  1. Hi, I don't fully understand the concept. What I want to do is sync the Download folder on an Android device to a NAS. But I found only option to make a new folder in downloads. (How can I choose the download folder itself to be synced) What Have I done, wrong? Pls. Help to understand How to proceed to achieve this. THX
  2. I setup my folder to be added to sync ("/opt/guestBook/guestsRecordings"), and after executing the sync.conf config file, noticed the .sync folder added to the folder. However, when I used the read/write secret key that I generated for the config file, there were no files available to sync to my PC (even though the source linux system had files to sync). Hoping to use this .conf file to allow folder syncing by generating a new secret key each time, as opposed to configuring this each time using the webUI. Is there something I may be missing in order to get that folder/subfolders contents to show up during sync when just using the sync.conf file from what you can see in my file? For reference, I installed Sync on linux and made sure to set all applicable folder permissions and enabled automatic startup + sync of current user folders. sync.conf
  3. Hi, I am trying out Resilio Sync I looked at the toppic: "Files deleted on desktop won't delete on Android device", as I am having the similar problem. My folders are set as "read & write" on Android -from there I started the sync, sent links to my PC, and synced. However - my folders are set as "copy only" ON my PC. And the option ON PC is greyed out - I can't change it. So - when I delete synced files on my PC - the files on the phone are not deleted. Question: can a free version Sync files or just copy from one device to the other? If yes - how can I change the option? Is there a bug at my installation of Sync? Thanks, cheers, Nika
  4. Hello, I'm having sync issues. Files become zero byte file after successfully transferring them. I cannot figure out whats happening. You can find the log file attached. syncLogZeroByte.txt
  5. Hi, Is there any possibility to use S3 as a storage for Sync Home version? I've found official documentation, how to do that for "Connect" product - Unfortunatelly, I can't find the same thing for Sync.
  6. Hi all, (Take this as a feature request should it not be possible currently.) I have a requirement to manually (programmatically) trigger folder rescans from the CLI. I currently have Sync on FreeBSD with many folders. My instance of Sync runs on a bastion host and has NFS shares back to the internal network. If the bastion host gets hacked the damage is limited to those files on the NAS. Anyway, because these are NFS shares Sync cannot detect a file creation/update/deletion and so relies solely on periodic re-scans. Further, some folders are large (100GB+, lots of files) but are seldom updated, while others are small with frequent updates, so I have tried to find a balance in the Sync-wide rescan interval. I guess I have two asks: 1) per-folder re-scan intervals and 2) the ability to trigger a re-scan of a folder through the CLI (something like rslsync --folder x --rescan) Because the NAS can be set up to act on file changes, I could get the NAS to trigger a re-scan, essentially mimicking the behaviour on local filesystems. Thanks, Scott
  7. I'm looking for a working solution for a current use case that I have. I run Risilio Sync between two remote locations keeping six various directories in sync. This works very well for the normal amount of files that are added/modified on a regular basis. Every few months there will be a large amount of new files or modifications to files (~1TB) that will originate in one directory or another. Due to the limitations of the WAN speed, this sync could take weeks or months, long enough that the sync wouldn't complete before having another large file dump to sync. Is it possible to copy the directory from the source machine to an external drive and use rsync (linux rsync not Risilio Sync) on the destination directory to add/replace the folders and files in the destination directory, and then resume Risilio Sync operations to keep the directories in sync after that? I will say that I've attempted this procedure a couple of times now, but I fear that I've been copying files that perhaps I shouldn't be to the external drive, like the .sync directory. Perhaps there is an order of operations that would allow this to work successfully. I'm just curious if anyone has tried something like this with any success. Pulling the storage server from Site A to visit Site B for a couple of days for a local sync is hard on the back as it's quite heavy. Thanks in advance for any helpful information.
  8. I've used Sync between 5 Macs running Mojave and older, successfully, for a while. Just updated one to BigSur, and it won't receive some files. Mojave computer (with files) shows BigSur peer connected, shows a green tick, but clicking on peer list shows "^ 1008 files to [BigSur]. They are all tiny text files, .plist, .json, 40kB and under. BigSur computer (needs files) shows Mojave peer connected, shows a green tick, peer list shows "Synced with [Mojave]". But the folder has 1000s of missing files. Same thing happens with other folders, including those with big files, .pdfs. Other folders seem to work fine. Are there known bugs with Big Sur? What can I do to troubleshoot this?
  9. I would like to know how I can have a folder with files on my desktop sync to my laptop with Resilio installed on MyCloud EX2 Ultra NAS. So when I save a file on either devices it updates the file on the other device as well. Thank you
  10. Hello all, For some reason, some newly added files/folders and a few modified ones are not syncing to my Netgear NAS. I keep seeing messages of "failed to download." These files aren't being used at the time of syncing either. I am doing a one-way read only mirror to my NAS. I can force Sync to rescan the folders by manually removing and re-adding them on the Sync application, but this is just a hassle to constantly do this. What are some possible cause and ways to resolve this issue. I am running Windows and the NAS is in a different location on a different network.
