  1. Hi, I'm syncing from a Mac Pro to two NAS units, a QNAP and a Synology, and both NASes keep showing folders that are stuck at 100% but never get to the green checkmark. Closer inspection reveals that each of the stuck folders is stuck downloading files. The Mac is running 2.6.4 (1344), the Synology is running 2.6.4 (1344) and the QNAP is running 2.6.0 (1317). I tried shutting down the QNAP and setting up the problematic folder over from scratch between just the Mac and the Synology to keep versions equal, and the problem persisted. Any idea what could be causing this and what I can do to resolve it? Thanks, -Seb
  2. This has been like this for awhile now. I noticed that when dark mode is enabled on macOS, the menu bar icon is white and looks very out of place. I was wondering if there was a timeline for fixing this.
  3. Guys, when will you fix your icon for Mac? It really an eyesore.
  4. I've got what's admittedly a pretty large share, ~38GB, syncing between several Macs and a NAS. 2.3 has been great on the NAS and it works fine on the Macs except the thing is indexing several times an hour and chewing huge amounts of CPU and battery when it does. CPU will peg a core at 100% for 15 minutes at a time and the Energy Impact on my laptops puts BitTorrent Sync as consuming about twice as much power as everything else running on those machines combined. This was a complete non-issue with previous v2.x versions. Is there anything I can provide to help debug? [Here is a possible solution build - RomanZ]
  5. Hi, Some files are not synchronized between Mac and Windows. They all contain a dot at the end of the folder name. For example : /folder/folder./folder/file.txt Some files are unreadable. They contain a space at the end of their their folder name or a dot at the end of their file name. For example : /folder/folder/file. Or : /folder/folder /file.txt Thank you
  6. Hello All, I am having very slow speeds over the internet between two laptops (Macbooks using OS X). Previously, Resilio Sync was pretty fast (for me) 3 MB/s speeds but now the speeds are hovering around 320 KB/s - 400 KB/s and I cant seem to figure out how to get back to the same speeds as before. Both networks have a 115 Mbps download and a 10-13 Mbps upload on both WiFi and wired, and I have tried to troubleshoot everything I could before coming here: - Putting both laptops in DMZ - Port forwarding the port in Resilio Sync's settings on both routers. - Disabling "Use a relay server when required" in Resilio Sync's settings - Enabling UPnP on both routers (on by default) - Connecting both machines directly to their respective modems via ethernet cable bypassing the routers Nothing seems to work, I am honestly out of ideas but perhaps somebody here has a resolution. Both machines are on the latest version of Resilio Sync 2.5.9 Any help would be appreciated!! Edit: All the sudden its back up to full speed again after being slow for like a month... Miracle?
  7. Hi All Need some help with logic read/write multi pc setup I have a Windows 10 server (my backup destination ) I have 2 Windows laptops used for work 1 Mac I use as a backup I need all these to synch the documents folder and downloads folder to each machine and a copy held on the server as a master backup , how would I configure this and what would be read/write - is it as simple as read/write shares, get a link and go to next machine, read write etc - sorry sounding like a total noob I'm slightly worried of overwriting /deleting my data especially 500GB of work docs thanks in advance
  8. Hi, I've installed Resilio Sync with the intention of syncing my Mac's Desktop & Documents folder between two Macs. I don't want separate sub-folders within a 'Resilio Sync' folder, I want a regular file hierarchy of [myusername]/Documents and [myusername]/Dekstop both kept up to date across the two Macs using Resilio Sync. I've setup a share of [myusername]/Documents on Mac 1 and emailed it to myself. Received it on Mac 2 and gone to setup a sync. But Resilio Sync is telling me I can't point the received sync at [myusername]/Documents on the second Mac as I 'Already have a sync in operation'. Aha - maybe it doesn't like the fact that a Documents folder already exists in my home directory. But I can't delete Documents from my home folder as the Mac complains that it's required by macOS. So to sum-up: When I try to point my Mac 1 share of [myusername]/Documents to the [myusername]/Documents of Mac 2, Resilio Sync tells me I'm already syncing it. If it's relevant my usernames are identical on both Macs. Does anyone have any ideas how to achieve what I'm trying? Thanks, Steve
  9. So I'm working in a small company that has a few employees, we have lots of images, photoshop documents, and illustrator files. All of which need some sort of tags to make things easily searchable, and make it easy to collaborate. We use Mac's and PC's. I haven't seen any Digital Asset Managers I like, and I don't want to place my bets on a software company that goes broke, so I'd rather just use Sync and built in OS file explorers. I plan on using the Mac's and Finder as the main way to access, organize and tag files. I know windows cannot see macOS tags, but does windows pass along tags, and would Sync properly pass these along? So if a file is synced from a mac to a PC, then back to a mac again, would the tags be retained? Is this a crazy way to do things or should I just find a proper Asset Manager?
