  1. Hello. I have been familiar with torrent for a long time, but recently trying to migrate to resilio (due to my frustration with dropbox and the limitations). I have a Laptop (running Arch Linux) with all my data. I have set up a config file for a couple of my folders. I have posted my code below, or it's in a pastebin here. I want to sync my Music folder to my android phone. (Samsung Galaxy S7) I installed the Sync app, and entered the "secret" of the Music folder as a key in my phone, and directed it into an empty folder called Music in my sd card. After this, my phone says it sees my Laptop as a peer, but I can't see any files in the Music folder. And it says it has synced. I check my ~/Music folder on my laptop, and it is well populated. The reason I'm using the JSON config file is I am more comfortable with manual configs over a GUI. { "device_name": "SBP-Laptop" ,"use_upnp" : true ,"download_limit" : 0 ,"upload_limit" : 0 ,"webui" : { "listen" : "0.0.0.0:8888" // remove field to disable WebUI ,"login" : "SOME UNAME" ,"password" : "SOME PASSWORD" } /* !!! if you set shared folders in config file WebUI will be DISABLED !!! shared directories specified in config file override the folders previously added from WebUI. */ ,"shared_folders" : [ { // required field - use --generate-secret in command line to create new secret "secret" : "SOME SECRET" ,"dir" : "Documents" // use relay server when direct connection fails ,"use_relay_server" : true ,"use_tracker" : true ,"search_lan" : true // enable SyncArchive to store files deleted on remote devices ,"use_sync_trash" : true // restore modified files to original version, ONLY for Read-Only folders ,"overwrite_changes" : false // add folder in selective sync mode ,"selective_sync" : false // specify hosts to attempt connection without additional search ,"known_hosts" : [ "192.168.1.2:44444" ] } ,{ // required field - use --generate-secret in command line to create new secret "secret" : "SOME SECRET" ,"dir" : "Pictures" ,"use_relay_server" : true ,"use_tracker" : true ,"search_lan" : true ,"use_sync_trash" : true ,"overwrite_changes" : false ,"selective_sync" : false ,"known_hosts" : [ "192.168.1.2:44444" ] } ,{ // required field - use --generate-secret in command line to create new secret "secret" : "SOME SECRET" ,"dir" : "Music" ,"use_relay_server" : true ,"use_tracker" : true ,"search_lan" : true ,"use_sync_trash" : true ,"overwrite_changes" : false ,"selective_sync" : false ,"known_hosts" : [ "192.168.1.2:44444" ] } ,{ // required field - use --generate-secret in command line to create new secret "secret" : "SOME SECRET" ,"dir" : "Videos" ,"use_relay_server" : true ,"use_tracker" : true ,"search_lan" : true ,"use_sync_trash" : true ,"overwrite_changes" : false ,"selective_sync" : false ,"known_hosts" : [ "192.168.1.2:44444" ] } ] }

  3. Hi, Is there a way to synchronize (up & down) a folder on a shared web host server ? I can't install any exe on server side . I would like users with an identified resilio sync key , share a web public site on their own computer with resilio sync home, then they don't have to use FTP to upload or download documents, plus they can get files uploaded from the server side. I found a freeware to sync a local folder with the website with FTP.... but it's a bit tricky. Any idea ? w°w
  4. I am trying to install the latest version of btsyc on a CentOS 6.5 headless server. I cannot reach the WebUI. I configured the webui on port 65000. This is confirmed by the command line reply when I start the service: The service itself is configured to run on port 8888. When I run `lsof -Pnl +M -i4`, I get the following output: btsync 25687 500 9u IPv4 536416051 0t0 TCP *:8888 (LISTEN) btsync 25687 500 10u IPv4 536416052 0t0 UDP *:8888 btsync 25687 500 13u IPv4 536416060 0t0 UDP *:3838 Nothing else seems to be listening on 65000. I tried `netstat -tulpn` as well and the results are the same. I added a rule to iptables and `Iptables -L` returns (among others): But to make sure I tried to run it while the iptables service was completely switched off, and I still could not get any different results. The logfile sows the following: I tried to run webui on a different port, the result is the same. I also tried to bind the webui on my server's IP address instead of 0.0.0.0, same result. Any ideas? [Update] So I started this whole process again with a default config and on port 8888 and now it worked. As a recommendation for people in the future who have such an issue, try to use this command here: curl -k http://xxx.xxx.x.xxx:8888/gui -v to see if the server is running from the server's command line. It should show a quite long bunch of HTML if the server is running properly. If that works, try to amend the config file from there on
  5. Hallo, are there any limitations by syncing on raid systems? I try to sync between a Mac OS X Server and two synology nas Systems. The two nas Systems Sync very well, but the on the Mac Server don´t. The raid on the Mac Server is a Lacie Storage (raid 5) pluged in by USB Port. Are there limititations by using harddrives over USB? Trank you for informations.
  6. I have a key for a filesync folder: https://link.getsync.com/#f=Base&sz=...&v2.2 I want to share it from my laptop to my server. My server has no GUI (graphical user interface) - Ubuntu command line only. How do I sync the folder to my server without installing a graphical user interface?
