Why Are A Few Files Not Synced?

I have 3 computers.

1 is currently being synced.

The 2 other computers are now synced, or at least "almost".

On both computers they agree that they need to sync 1008.6 kB.

I have restarted the BTSync on both computers.

But they do not sync the files.

Can I see what files they still need to sync?

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance.

Both Windows XP, BTSync Version 1.2.91.

I cant figure out how to upload a picture of the two computers, showing the Devices tab status.

On my ftp server I have 61 GB data in 75.000 files and 33.000 directorys in a directory called "C:\Service". Normal filesize 10 KB to 100 KB. Avg is 840 Kb.

Here I have installed BTSync and shared the readonly secret to the second computer.

On the second computer I added. The "C:\Service" already had been synced with a ftp sync program.

But the ftp sync program is very slow to sync that many directorys. 8+ hours.

Therefore I am testing BTSync.

The BTSync was installed with a readonly secret on the second computer and BTSync scanned the existing "C:\Service" folder and begun to download the missing files.

BTSync is now done syncing and for two days the one computer says it needs to upload 1008.6 Kb and the other says it needs to download 1008.6 Kb.

I have searched the directory for .!sync and there arent any.

The "Restore modified files to original version" is set.

Hi soebo,

There are several possible reasons for your issue:

- permissions (one of peers can't read / write particular file(s) or folder(s)

- File lock (some file can be locked by an application so BTSync can't open it)

- Different file name case (file(s) could be renamed by you or application with only letter case change - known bug in BTSync)

- not enough space on peer to get the data

You can check the bullet #2 and #4 easily (#2 - use "handle" utility by sysinternals to see who has open handles to your sync directory, #4 - check the disk free space).

If that does not help - please make a debug logs from 2 of your peers (one which wants to send, another which can't receive) and send to me for analysis.

#1 Permissions.
On this XP pc I have searched the directory with "dir /s /ar" to find any file with readonly attrib set.
None was found.

#2 File lock: none found pointing to c:\Service.
I have restarted both computers. This should take care of file locks.
And no locks found using "handle service" command.

C:\>handle service

#3 different file name case.
This is almost impossible for me to find.
I hope this will be solved in a version soon to come.
Surgestion: Double click on the device in "Devices tab" to see whitch files are to be synced.

#4 Free space.
The computer has 40+ GB free space.

This solution helped me:

* Right click on the BTSync icon and select "Enable debug logging".

* Restart BTSync.

* Look at the log file in Windows: %APPDATA%\BitTorrent Sync\sync.log

* Remove the files on your computer containing the "rejecting until file info is updated" text. One line is generated every second for every file with this problem.

Thank you for your help RomanZ.
