BitTorrent Sync running but Web UI is empty!

Hi.

Following the instructions from these forums, I managed to install theBitTorrent Sync in my WD My Book Live.

Initially everything was running fine and the Web UI would show the folders being synched and any ongoing activity.

Recently however, although the synchronization process is running, when I open the Web UI it is empty.

I mean, no folders are displayed. Also, if I try to add a new folder, the "browse folder" button does not work.

I found some instructions in the forums for having BitTorrent Sync automatically start with the NAS server and tried to apply them (these ones), but that didn't work.

I'm wondering if I messed up something while trying to do that or when manually executing it after restarting the NAS.

Do you have any idea of what may be happening?

Why does the Web UI page open, but does not display any of my folders?

Now I can't manage the folders being synched.

Thanks a lot.

Hi.

My laptop is Windows 7, 64 bits and I'm using IE 10.

The NAS OS seems to be PowerPC (ppc).

To be honest I got that information from one of the forums here.

I could't find the command to check the actual OS and version when in the Linux prompt.

  This used to work fine.

It stopped working after I had to manually restart BitTorrent a couple of times after restarting the NAS and a power failure.

Thanks

In case someone looks at this post, I've noticed the following errors on the sync.log file:

Can this be the cause of the WebUI not working properly?

Well, the first time I installed BitTorrent sync in the NAS I may have exeecuted it from different locations.

I mean, the executable file was in only one place, but I called it from a different location by using the full path to it.

Since I then started having problems with the WebUI and trying to create a startup script for it (I found it in one of the forums here), I decided to try and remove it completely to try and install it again. I know Linux is not like Windows in this regard, so I removed btsync and its sub-folders manually and also the startup script I was trying to use. I was hoping this would "clean" things up.

Yesterday I tried to install it again and on the first run WebUI was still not working and the log file listed the errors I mentioned before.

I'm starting to think I will never be able to get btsync working properly again. :(

Problem is now solved.

It turns out the reason the WebUi was not working had to do with the UPnP errors listed in the log file.

The moment that was fixed the WebUI started working as before.

I'm not sure exactly what fixed this though.

I had to manually map the My Book Live ports in the router, because the automatic mapping was not working.

The moment I did this BTSync started working.

I'm not sure if there was some kind of conflict between both applications.

I have the same problem.

I've installed bittorrent sync in my Raspberry to build my personal cloud.

All was fine for a few days. I could add several folders trhu the web GUI  and sync them with several computers.

But now.. when I load the web GUI page directly from the Raspberry or outside the network in any computer, the web GUI is empy! Shows no directory and I can't add any.

But files are still syncing..

Reboot did not helped...

help? :S

I'd had this happen as well. Insisted on asking for a new user/password (using a config file that had this defined) and then showing nothing.

Empty folder list. Attempts to add a new one simply showed a blank. Attempts to add a URL received a message saying invalid URL.

debug logs showed nothing.

Occurred with a previous install of CentOS 6.5, a fresh Centos 7 install and a fresh Ubuntu 14.04 install. All x64.

Was resolved by wiping, wiping the sync directory, installing 1.3.109, running, quitting then updating to 1.4.75

The sync.log file with debugging turned on is as below.

tail -f sync.log

I have the same issue.

I installed btsync 9 days ago on a raspberry pi running raspbian. Everything worked fine until today when the web gui went blank.

I installed btsync during the last couple of days on several other machines (2x Android, 2x Windows, 1x Ubuntu), they still work fine.

@hechtmay

1) Try different browser

2) Is Sync process runs? Seen by other peers?

3) Is it completely blank or it still shows the gray line at the top of page (one that used to be a place for buttons)?

Hi, thanks a lot for your responses.

1) wasn't working in different browser

2) btsync was still running and syncing

3) completely blank (white page, no content)

I got it to work again doing this (why this helped I don't know):

[1] changed the config file to be writable for root (it was only readable for root)

sudo chmod +w /etc/btsync/debconf-default.conf

[2] ran the configuration and selected the defaults

sudo dpkg-reconfigure btsync

now the web gui is back again, and everything works fine

thanks guys, btsync is really great!