  7. Hey, I want to setup a vserver with btsync 2.0 automatically with a script and no running btsync webinterface. How does the btsync config file have to look like and how can I automatically link a shared folder to this btsync instance without manually linking it in the webinterface?
  8. I use Sync 2.0 on my laptop. I want to run a headless Sync 2.0 server instance on my ubuntu vserver. Therefore I created a configuration file for my btsync instance in /etc/btsync/instance.conf. In instance.conf I can define all the shared_folders. To sync them with my laptop I have to set a secret for each directory to sync. How can I find out the secret key for this configuration parameter in the Sync 2.0 App for Mac? I can only get a weblink or an QR-Code. That does not work as a secret parameter. Any tipps?
  9. I have a OS X Lion on an older macbook pro running as a "headless" server. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with or knows of a way to run BitTorrent Sync as a daemon with a LaunchDaemon plist? How would I go about this? Would love to get some help with this and put together a tutorial about this here in the forums.
  10. Nearly every time I copy files from my work server via Afp to a folder that is being synced by BT Sync my computer crashes halfway through and then restarts my computer. My computer does not do this when BT Sync is closed before I copy the files. Is anyone else having this issue and if so is there a fix? Mackbook Pro OS X 10.10.1 BT Sync 1.4 Thanks!
  11. Hi there. I'm wondering if it's possible to have two servers (in two different locations) that are mirrored, so that you would only have to set up the folders on one of the servers, instead of having to do it on both? I realize there's probably going to be some manual work that has to be done on both servers, but it would be awesome if after that, you would only need to access one of the servers. Best regards
  12. Today we are proud to introduce to all the BitTorrent Sync community a new product we have just launched: Syncmade (https://syncmade.com). Syncmade allows you to add a cloud presence to BitTorrent Sync without the hassle of purchasing a server and configuring UNIX-based BitTorrent Sync on it. Such cloud presence will allow you to keep your files online 24/7 while at the same time boost transfer rates by adding a 1Gbps peer to your BitTorrent Sync network. Syncmade brings competitive advantages for general users by offering cloud geography, or the option to select where the files should get hosted among various companies and datacenters around the world (with adjusted pricing). Syncmade finally allows you to make sure your files stay within a certain jurisdiction or under the indirect management of a certain company. Syncmade is also great because it allows you to store only the encrypted secrets associated with your folders (either by generating some for you or by letting you input your own). This will turn the cloud space into a ‘zero-knowledge’ capacity where only you will be able to decrypt the files. Finally, Syncmade is beautiful and secure. It comes with latest SSL standards and perfect forward secrecacy principles in mind. It is built with state-of-the-art HTML5 techniques, making it Retina-ready and compatible with any device, desktop or mobile. You can take a look at Syncmade @ https://syncmade.com/ and learn more about our SaaS @ https://syncmade.com/learn We will be happy to hear any feedback you may have about our project. We have a long roadmap that already involves increasing presence in many more datacenters/with more companies throughout the world, increasing the size of our free package, decreasing the price of our cheapest one, fully developing the web-based file manager and launching several disruptive features we already have in mind. If you are deciding to give us a try, open a support ticket and tell us that you are coming from this article, we will double the virtual space you have, either it is free or paid. Best personal regards to each and everyone, Paul HUSTIN Founder of Syncmade and the Syncmade team (Maxim, Agnès, Pauline, Taty, Wayne & Steve)
  13. I am running Windows Server 2012 R2 Core on my machine. I use BitTorrent Sync to synchronize and backup my valuable Documents. But I want to add another Folder-pair, for which I need to access the System Tray since BitTorrent Sync resides there. I can install the full GUI, but i'd rather not and I want to know if there is a way to access it without Explorer. (To clarify, I have access to the Command Prompt and the Power Shell)
  14. Hey everyone, I've installed btsync on my rented server via ssh. Installation worked well, I was able to get to the GUI via IP:8888 and add a syncing folder and key. I could see the connected devices immediately, but there is no up- or download :-/ So it seems like the communication between my desktop, laptop and the server works, but no more interactions. I choose an directory on my FTP as syncing folder. When I put a file via FTP in the syncing folder, my laptop and desktop pc immediately starts to download the file. But it's not working vice-versa. I gave via chmod 777 rights to the syncing folder. So my questions are: Is there a recommended directory to put the syncing folder on a server? Do I have to set special rights to start the up- and download process? Any other ideas why it doesn't work? It's kind of strange because it seems like the devices communicate. The desktop and laptop share files perfectly. Only the server does not do anything :-/ Thankful for advices :-) Cheers, Nycolay!
