  1. Hey guys, I'm currently on version 2.5.13 (1301) and got auto-update off. When I search for updates manually it finds version 2.6. Whenever I try to install it, this message appears: "The update of Resilio Sync failed. Error: The requested process cannot be completed because the specified process is not a GUI process." I tried multiple times and this always happens. Does anybody know how to fix it? Thanks, David
  2. I want to update Resilio Sync from version 2.4.5-1 to 2.5.6-1 on synology DS415+ with DSM 6.1.2-15132 . Already dowloaded the right package (resiliosync_avoton_2.5.6-1.spk) What is the best way? Deinstall the old version or just installing over?
  3. Hi All, I am curious if anyone upgraded his Synology to DSM 6.1-15047 already, what version of Resilio you are running and if it still functions. I am running a DS414+ with Bittorent Sync v2.3.8.1
  4. I have installed on my Raspberry Pi 2 Btsync version 2.0.93, it is set to automatically check for updates on the preferences panel, but as far as I can tell it never did update. Is there any automated process to update BtSync or do I need to remove it and install the latest version of Resilio Sync? Thanks
  5. Hey, Just updated thanks to the auto update from 2.4.1 to 2.4.4. When opened, it says "no folders". If I try to open a folder from the old sync config, it says " this folder is yet managed by another instance of BTSync. Reset the rights ? " What should I do ? I don't want to recreate syncs on all devices. Thank you
  6. Wouldn't it be nice to allow remote update of Sync to latest version? Sometimes we share folders with people who don't have enough knowledge to check each and every way to update their numerous software on their computer but need to cooperate with theirs colleagues by sharing files. Some other software (e.g. Teamviewer) allows to get control of their computer to do this update/upgrade but it is a bit cumbersome. The same software (Teamviewer) allows for its part to be updated on a remote computer, straight from the local computer. Couldn't it be that Sync do the same?
  7. So I am running bittorrent sync on my raspberry pi with raspbian and I am currently connecting to it via SSH. What I am having problem with is how to update bittorrent sync in the terminal. Does anyone know how to do that? Also is it possible to make it auto update?
  8. Hi everyone, I have updated all my computer/devices to Sync 2.0 But the folder that is being synced has a 1.4 label in the icon, is there any way I can update this folder to 2.0 without having to go through all the hassle with new keys and such? Thanks in advance!
  9. Does anyone know of a way to disable the auto-update feature via api, I know how to change most other settings but haven't found a variable for this yet. I have had issues with the auto-update in the past and know that when I have the GUI turned off I don't have to worry about it prompting users so that is my work around for now. Thanks in advance. I have looked around but have not been able to find anything thus far, so I apologize if the answer is already out there.
  10. Hi all, I installed the 1.4.93 build manually on Linux following this tutorial (so not using the synocommunity package) and would like to upgrade to the 1.4.99 build, but what steps / commands do I need to follow? I did not find an "update guide"? Thanks for helping this n00b ;-)

  12. Hello, after considerable testing (cross platform between Windows, Mac OSX and Linux versions) I think I have found a quite annoying bug. Situation: 3 machines sharing files with a Read Only key, source is a Mac OSX machine. Symptom: An updated file refuses to sync, stays in the list. File size has changed, file date has changed, still no sync. Changing to a Full Access key on the same directory, without starting all over again, solves the problem - the updated file in the source is being synced to the target(s). So, it seems that 'Read Only' applies to both sides for updated files. First-time/new files sync OK. We have tested this from MacOSX to Windows/Linux AND the same bug appears when syncing from Windows to MacOSX (Linux not tested). FWIW: all versions are 1.3.106 This is consistent behavior, so it seems to be a real bug. We'd like to hear from you all! Grtz, R&B
  13. Hi, I've been using btsync for months, with no problems. This is an awesome program, and I thank the developers very much for making my life easier. My main system is a laptop, 64 bit Intel, running Linux Mint 64 bit KDE, Linux uber 3.11.0-12-generic #19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I've had btsync installed via the PPA at tuxpoldo/btsync Everything has been working fine, without a hitch. This program makes me smile all the time :-) Today I had an upgrade notice in my upgrade manager, for btsync-common. I clicked "ok", and the regular update procedure ensued. As usual for updates of btsync, the icon on my panel disappeared. After an update, btsync usually needs to be restarted, which I did from the console. My usual command to do this is: btsync start or btsync restart This time it did not run, and did not return any messages to the console. Closer examination revealed that btsync-user was no longer installed. When I tried to install it with apt-get, I got the message: The following packages have unmet dependencies: btsync-user : Depends: btsync-common but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I tried "apt-get -f update" and got the same result. I uninstalled all btsync packages and tried to re-install, but got this message: The following packages have unmet dependencies: btsync-common : Breaks: btsync-user (<= 1.15.0-1) but 1.15.0-1 is to be installed btsync-gui-gtk : Breaks: btsync-user but 1.15.0-1 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. It seems the update is broken. If I can provide any further information to help with resolution, please let me know. If you think the problem might be on my end (although I doubt this is the case), I will VERY much appreciate any tips to help me get this going again. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the next update. Thanks.
  14. Hi, some time ago I’ve set up a dedicated ubuntu linux VM for btsync 1.2.82. It’s running behind a firewall, I only opened outgoing port 3000 udp and from the beginning it worked like charm. It takes about 2 seconds to connect new peers and the sync starts. Now I did an update to 1.3.94 by switching the btsync executable, I left everything else as it was but now the peers won’t connect anymore. I already compared the sample config from 1.3.94 with my running config but it doesn’t seem as if there were many changes in the structure of the config file from 1.2x to 1.3x I restored my VM from backup and everything is working again. Somebody got an idea how to update without breaking everything? Regards, Michael

  16. I'm thinking of using BitTorrent Sync to receive sensitive data from clients & distribute sensitive reports. One concern I have is that there seem to be a lot of updates to BitTorrent Sync, and automatic updating does not work. Most of the time I end up going to the BitTorrent Sync web site to download the latest version. I'm using Windows 7, 64-bit. Am I doing something wrong? My clients are not sophisticated computer users, and they're busy taking care of patients, and I don't want them getting messages saying there's a new version of BitTorrent Sync every week that they need to install. Yet, if I tell them to uncheck the Preferences box for "Check for updates automatically," most of them would never update the software again and I'm assuming that at some point that would become a problem. Any ideas?
  17. Hi there, I want to update form the early Windows SyncApp 1.0.95 to the recent BTSync 1.0.134 How can i re-use the settings of the synced directories from SyncApp, so that i don't have to renew the secret codes and other settings. Looking forward to any reply Postme
  18. In one of the computers I use to sync files I am having a problem to auto-update BTSync, since and are filtered. Therefore, it can't auto-update itself. Instead of auto-updating I updated the program manually, but..., how unhappy I was when I realized that of the configuration went away when I did so, and I had to manually re-add everything I had synced. I suggest you two solutions to overcome this issue: - Let the manual update check in there is a current installation, and if so, just update, instead of overwritting everything. - Use BTSync protocol to auto-update, and don't just check the domain. And thank you for the program!
