iTunes Library Files Not Syncing

My One-Way-Sync-Setup for my music folder (iTunes):

MacBook Pro (Master) / MacBook Air (Slave)

Everything works fine besides the iTunes Library.til and iTunes Music Library.xml don't update on the MacBook Air.

The chronic on the MacBook Pro says that there is a updated version of the files but on the MacBook Air's  chronic these files don't show up. All other chance sync normally.

Does anyone knows why or has/had the same problem? Like that the sync is useless for me. When I open iTunes on the MacBook Air the library and playlist aren't up to date...

I tried a lot but it won't work. I close iTunes on the Pro before the sync starts (have iTunes closed on the Air too). Wait for the sync to complete than open iTunes on the Air...doesn't' help.

Remember that Sync cannot sync files that are currently open/locked/in use by other applications.

You may need to completely close iTunes on your devices for all your files to sync

The files described by the OP are not locked if iTunes is closed, I checked with lsof in the terminal whilst running it and once when closed (iTunes 11.1.3, OS X 10.9).

Like I described I have iTunes closed on both devices.

So it worked? I have iTunes 11.1.3 on both devices. But the MacBook Pro has Mountain Lion (10.8.x) and the Air Mavericks 10.9, can this cause the problem?

All I tested was if files were locked if iTunes was not running, I did not sync anything. You might have to take a look at "Enable debug logging" from the BTsync menu. The sync.log should be in ~/Library/Application Support/Bittorrent Sync/

This is what the log says when I filter it with ".itl"

It recognize that the file is older but it don't update...

  • 2 weeks later...

maybe you edited the file locally? (ie opened itunes once?) Can you try the option to "restore modified files to original version" and then maybe it will update the local copy.

I've never seen this setting anywhere in version 1.1.82 (Mac). Where is it? I'm trying to do a one way (read only) iTunes library sync, and BTSync will pull the music down, but not the updated library files. BTSync sees the recently modified local file and then appears to refuse to pull down the updated library. It's a real pity this doesn't work. I'm sure there are loads of people who want to sync their music libraries.

Ahah! I could have sworn I'd checked that I was on the latest version on each of my machines, so I just checked again to check my sanity... On one Mac, clicking check for updates opens a dialog saying that 1.1.82 is 'currently the newest version available' when it clearly is not. Presumably this is a known bug?! I haven't checked. Anyway, that may be the cause of some issues...

Updating to 1.2.73, I'm noticing that a very odd problem still has not gone away. Two of my machines appear to have an identity crisis. They are both Macbooks, and have some sporadic syncing problems. Interestingly, if I changed the name of one machine in the BTS prefs pane, it also changes the name of the other machine. The names are similar, but different (by one alpha character). No doubt this is the wrong place to bring this up... I have reported in-app also, but suspect I have not provided enough information. The two machines are on the same public IP but NATed behind a standard router from my ISP. UPnP port mapping is enabled on both devices.

version checks are not fully working. Whilst BTsync is in beta, it is always good to check the forums for new updates every once in a while.
