  1. hi How might one get Sync to write synched files with file permissions different from the defalt (755) to (775)? Here is context. I'm synching well, however when I use my Filezilla client to delete a file synched by Sync i don't have permissions My 'fix' is to add my user to the group btsync, however permissions aren't write for group, so my user can't delete files. (would this work? i think so but I'm a bit of a noob) or during configuration can i make btsync user my username to write ? Cheers, Geoff.
  2. I have been using BTSync for a while and still have some old folders from the v1.2/v1.4 beta time (or whatever the version was in the beginning) in case this could be relevant or help troubleshooting my issue. I never noticed any problems with my folders, but since I recently linked my devices and connected a couple of folders (now using v2.3), some inconsistencies became apparent. A couple of folders (most likely the oldest ones) only seem to only have a single "READ-ONLY" key when looking into the "Preferences > View Key" section of BTSync. However, when hovering over them with the mouse, they are shown as "Read & Write Standard Folder". The symbol also looks plain normal without the read-only indicator inside the app as well as inside Finder (I am using OS X). So far so good. Today, I linked another device with my main computer and noticed that on this machine the connected folder is shown as read-only in the Finder view. However, it still listed as a Read & Write folder inside BTSync (with the default folder icon). It obviously it also only has a "Read-only" key, same as on my main computer. When I add files on this machine, it appears they do not get synced. As I never added this as a read-only folder or want this to be the case - how can I change it? All I found is this outdated article: http://sync-help.bittorrent.com/customer/portal/articles/1627229-guide-to-ui-folder-preferences- but it seems you can no longer find an "Update Key" button in the folder preferences So would I have to remove this folder and re-add it (loosing connections to other machines in the process) ? Or is there another way to "upgrade" this folder to behave just like the other ones?
  3. Hello, I have the pro version of Bittorrent Sync and I guess to have found a bug. I have two installations, one with my own identity and another with a test identity. Now the test: 1) Create a folder with some data to sync on the personal identity 2) Share the folder with the Android Device with the test identity and choose "Read Only" 3) Connect to the folder with the test identity 4) First, the granted permissions suddenly change to Read/Write and second, they are only changeable to Owner and Read/Write but not to Read only This can be reproduced at least on my fresh installation (the 3rd installation at least, due to other problems and no reaction from the BT-Team: What do I pay for? They say support within 24 hours!!). The rights can not be changed from neither of my 3 devices to read only for the test identity. On the other hand: If I share the folder from my laptop, the permissions can be changed in all variations and the seem to work.
  4. I am currently running Android 5 Lollipop with Sync 2.0.83.0 installed. I am trying to point Sync's default save location to my Music folder on my SD card. However, I keep getting an error stating "Android OS restricts write access to this directory" wherever I try and create a folder or select a folder on my SD card. I thought this restriction had been removed in Lollipop so apps can write to their own created folders on SD cards? I can grant write access to other apps, such as file explorer apps which I can copy and move files with to the SD card with no issues. I really need to be able to sync to my SD card as I have many GBs of music I want to store there. Does anyone have a fix after having similar problems?
  5. Hi there. I'm looking into BTsync and how it could fit in our movie pipeline. We would use it for syncing material from on-set to our facility and to our SAN via a server with Xsan and fibre access to SAN. The issue here is that the DIT will have to delete files from his/hers local storage every now and then. I don't want to sync those deletions but i do want to sync everything he/she adds to shared folders. We would have the same setup when it comes to VFX. We would need some extra control over what they locally deletes that ripples through to our side. Cheers and thanks.
  6. Whenever I add a new folder to the web gui (linked to Synology NAS) it's added as Read & Write only. So when I subsequently link the destination folder, this only accepts the Read & Write key. How do I add folders as Read Only, so if I edit the info in the destination it does not edit the NAS source. Thanks a lot.
  7. 1) Why on android version of BitTorrentSYNC I could see how many devices are connected to my sync but not the name of that devices? 2)Why I can not create a sync with read+write permission but only a read-only one or sync in read+write a folder created outside android version? 3) should be nice have also an history log. 4)even with this limitations I think (IMHO) that this project is mature and the word "beta" is no more usefull ;-) Can someone tell me how\why\when the first 2 limitation will be broken? Thanks you a lot...