  15. Greetings, all! I am new to the forum, looked at the FAQ, and tried to search for an answer to my question, in case one already exists, but may have missed the answer anyway. My situation is this: I have BitTorrent Sync installed on several machines, sync-ing several (large) directories. At least 3 of these machines are Mac laptops which change location and IP addresses "very frequently" (on the order of a couple times a day, each). At least 2 of the machines are "servers", with fixed IP addresses. The problem is that when the laptops change location it often takes "forever" for them to find their peers. I set the folder_rescan_interval to 60, but that didn't seem to help -- I had hoped it would force the machines to announce themselves and sync more frequently, but it doesn't seem to have done "anything" (except, locally, perhaps). I am wondering: Is there a way to force BitTorrent Sync to find peers and sync? (Actually, how are peers identified and is there any way I can speed that process?) Alternatively, is there any way I can tell BT Sync "look here" (there's a peer at this IP address)? Or some way I can tell BT Sync: "this machine will 'always' be on-line at this address, go ahead and sync every M minutes"? I understand that this is a peer-to-peer architecture, but I am hopeful that someone has some advice for me. (Probably, some mechanism I haven't even thought about yet). Happy to answer questions if I have left out something important. In advance, many thanks. Hope all's well, Anthony
  16. So I have sync installed on a linux server acting as a remote host for my files, but I'm having some problems with the amount of memory and CPU it's consuming. It's hosted on a DreamHost VPS, so the biggest problem is when I reach my limits they will either force upgrade my tier of hosting or reboot my server so I don't continue using over the amount I pay for. Is there a way to limit the CPU/Memory usage? Here's an excerpt from my processes USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND root 11290 109 31.1 447844 237124 ? Ssl 17:08 9:41 /BTSync/btsync As you can see, it's using over 100% of my CPU and 31% of my memory. This is usually only the case when it's indexing folders or uploading from multiple computers. But the problem is they'll end up rebooting and causing hiccups in our operation because we're unable to sync. Any ideas? I just updated sync to the latest version (1.3.94)
  17. I installed BTSync on my Ubuntu Server 12.04 install over 6 months ago. Everything was working just fine while I used it with multiple people syncing data to my server. About 2 months ago I ran a large amount of updates on my server. I believe one of these updates was for btsync as well, but I'm not 100% sure. After these updates I found that the BTSync server webpage frontend wasn't working. It asked me for my username and password but when it would load it would load a blank page, similar to just freshly installing BTSync without any shares setup. For the next month or so I thought BTSync was dead on my server, but then I started noticing syncing happening from my desktop to the server. I had a few friends who had been syncing data with my server try it on their end and it worked. Still though, the webpage front end is all blank. I'm not at a place where I need to add more shares and I'm unaware on how to do this with the current state of the webpage frontend. What steps can I take to get the webpage front end to work again? Or is there a manual way via some config files where I can create new shares?
  18. I am new to the sync world and have read amazing things about BitTorrent Sync. I am trying to sync files on a USB connected drive on my Mac to our Mac Mini Server. I do not understand what happens on the server side. I cannot answer the secret question as I am not sitting there. I can log on but what then. I would be happy with a one way sync from me to the server. Sorry to be so confused, Thanks for your help, Debbie
  19. Is it possible to have only 1 actively running bittorrent sync server set up that would sync multiple users each of whom have a different folder (and credentials) that they would have access to? I am very new to this service so I apologize if it is a very basic question.
  20. Hello, We are thinking of using the bittorent sync services to sync the asset(general small size images or libraries) files over a cluster of 20 or more servers. We just would like to know is the service capable of handling this or should we just use rsync? Thanks in advance! Cheers, Jinal
  21. First off, I tried to search for my topic by simply searching 'BSD' in the forum first and I got: "The following search terms are not allowed and were removed from your query: bsd" Weird. I installed btsync on my FreeBSD server and it all seemed to be working well at first glance. But it seems that any file or folder originally created within a sync folder *on* the FreeBSD server does not get synced to the other peers. If the other peers (Windows box, and Android phone) create files in the synced folder on their end, it replicates to the FreeBSD (and between the other peers) just fine. Why is it only going one-way seemingly?
  22. Who can help me share a file (share will remain less than 300mb). I'll return the favor by helping you with your (comparable size) share :-) (-: Thanks, got enough help to do my testing :-)
  23. Hello everyone, I recently discovered Bittorrent Sync and I want to use it to Sync Large files between many Machines I have. However, I have set up my Raspberry to run Bittorrent Sync, I have port-forwarded all the necessary ports on the Router, and I have added exceptions on IPTables to allow connections on the Ports of Bittorrent Sync. My problem is that if I try to sync files between my Laptop and my Raspberry when they are on Different Networks, the two devices don't find each other. I also tried having a one-time key but that didn't work as well. Could someone help me out here? Thanks in advance!
  24. So I understand that my files are protected from eavesdropping while in transit. I will be setting up a server to act as a central backup to which to sync my files. I have a port which is exposed to activily listen for traffic; it is an obscure port, but it is open. I was wondering if anyone who knew the IP address and the port could see the contents of the BTSync folder even without the secret?
  25. Hello, what should I install to run BitTorrent Sync on Headless (command line only, no GUI) Debian (Wheezy)? I am a little bit confused from the download selections in the download page. I have personal home PC running debian and want to have there Sync. It must work on command line only. Is there some documentation how to control Sync from command line? Thanks. urza
