efficacy
Just adding my own experiences with this. I set it up to back up ~46GB of photos and videos from my Windows XP PC to a D-Link DNS-320 NAS box on my local network. At first everything was great - good transfer speeds and clear indication of what was going on. After about 6GB though, btsync just seemed to get bored with the whole business and just stopped transferring. I have found that killing and restarting the btsync process on the NAS wakes things up for another few minutes, but it inevitably seems to stop again soon.I hope this can be fixed soon. At the moment, with all this manual intervention, I don't feel that I can trust btsync as a backup solution
kos13
Guys, please, please and again please send us logs. Here are the steps Having logs will shorten time for the fix significantly. Otherwise I can't tell you anything, besides we are working on the issue and this looks like an issue.
sergey@bt
Please include into your report full debug log from both machines, since error could happen either on sending or receiving side.

That thing only has 128MB.It *should* be enough, but depending on what else is happening it might not.
efficacy
Hmm. Thanks for that suggestion. I hadn't thought about RAM.It looks like btsync is using over half the RAM, but it's hard to tell if that is causing problems. efficacy
And another data point.Windows decided that the XP box needed an update, so I did that and rebooted. When the system came up it automatically restarted btsync, which quickly completed the problematic SANY0077.MP4 file and is now (fingers-crossed) chugging away at 1.5-2MB/s transfer.I'll see how far it gets this time. joeyoung25
I also have noticed this problem, but with no error messages that I know of. I watch the sync log closely and nothing jumps out. I am the system administrator for a small business and (at my location) our data is just windows share so I have it backed up to Freenas nightly, and use bittorrent sync to transfer all the data to my house on a ubuntu server. Everything works great until I get to somehwere between 2 and 6 gbs of data(119GB total size). I get good transfer rates to my home server at almost 2MB/s. Does anyone have any more troubleshooting for this? any tips would be helpful. are there any other useful logs that I can look at?
sergey@bt
First of all, enable debug log on both ends. Then you should be able to check if your home server is trying to download anything from your office machine. Probably it's stuck at some particular file. Alternatively you may submit debug logs to us for analysis. Please follow instructions at
7UpMan
I had a similar problem. One machine was Linux the other Windows and it would get stuck at 70Mb left out of 50Gb. I tracked this down (file names in the Windows "sync.log" file) to me having files with the same name but differing case e.g. "DSC10.jpg" and "DSC10.JPG" in the same directory. Unix doesn't care about this but windows does. I resolved the naming problem and everything was fine.
