Same Computer Two Folders, Same Key?

Hi guys,

Looking for some help. I have two computer that I have set up to sync, but now I'm looking to create a back up on the laptop that also syncs an external drive. When I try and use the same key, bittorrent sync says "Selected folder is already uploaded". So I guess my question is: is there a way to get bittorrent to sync a total of 3 folders, with two of those being on the same computer? or should I look for another software to handle the two folders on the same computer?

Thanks,

-Myles

EDIT: I did misunderstand your request - Ignore the following.

If I understand correctly, you're trying to add the same folder a second time to be able to backup to the third device (the laptop). If that's correct, then "you're doing it wrong" :)

btsync is a mesh type of sync tool - ie, it syncs N-ways, not only 2-ways. So you don't need to add the folder a second time, just use the same key and add it to the btsync config on your laptop. The laptop will then "join" the other 2 computers in the sync activities for the folder.

BTSync does not let you create multiple sync folders with the same key, therefore it does not allow you to syncone folder with another folder on the same computer.

You stated the external drive is just a backup so you can use a simple 1-way copy method. If you are on Windows and have any experience with using the console I'd recommend using Robocopy, it is a robust file copying utility.
