switch from full access to read-only secret

what would be the preferred way of switching a synched folder from full access to read-only ?

It's sadly not currently as easy as it should be - you essentially have to remove and then re-add the folder again using the read-only secret:

1) Copy the folder's read-only secret

2) Remove the folder from Sync

3) Add the folder back to Sync using the read-only secret you previously copied

At this point, the read-only side is going to re-index the previously synched files ?

Yes, files will be re-indexed. But indexing will start only when read-only machine will receive metadata (list of files) from other machine.

Ha! Well, if you want to make it that complicated(!)

I was assuming you wanted to change a folder from a RW to a RO secret on the same device - this can be done without needing to go back to the "source device", as if a folder has a RW secret to begin with, you can copy its corresponding RO secret from the folder preferences dialog itself - no need to have to get the RO from another device!

Yes, a re-index will always happen when you add a folder to Sync, even if it's been previously been indexed if it's been in Sync before. However, as long as the contents of the folder haven't changed, it won't have to transfer all your files/folders again!