  10. The German computer magazine "Mac & i" just published a story about the problems many cloud services encounter while syncing Mac files (05-2017). The review includes Resilio Sync 2.4.5 - take a look.
  11. Good morning, I am trying to install Resilio Sync Home on Mac OS X 10.10.5 and it does not allow me to install it since it indicates that it is damaged and can not be opened I downloaded it with different browser and from another computer passing it to this but the problem persists Attached screenshot to see that error. A greeting.
  12. Dear Sync community, I've posted the issue previously in but im afraid, the following problem still persists: Resilio Sync 2.4.4 (732) is shown as occupying 100% CPU in 'Activity Monitor'. A folder containing ~114.000 of admittedly small files (45 GB) is constantly shown as indexing, even when setting folder_rescan_interval to e.g. 3600. I noticed the constant indexing issue also on a Synology NAS, however setting folder_rescan_interval to 3600 seems to have helped to alleviate the issue a bit here. On the Mac, running the command sudo fs_usage -w -f filesys > fs_usage_resilio.log will produce a ~750 MB log file within 30 seconds when resilio is running (as opposed to 1.6 MB within 30 seconds with resilio turned off). within the logfile the following sequences are repeated seemingly for every synced file: 19:52:03.015920 lstat64 <path-to-some-synced-file> 0.000005 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:03.015930 listxattr <path-to-some-synced-file> 0.000009 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:03.015935 getxattr <path-to-some-synced-file> 0.000005 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:03.016021 open F=53 (R_____) <path-to-some-synced-file> 0.000006 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:03.016022 fcntl F=53 <GETPATH> 0.000001 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:03.016023 close F=53 0.000002 Resilio Sync.1138808 [...] 19:52:16.106473 lstat64 <path-to-some-synced-folder> 0.000002 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:16.106490 write F=6 B=0xa3 0.000003 Resilio Sync.1138593 19:52:16.106491 lseek F=6 O=0x02bfd39d <SEEK_SET> 0.000001 Resilio Sync.1138593 19:52:16.106536 open F=127 (R_____) <path-to-some-synced-folder> 0.000003 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:16.106537 fcntl F=127 <GETPATH> 0.000001 Resilio Sync.1138808 19:52:16.106538 close F=127 0.000001 Resilio Sync.1138808 With this behaviour of frequent re-indexing and constant file access it is not feasible to run resilio on that folder permanently without draining the battery. Has anybody else encountered a similar issue on their system? Thank you for your help.
  13. As the title says, I'd really like to see support on OS X for using a Smart Folder as a read-only shared folder in BT Sync, as it would give a huge amount of control over the content that is shared. For those that haven't used them before, Smart Folders are basically just a search in the Finder that is saved as a persistent folder that can be revisited to see results matching that search. For example, I could create a Smart Folder showing all movie files of a certain type, tagged in a certain way, or added since a particular date etc. Working with Smart Folders is fairly simple, as they're actually just XML files (you can open them in TextEdit), and you will see inside there is a RawQuery and SearchScopes (folders to search within) that can be used to perform the same search in Spotlight using its API (or mdfind), either way allowing you to easily grab the contents matching the query so that they can be checked for changes. In fact, both the API and mdfind allow the results of a search to be monitored for changes. This would give an incredible amount of control over what BT Sync shares, without requiring us to first move or copy files into a shared folder (or use hard-links, which are all kinds of tricky to get right). The only caveat is that it should probably be be read-only, as reconciling differences would be a massive pain (and probably destructive). On the receiving side the "contents" of the smart folder would be just like any other regular folder of files, regardless of where the files are being pulled from on the sending side. I expect that there are similar features on other operating systems by now, so support them would be great too, but I'm only familiar with Smart Folders on OS X.
  14. With selective sync enabled, if I double click a placeholder file in Finder it will begin downloading it from a peer. If I double click the placeholder file again before it has completed downloading (let's say I'm impatient...), the file disappears altogether from Finder. Once the download completes, the original file is correctly shown again. This is problematic because (AFAICT) I lose the ability to cancel the sync of the file.
  15. The Mac app has some unexpected window behavior. If I use ⌘W to close the app window, the dock icon closes but the sync icon in the menu bar stays open. If I use ⌘Q to close the app, both the dock icon and the menu bar close. Is this the expected behavior? It seems out of line with other app behaviors on the Mac so I'm surprised every time when my sync engine is suddenly not running!
  16. Lately I've been noticing that a lot of my Time Machine backups are always around a 1gb or more, even when I haven't done anything that seemed to warrant it; turned out the culprit is Resilio Sync's folder under ~/Library/Application Support. It seems that a large number of the files that are stored here (presumably indexes) are touched fairly often, causing them to be backup up at least two or three times a day, even though nothing in my sync folder(s) has changed. I'd like to propose that indices and other non-crucial files be moved instead to a folder under ~/Library/Caches (which Time Machine ignores), as it should be possible to simply regenerate them if they're invalid. This way files under ~/Library/Application Support can be restricted only to those that are absolutely crucial (i.e- folder key(s), settings etc.).
