  1. Hi, Having been using the program for several years now, in the last 6 months or so I keep seeing this error which I think also affects the sync process from working as well. The thing is, the "time difference", from what I can see there is only mention of if it's outside of a 10-minute limit or something that it should come up. However, the time difference in question here is CORRECTLY several hours, as the syncing is between computers in different parts of the world. As this was never a problem before I am now not sure whether you have an 'added' limitation maybe, or if this is completely user-side and perhaps the fault of the system reporting the error rather than with the sync software at all? Any help with this would be much appreciated as it currently makes the software less reliable than I believe it should be.
  2. I'm quite impressed with the app but I have one large issue that needs to be resolved. When files are synced, the source file creation and modification dates are not being synced correctly. The source file's creation date becomes the destination file's modification date and the destination file's creation date/time becomes the date/time of the transfer. This is not correct behavior and it is very misleading and confusing when trying to compare file versions, especially on things like photo files. I shouldn't have to dig into the metadata under the file's properties/info tab to see when a picture was taken. I have used and loved a program called AllwaySync for years because it always transfers all file attributes correctly when Windows Explorer and many other programs do not. Please fix! Thanks
  3. I installed the BT Sync Drobo App on my Drobo 5N and allowed it time to synchronize. The next time I logged in it told me the clock differed by more than 10 minutes from its peers. I checked all the clocks and they were all the same. However, two peers were using GMT and the Drobo used PDT. (I checked the Drobo by installing Dropbear and SSH-ing in. I'm in EDT BTW.) Apparently there's no way to tell the Drobo which time zone to use. Theoretically, these are all UNIX machines and everybody measures time in seconds since the epoch so there shouldn't be a problem, but I'm assuming since BT Sync runs on a PC it has to play to the lowest common denominator. The only way I could think of fixing this was to add tz="GMT" export TZ="${tz}" to DroboApps/BitTorrent_Sync/service.sh This seems to have worked, in that I stopped getting the message, but I did have two corrupt databases as a result. After disconnecting and connecting one of them it seems to be fine. (I still have to do the other.) Ideally I would have done this before connecting to my peers. If anyone else has any better ideas please let me know. Michael
  4. It´s possible with sync or any other tool to define a time for sync? I need to only sync on night times. Thanks
  5. Hello, Granted, I'm a new user of Sync, but I had a question about timestamps that I haven't seen addressed. I have two computers both running Windows 7 x64 - a desktop and a laptop. I want to sync several folders of documents from the desktop to the laptop. However, when the files/folders are received on the laptop, they are created with the current date and time. It would much more usable to me if the files/folders created maintained the same date and time as are on the desktop. Is it possible to do this? I did not notice any obvious setting in preferences. Thank you! Kenneth
  6. Hello all, As I am currently under the impression that this is not a current feature (as opposed to being a bug), I request that one have the option to preserve timestamps. This is important for several reasons: 1. I use it for sorting items in folders based on timestamps regularly. 2. (I believe) that synchronization and clobbering is chosen based on newest timestamp. Though even if BTSync doesn't use it, other programs (e.g. Filezilla) do. 3. I am attempting to sync >100,000 files > 50 GB, and for some reason, even when both computers are behind the same router, the transfer rate drops to ~100 KB/s (starts around 800 KB/s), leading me to believe that the transfer is going beyond the router (smells like the usual ISP throttling...). For this reason and the timestamp issue, I will first use Filezilla to perform the initial copy (which does preserves timestamps), then use BTSync to keep them synchronized. Of course, I would prefer to use only one program, but for free software, one can only ask for so much... In case this is actually a bug, my info is: Computer 1: Windows 7 Pro x64, BTSync 1.3.105Computer 2: Windows 7 Pro x64, BTSync 1.3.105Repost from here.
  7. Hi! One of the reasons I use BitTorrent Sync is synchronizing of games' saves between different computers. The problem is that some games perform saving very often, so. because of real time synchronization BitTorrent Sync is always busy with synchronizing of that files. Is it possible to switch off real time synchronization and use periodical one instead? There is an option "folder_rescan_interval" in Additional settings, but it seems that it does not influence the real time synchronization, it just performs folder rescan every 10 minutes by default.
