Forgive me if I'm being stupid but how does one go about setting this up?

I can only see the option for read only or read/write as usual.

it should read:

  • Advanced features available through API:
    •  new secrets with support of read-only encrypted peers
    • synchronize selected files only

Hello! Thanks so much for this big update and the API :-)

Is there anything to consider before upgrading from 1.1.82? Will syncing be possible between old & new versions? Will the old one prompt for auto-update?

Thanks and greetings!

Old and new versions should be compatible. Autoupdate will be turned on later.

Thanks!

The updated Android app does not seem to connect to the other updated BTSync versions on the desktop (linux and windows).

It just shows: 0 devices online  (for every synced folder)

The linux & windows version show that the Android version is online, however nothing syncs to/from the Adnroid device.

PS: I had to completely delete the BTSync configuration on android. Then rescall all the QR Codes. Now it works

Encrypted peers seem like a feature that many end users would like to use for backing up data to an untrusted location.

Is there a reason why you decided to "hide" this behind a developer-only API ?

Indeed this would be useful for Dedicated/VPS servers where one want's to use them as a "cloud" storage.

Could you please follow these steps http://forum.bittorrent.com/topic/12658-if-you-have-syncapp-issue/ ?

On your android please agree with sending logs in Send feedback.

Do you see content of your shared folders on android in the "Remote" tab?

Thanks!

We did this for a few reasons actually. First, we wanted to try to keep the user experience as simple as possible and we thought that adding this might be confusing for many new users. Second, there was a technical reason also. When we update our releases, we typically add all the features across platforms (for feature consistency) - we found that adding Encrypted Peers to the mobile apps didn't produce the best experience so until we find a better way to do it, we elected to leave it out... for now. Its definitely something we plan to add but we're trying to do it in a effective way.

Hope that answers your question.
