XP x64 support

Recommended Posts

"Given that Microsoft themselves will cease support for XP in April 2014, it's probably time to consider upgrading anyway!"

Oh please. F_ck that. I will be running some systems on XP64 for many years to come.

By the way, it installed and seemed to function just fine on XP Pro x64 Edition.

Sad you don't support it.

I did notice that suddenly randomly BTS has lost its folder data on an XP x64 machine, but I doubt that the OS is at fault here, because it happened on a Win7 laptop as well.

And why should we care, exactly?

The code we use is dependent on functions included in SP3 and newer. We are NOT going to be providing support for XP SP2 or older, and that includes XP 64-bit.

YOU may be using XP64 for many years to come, but a big chunk of the rest of the world has already moved on.

Harold,

You've fallen into the trap that a lot of people do.

XP64 is identical to Windows 2003, Like Windows 2003 it doesn't NEED a SP3 to be the same as XP SP3 because all the changes from XP SP3 are included in windows 2003 SP2.

Not supporting XP i86 SP2 is not a good reason for not supporting XP x64 SP2.

In fact supporting XP i86 SP3 is a good reason to support XP x64 SP2 as well.

I also note that Windows 2003 is on extended support for a year longer than XP32 so XP64 will continue to get security patches well after XP32; but they'll probably have to be installed manually.
