with "Recent" as the only choice. From that screen, I can hide / unhide the internal SD, but see no reference to the external one. There are no errors, I just can't see / browse to it! I am sure this is due to a BTSync update from the past few months as I haven't changed the OS or anything else. All other applications still have full access to the external SD, too. How may I get the external SD to show as an option in this newest version of BTSync? If it makes a difference, I still have the default folder path in Advanced Options set to "/storage/sdcard1" (which I believe is the external one and sdcard0 is internal) and Simple Mode disabled yet when I try to even create a new folder from the app; I can't browse to the external SD card either. Please help - Thanks!
  7. Hello guys, I'm trying to sync a folder from pc to my phone (sd card) , but when I choose a folder it pops up that I don't have permission to write on the sdcard (I just can sync in the standard folder .../data/com.bittorrent.sync/files, however I can't see the images in my gallery when I sync with the standard folder) Do you guys know how to write in a different folder and how to see the pictures in the standard folder in my gallery? Thanks
  8. When I have an Android TV (yes, I know not supported but still fully running) I found out that I can backup a folder on an external usbdisk connected to my Android TV, but I cannot add a normal folder from that same external usbdisk. Why is that different? It sounds to me that the file permissions are not the problem, right? I want to have the option to create a folder (from a read/write-key) in that external usbdisk (/storage/usbdisk/media for example). Why? Simple, because I can have my NAS or pc as a source and sync it always with my Android TV without any interaction by me. Due to limitations of Android 5.x or app-limitations (?) I cannot automatically move files from /sdcard (main volume) to /storage/usbdisk while I can backup /storage/usbdisk/media in Bittorrent Sync which implies that it should be possible to do, right? Hope anyone has tips or solutions...and maybe news of upcoming version (that can be sideloaded on Android TV ). Thnx!
  9. Hi! Could you please tell me, if I have synced folder on an external drive and I swap that drive with another with same volume name but not same amount of files in synced folder (for example fewer), will Btsync decide that those files were deleted and will remove them from other devices, or it will sync missing files back from other devices? I mean, for example I have external drive named "Brick" and have synced folder on it. Btsync path is /Volumes/Brick/sFolder sFolder contains 10 files and synced with another computer. I swap "Brick" with another drive, also named "Brick", so path /Volumes/Brick/sFolderstays the same, but sFolder contains 8 files. Will Btsync delete 2 files from another computer, or it will download those files from another computer? Thanks! Sorry for grammar mistakes.
  10. I am trying to sync LARGE folder from a Windows Machine to any other device (at the moment a Raspberry Pi with a USB Drive, but if I get this working it will be any other device). Large is just shy of 3TB. My thinking was that while I have access to USB I could pre-sync the folder by simply copying files over and then running BTSync to mirror any additional changes. Sync of course wanted to overwrite every file on the Pi. I am assuming due to changes in the file attributes triggering sync to replace them. Trying to use Sync across the lan will take roughly a Month and is outside the bounds of my timeframe. My next try was to use a Robocopy /copyall which in theory should make an exact duplicate of the file including attributes (created/modified timestamps etc). Still wants to overwrite the entire contents of the drive. I am a little stumped, and hopefully there is a way to achieve this? I really like Sync and dont want to have to resort to rsync and chron to automate mirroring my drive. tl:dr How do you manually copy files from a source directory to a target directory and then have Sync maintain them as mirrored without overwriting every file in the target. PS: Apologies if this is a trivial question. I'm new to sync, and spent most of yesterday on Google, and these Forums trying to figure this out.
  11. I have just upgraded to Sync 2.0 on my Android phone (version 5.0.1) and wanted to sync my data with my new removable SD card, but it seems that the application does not create the folder /Android/data/com.bittorrent.sync automatically on the latter. As a result I can't synchronize data on my SD card which quite annoying. Anyway to create that folder manually ? Any workaround I could use ? Thank you. Best regards,
  12. This is a dumb question, but I'm obviously new to this and want to make sure I know what I'm doing. I've added a folder from my external hard drive (372 GB) and my employer needs to access these files. If I remove the external hard drive will it delete my folder on Bittorent Sync? And also, does the external hard drive have to be connected for my employer to access the files?
  13. I'm totally new to BTSync and didn't find any info on this case in the forums. Feel free to tell me to go search again if I just missed it or point me to a starting point. I'd like to setup an USB external HDD (HFS+, occasionally connected to a MacBook) to sync it's entire contents or folders with a share on my NAS (EXT4, Synology DS213 DSM 5.0). I'd like that sync to happen whether I'm on my LAN where the NAS is or if I'm remote (Internet). Is that doable with BTSync? Any major road blocks? I see a ton of possible road blocks, I just don't know if BTSync work around those, namely: a sometimes disconnected drive, different file system formats... One note based on another thread I read. The data on the ext usb drive is not syncing with my local drive. It's only on the external and the NAS. Basically I want to use the NAS as primary, but have the external always up to date for when I go off-grid.