  17. Hello, Resilio does not start under Sierra. I double click on it an nothing happens. No Resilio process in activity monitor. I re-installed with no success. Is that a known problem or does anybody have an idea what could be wrong? Thanks in advance!
  18. I don't have context menu for resilio sync on my mac. What is the proper way to delete a file from all devices then?
  19. Hi there, is there a way to have the files that live at ~/Library/Resilio Sync live on another disk? The files tend to get quite large and my SSD is quite small. Is there a property I can change? Or it simply a simlink? If it's a simlink, will it work or will I irreparably break the universe? Thanks!!
  20. BitTorrent Sync is running in excess of 100% of the CPU on OS X Sierra ( GM Version 16A319). Any betas out I can test? I'm running Version 2.3.8 (2.3.8) Thanks, Paul
  21. Is there a known bug with Mac program files (DMG) synching? I had two folders that were finished synching yesterday. I took one file, a 6.6 MB OS X app (in DMG format) out of one folder and put it into another folder. The folder the file was added to is now attempting to sync with the other peer, but it's going at around 100 KB/s or less. And these are two computers on the same LAN, so the speed should be in MB/s not KB/s. I am quite puzzled by what I'm seeing. Is this a known issue?
  22. Hi, I have very often high cpu load on my both macs (mac mini and macbook pro). There are no syncing processes running (no uploads, no downloads and no indexing). One core is at 100% for a long time. Version 2.3.10022 (0) Best regards Kay
  23. Hi, i've installed BTSync on my Synology and on two Macs to sync around 100k files in about 25 GB (lots of JPG and RAW files and a Lightroom database). So far it works… but… The Mac-Client – on is a MacBook Pro – is doing an 'indexing' every 10 Minutes. Every 'indexing' takes a few minutes where BTSync is consuming up to 100% CPU. I've searched a bit and read some longer threads about this indexing-feature but i think i didn't really get it: - Indexing is building a catalogue of all files that i like to sync to detect new/deleted files? - But then, changes made on one mac are transferred to the NAS in nearly realtime… not every 10 Minutes… And if i wake up my MacBook, the files are downloaded from the NAS nearly instant … not after 10 Minutes So again - what is the purpose of creating an index every 10 Minutes? Are there save ways to optimize the clients behavior? I like to have my Lightroom-Files in sync on both Macs and i'm using a NAS because both Macs are not running at the same time. Both Macs are creating/deleting files (JPG-Previews etc.). The NAS is running 24/7 so the 'truth' should always be on that NAS… In this case: Is it save to say, that i don't need to build an index on the macs every 10 Minutes but for example only once a day? I mean: If i'm working on the local iMac, changes are synced to the NAS in real-time. If i'm working on the MacBook it's the same when i'm at home. Only if i'm working on the MacBook while i'm traveling i need to be sure, that the MacBook will sync all new/changed files to the NAS when i'm back home - While BTSync is running, it should know those changes in realtime, right? So - Why do i need such index in my use case? Is it save to turn it off or set it a way longer interval (once every 10 hours or so) on the mac-clients? Could i even change the interval on the NAS (or turn it off completely) to let the HDDs sleep again from time to time? Thanks a lot for your help to clarify this topic
  24. I tried to setup a sync from desktop to desktop however opening files on the second machine produces an error that the proper index was not found. Also during sync we get several errors about a large time differences.
  25. I have been using BTSync for a while and still have some old folders from the v1.2/v1.4 beta time (or whatever the version was in the beginning) in case this could be relevant or help troubleshooting my issue. I never noticed any problems with my folders, but since I recently linked my devices and connected a couple of folders (now using v2.3), some inconsistencies became apparent. A couple of folders (most likely the oldest ones) only seem to only have a single "READ-ONLY" key when looking into the "Preferences > View Key" section of BTSync. However, when hovering over them with the mouse, they are shown as "Read & Write Standard Folder". The symbol also looks plain normal without the read-only indicator inside the app as well as inside Finder (I am using OS X). So far so good. Today, I linked another device with my main computer and noticed that on this machine the connected folder is shown as read-only in the Finder view. However, it still listed as a Read & Write folder inside BTSync (with the default folder icon). It obviously it also only has a "Read-only" key, same as on my main computer. When I add files on this machine, it appears they do not get synced. As I never added this as a read-only folder or want this to be the case - how can I change it? All I found is this outdated article: but it seems you can no longer find an "Update Key" button in the folder preferences So would I have to remove this folder and re-add it (loosing connections to other machines in the process) ? Or is there another way to "upgrade" this folder to behave just like the other ones?