  11. In the marketing of BitTorrent Sync, I detect a shyness away from the cloud, but if Sync is as secure as it claims, utilizing the cloud with Sync shouldn't be a security issue and should provide extra benefits. Enter rainstash, an open source Amazon CloudFormation template to deploy an instance of the latest version of Sync in the Amazon cloud with very little effort. With security in mind, only necessary network services are made available, web traffic is forced to be https (though the self signed certificate doesn't validate, but that's expected), and a separate disk volume that is encrypted with cryptsetup is used to store Sync data. The upsides? Deploy one instance in the east region and one in the west region for better redundancy, or better yet, deploy five in each and two in Ireland! (I don't know why Ireland, the point is, it's easy to do!) The downsides? It still costs to run an Amazon instance, and the cheapest currently - t2.micro - plus data transfer costs is still around $10 to $15 per month per instance running 24/7 for an average use case. Please feel free to provide questions, comments, and improvements!
  12. Two UNRAID servers on the same network (LAN). 192.168.1.*** Sync running as docker containers each on its own machine. I can get them to connect via a Relay server but the speeds are abysmal. I have 2 GBit here and need to mirror one server to the other. No matter what port I open or forward I cannot get these two to "see" each other. Both servers are working and have access to the network no problem. But, Sync without using a relay will not work. I really do not want to use a relay as it will take years to copy 25+ Terabytes. Does anyone have a working pfsense/unraid config that they can share? Or help? I looked at the and nothing there is helping.
  13. As some may know, I'm developing a system (based on the Sync API) to distribute mp4 video files over computers inside a few schools. As BitTorrent's clients have a feature to allow playing video while still downloading (known as "streaming"), are there any plans to have this feature on Sync?
  14. It would be nice if btsync would be able to copy the symbolic and hardlinks as they are, and not just as a normal file as it does now. If the source and the target of the links are in same share, then create the same link structure on all synced computers (or at least on desktop OS). If not, then do as now, sync as a normal file.
  15. Hi, I used to use this great product on my android tablet seamlessly, but since the time I moved to ipad I started to have a major problem. I had a folder full of pdf on my android tablet and as soon as I annotated and commented on a pdf file on my tablet, I had the same changes in my pdf file on pc. Now I can still sync between ipad and pc but the problem is that when I open your app on ipad and open a pdf file from inside your app and comment on it, my comments do not save on the same file. Instead some other numbered copies are added to my acrobat reader on ipad. This is a major problem for me. Please help me. How can I sync my pdf files without using cloud storage between ipad and pc? Lots of thanks in advance for your kind helping hand. Best.
  16. Hi all, I'm running resilio on a headless Debian system which act as a seed for another machine. The sync worked fine for a period, but now it fails to sync some files. Looking at the logs I see errors like the following: TF[AB6C] [0x00007fe01df91310][<PATH_TO_FILE>]: state:SEED error: meta:1 conns:1 io:0 Moreover, new files added to the same folder are not synced. I checked with lsof and only resilio is accessing such files. If it my be relevant, the folder is on a encrypted raid5 ext4 volume. Thanks
  17. Hi guys! I tryed to update Btsync to resilio, on my phone everything was fine. But my desktops sytem is Debian Jessie, the resilio is not worikng. Here is the manual The program is running, but I can not sync. I try to create a new share, I have to add a full permission for the folder, (drwxrwxrwx ) this is looks very bad... I stopped here because until now the btsync program worked without this. After the installation, I tried check the process this is my superuser. 18. I'm looking at Resilio as a solution for a peculiar problem I'm trying to solve. It boils down to two main points: 1. My data is stored on several devices AND/OR external USB drives. I need to sync not only devices, but HDDs and USB drives. Ideally, it shouldn't matter which of my devices i plug the drives into, for a proper synchronization to happen. 2. My data size is larger than any of the individual devices and drives - they need to be populated in a clever manner, to ensure that data is stored at least on 2 different devices/drives. Ideally, I'd like to be able to know which storage devices a particular file is on, if it's not immediately available, and maybe be warned if a particular newly added file hasn't had time to be distributed into the storage and still exists in only one copy. So... Does Resilio offer such features? Or can they somehow be scripted in, as I see there's some automation possible..?
  19. We have a copy of v2.5.12 (1191) that keeps crashing on one of our machines. It will stop responding when opening, and crash when attempting to start. Sometimes it will appear to be uploading, then changing to view the history or devices will cause the crash message. I have a dump file but it is too large to attach to this post... how can I get this log examined so we can get to a solution?
