SyncEncryptHandler: bad message length (STATE_BEGIN)

Recommended Posts

I got many "SyncEncryptHandler: bad message length (STATE_BEGIN)" on a lubuntu desktop computer.

I have the latest btsync 1.1.48 and only one folder shared.

What does this error mean ? Should I worry about it ?

Dantounet,

Could you please elaborate which issue do you have on 1.3.80? Bad share ID or bad message len?

I still have the bad ShareID (STATE_BEGIN) error message, and I am not sure why. I am running on 1.3.87 on Windows.

@gregcaulder,

"bad shareID" is not something critical. It just means that remote peer asked for share which local peer has no idea of. Usually it happens if local peer hasn't finished loading folder list yet OR - if you removed a folder on local peer and other peers still asking for data from it.

Would it be possible to add something in the logs that say this in a innocuous message and can be disregarded ?

The purpose of the logs is primarily to allow support/devs to troubleshoot issues when they arise - as such, they're not designed to be overly "pretty" or contain detailed "human friendly" explanations as to the meaning of each entry for the benefit of end-users - they're designed to be as concise as possible and contain relevant information for the benefit of technicians to allow them to diagnose problems.
