Clarification on "one time secret"

Recommended Posts

So, if I were to give a friend a one time secret, read only key, does that mean that once they have synced the files in the folder, the connection/sync is done? Or would any changes I make in that folder propagate to their computer?

If that's the case, I'd like to suggest a read only / one time sync type secret wherein once the files are synced, the connection is terminated.

Thanks!

No, once your friend has entered the one-time secret, they will continue to have access to that folder until such time as you remove the folder from Sync or change its Secret

If that's the case, I'd like to suggest a read only / one time sync type secret wherein once the files are synced, the connection is terminated.

The easiest solution is to just change the folder's Secret once it has been sync'd, thus terminating your friend's connection

And I'd do this by going to the folder's preferences and generating a new full access secret, yes?

This can be a painful process if there are dozens or maybe hundreds of peers. I know this is not the wishlist, I'm just saying. Instead of hard to implement peer management, nested shares could solve this if there would be cross-seeding.

It's in the wishlist.