  20. I just performed a sync using BitTorrent Sync v1.4.110. I am 100% certain BitTorrent Sync overwrote newer files with older files. I don't have any idea why it would do this, except for a serious bug. The file dates and file contents clearly show that new files were overwitten by old versions. I had performed a backup of some of the data before enabling the sync, and the backup confirms the problem. A little more detail: I had previously used BitTorrent Sync on these folders using 1.4.9x. Only 2 computers are using BTSync and they run the Windows 64-bit version. They are on the same wireless network. Relay and tracker servers are turned off for each sync folder. I hadn't run BTSync in over a month. I upgraded BTSync to v1.4.110 on both computers. As part of the BTSync upgrade on System #1 (which had many new files), I selected the option to run BTSync after the program version upgrade. Once it was upgraded and loaded, I ran BTSync on System #2 (which I had already upgraded to the latest version). It than began to sync. Everything looked fine and appeared to run smoothly. But when I checked the files, in many cases, old versions overwote the new versions. I now have to sift through thousands of files to determine the damage BTSync caused and try to rectify as much of the damage as possible. UPDATE: I just had a full-time computer programmer verify all the above facts, and he concluded there is a serious problem with BitTorrent Sync, and that it definitely overwrote NEWER files with OLDER ones in multiple cases. This seems to be a huge problem.
  21. I have two repeatable issues where Sync seems to think it should be copying files or touching files when it doesn't seem to need to... or maybe is should just be waiting a couple seconds to allow other tasks to finish before it tries to jump in. 1) If I copy files into a synced folder (for example adding a new folder of songs to an mp3 folder that syncs across computers in my house) as it is copying, sync will complain one by one that the files are locked by another program. I even put sync in "pause" and sync still continued to complain the files were locked even though it wasn't actually syncing anything at that time. Shouldn't pause actually stop sync from indexing or doing anything? 2) At work I have a synced folder on my work laptop (syncs back to the home computer) that I save a new document file into almost every day. Every time I save into that folder Sync complains that the file is locked by another program. That laptop is not connected to the internet most of the time I'm working on the file, so it can't sync anything at that time but it still complains. I understand it might be indexing the files in the folder, but why does it care if the file is locked since it can't do any syncing at that moment? Both of the times, Sync reports that the file being copied or being saved is locked by another program. It is quite annoying and Windows 10 notification panel gets hit with a report for the locked file(s). I'm not sure why sync is immediately acting on the files while another program is working on saving or copying into the synced folder. Perhaps it could just wait a little bit before acting on the new file(s). Or maybe sync doesn't need to complain about the files as the files will sync just fine once the files are finished being copied or the files is saved. Is there a way to turn off or not get notified about this? Thanks!
  22. I've installed resilio sync on a couple new devices and I'm seeing inconsistent and incorrect behavior. Each of the last four machines I set to Disconnect state when initializing them, but as soon as I committed the setting, resilio sync started downloading all shares, and not selective. This causes a massive disruption, as the system then slows down so much that it takes forever for me to change each of the 40 shares back to disconnected and delete all the accidental share additions. Is anyone else experiencing something similar? Any ideas on how to fix this?
  23. I have current version of Sync running on a Feral seedbox and on my home NAS (Asustor) through a R7000 router. Speeds will transfer in the neighborhood of 250 KB/s until I restart the Sync app on my NAS. Then I get 4-5 MB/s no problems, for a while, (not sure how long though.) I have tried to give the local address for the NAS priority "quality of service" on the router but have seen no improvement. Charter is my carrier, and I am not aware of them throttling, and the fact that it goes at faster speeds upon restarts makes me think it's not Charter... What do you think I can do to maintain the normal faster speeds? (Happy to give more details to try to troubleshoot this!) Thanks for any help, J
  24. I have a Seedboxes account with Resilio Sync setup. I Resilio to sync files between my seedbox and a computer. Let's say I have 100 files in the seedbox that is setup to sync, then Resilio Sync will start to download maybe 20 of those files at the same time to my local computer. For me that is inconvenient because I will have to wait for 20 files to finish before I can open one of them on my local computer. So basically what I am asking is, is it possible to make Resilio Sync download one file at at time instead of downloading multiple files at the same time?
  25. Hey there everyone, I've tried playing around with Sync Home (free) to synchronize my music folder on my PC to my phone. Previously, I have synced my music through MusicBee but it's getting very tedious with how long it takes and how regularly it fails. However, my attempts at syncing haven't allowed me to specify where on my Android phone I'd like to sync to, and sets to the default (/storage/emulated/0/Download/Sync/MP3). I have a 200GB SD card for this very purpose and want to make use of it, as my phone storage isn't big enough for all of my music. Is this a limitation of the free version, and if so, which version do I need to buy to get around it? Or am I just missing something altogether? Thanks for any help or feedback!
