Error messages in sync.log - meaning??

Recommended Posts

Hello:

Currently using btsync 1.1.48 to sync two servers. excellent piece of software. seems to be working fine, but..

in the sync.log file i see multiple examples of read failures as in this clip:

[2013-07-31 22:37:35] ReadFile error: me2-iplog1.txt:0:21137:21137:3

[2013-07-31 23:01:37] ReadFile error: me-item2-sessions.txt:0:170:170:3

[2013-07-31 23:01:37] ReadFile error: session-records.txt:0:12052:12052:3

[2013-07-31 23:01:37] ReadFile error: me2-iplog2.txt:0:12738:12738:3

[2013-08-01 00:01:43] ReadFile error: arf-home-sessions.txt:0:923:923:3

these files are all contained within various websites - and a frequently opened/updated/closed by apache/php.

can someone throw light on what, if anything, is going wrong here.

syncing seems to be working but i am concerned about error messages on live servers!

any help is appreciated.

environment: windows svr2003.

thank you.

tim ecott.

It's likely that Sync is unable to open/read these files when they are in use/locked/being written to by Apache.

Given that these would appear to be just log files, the question to ask yourself is, do you actually really need to sync these between devices? If not, it's worth consider excluding them from being synced through the use of .SyncIgnore

I got similar Messages in the windows log of my btsync 1.1.48, which syncs with a linux system and a mac:

[2013-08-20 20:56:17] Error: 20100102-133406-p1080098_btsync.jpg - Files missing from job. Please recheck.

[2013-08-20 20:56:17] Error: 20100102-133406-p1080098_btsync.jpg - ReadFromDisk: Element nicht gefunden.

The File "20100102-133406-p1080098_btsync.jpg" is on my windows harddisk and I can open just as normal with explorer or any other program, i.e. xnview.

The messages exist for days now and I reboot my Computer every day, so the file cannot be locked by some other process.

(Actually, it is/was the image file, which I used for my avatar here on the forum, so it don't think, its locked anymore by i.e. firefox browser which uploaded the image...)

Any ideas on HOW to get rid of those messages? and, furthermore, WHY they come up or how this can happen?

Another thing would be, that it would be useful to see the whole path of the file, not just the filename. I'll put this on the wishlist :)

Note down the folder's current secret, remove the folder from Sync, and then re-add it back using the previous secret. This will force Sync to re-index the folder.

It's possible that the previous index of the folder is corrupt
